Ive noticed some habits of people ito where they post and where they dont. What are your rules and habits. Where would you not post ever and why? Where do you and why.

Depends who is there and what they are discussing.

Sometimes I reply just for the hell of it, or to stir things up/coolthings down.

what type of discussion would you take part in? How does it matter ta u who is there?

Over the last year I have 'met' many wonderful people here who I have grown to love and respect.

It's like coming home, relaxing, and putting your feet up.
Some people make you feel comfortable.
More so here than on the GB!

As someone new to Lit and fiction writing, I'm mainly in "feeling around the edges" mode. I tend to post more where there's a discussion rather than banter. I shy away from posting in discussions about the mechanics of writing because of my inexperience and the newbie intimidation factor -- which is strictly self-generated; the folks here have been welcoming and encouraging.

A Newbie!

quite obviously i have very few rules.
i try to stay away from politically charged threads but sometimes that just dont work.

I post anywhere that I find something of interest. And some places just to be evil... and some places just to be a bitch...

If I have something to say, I will say it. If I don't have something to say, I don't. Usually.

Depends.

I tend to avoid political threads. They tend to degenerate into flame wars.

I stay out of people gushing about how happy and fulfilling their relationship is. They merely remind me how lonely I am.

That's about it.

Edited to add: I stay out of writerly threads. I haven't the education to discuss them properly. And they get way too deep for me.

Now that's just silly, RG. We love you, and your input in writerly threads is welcome, I'm sure.

At this point I steer away from very opinionated threads, because I don't think I've been around long enough for my opinion to really be worth much. I just toss out random comments ^_^

Thanks, Hugo. You're a true friend and a bear among bears.

But to answer Fem's question, it depends on several things. But let me take this opportunity to turn the table and ask Fem:

What are your rules and habits. Where would you not post ever and why? Where do you and why.
Discuss or cuss, it's your call.

Just the Author's Hangout?

Is the original question aimed at posting in the Author's Hangout or on all the Literotica boards or even wider on the Internet?

If the AH:

I usually avoid the ongoing hanging out threads or the Last Post thread.

Sometimes I enter the political threads but most are internal US matters and so are of marginal interest.

I avoid the links to competitions and film clips because I'm still on dial-up and those links take forever.

I try to contribute to the literary discussions.

Elsewhere on Lit:

Sometimes I post in the French language forum, the poetry forum and other fora if I see a thread title of interest.

I AVOID the General Board for two reasons: 1. The discussions frequently degenerate to slanging matches and 2. the posts are so fast that my responses are several posts after the item to which I am replying and no longer relevant.

Elsewhere on the Internet:

I participate in a number of adult Yahoo Groups, and some groups that have left Yahoo for other sites. In my real name I run a very small poetry group and participate in a couple of hobby and business groups.

My alts:

jeanne_d_artois and Fag-Ash_Lil sometimes play around in the AH. jeanne appears about once or twice a month; Fag-Ash_Lil very rarely but she can be ubiquitous in the fun threads for a few hours.
