It seemed like it had been forever since Sarah had last seen Jason. They had been close friends but when she left the city for a new job they drifted apart. A couple of months ago she had been offered a job at museum back town. Having been a history major back in college she jumped at the chance and it didn't hurt that she would be close to Jason once again.

Now here she was, settling into a new apartment and excited about her new career. Everything seemed to be going well. When she had called Jason and asked to meet for coffee she was worried that he would say no. Maybe he would be too busy or maybe he just wouldn't want to reconnect. But he said yes and she couldn't have been more thrilled.

Jason had been working hard in his new job for the past few years. He had been at a bit of a loss ever since his best friend Sarah had left for her job. For the first few months it had seemed like a part of his body had been missing, but over time he had gradually come to terms with it. He had thrown himself into his work and had steadily risen up the ranks. He had moved into a nice apartment and dated several women but no one had ever seemed right to him.

Now out of the blue he had received a phone call from Sarah. She was back working in town again and wanted to catch up and she wanted to know if he wanted to as well. Did he? Well of course he did. He agreed to meet her at a coffee shop and then after a few more pleasantries hung up the phone.

He then immediately rushed to his closet looking for something to wear. His best friend was back and he was nervous. How had she changed. Would she recognize him or would he her and would they still get along. He couldn't wait to meet her again.

Sarah dressed in a simple blue sweater and jeans before heading to the coffee shop where they had agreed to meet. As she sat there she filled with a napkin, slowly tearing small pieces off. Knowing that she was going to see him again made her nervous. She had no idea what had happened during the time they had been apart. What if he had forgotten all about her. Maybe he had just agreed to meet to be nice.

Jason had dressed semi casually in Jeans and a white top. He walked into the coffee shop and glanced around not really expecting to recognize anyone. However he spotted her straight away, sitting at the table looking as nervous as he felt. She had changed a little but not enough that he had not known her right away.

She was still a vision and he smiled as he walked over to her. She had always been lovely, and he had always thought himself lucky she had been his friend. A lot of people had thought they had been more but they had never gone that far, and truthfully he had never really thought of her like that. Oh he had at one stage but he had quickly put them aside when he was sure she did not share them.

"Sarah it is great to see you again," he said slipping into the seat opposite her. "I was happy to get your call, but what are you doing in these parts again?"

"Oh... Just moved for a new job but this time it was in an old city. I'm really glad to be back here again. I've missed this place. I'm sure things have changed a bit though." Sarah said still ripping bits of napkin.

Sarah had never really dated much while they were friends. She always made up excuses when he asked her about it. The truth was that she could never find someone that she had feelings for like she did for Jason. No one ever compared to him. There was always something about Jason that intimidated her. Even though they had been friends she never felt good enough for him. She always figured he would wind up marrying some supermodel or some wealthy business type, someone important and gorgeous.

"I've missed you." She said looking up at him.

"I've missed you too. It was like someone took part of me away when you left," he smiled sadly, "but we always knew it would happen someday."

Looking at her he smiled again and reached out and covered her hands. "You said something about a new job though. Does this mean your back in town for awhile. The terrible twosome are going to be back in action," he said bringing up their old nickname from college.

He smiled as a waitress walked passed and she quickly stopped and he placed their order. The fact that he hadn't forgotten her favorite coffee or just the way she liked it stunned him, but it was like they hadn't even been apart. All the old memories were floating back and he realized just how much he really had missed her.

"So tell me what you have been up to. Catch me up on your life."

"While I was working... A lot..." She said "I actually can't remember the last time I truly had a day off. It was ridiculous. I didn't have time to go out and meet anyone. It got pretty lonely there. No friends, no dates, no you..." Sighing she pulled her hands away from his "I wish I had never gone. It wasn't worth it. The money didn't end up being all that great and all I wanted to do was come home. When I saw an opportunity here I knew I had to do anything I could to get it." Sarah took a deep breath and let everything she said sink in "Now that I've ranted on about my life why don't you tell me what you've been up to?"

Jason sighed. "Pretty much the same thing. Sorry to say without you around to keep me from being a sour puss, I basically threw myself into my work. Oh don't get me wrong I still enjoy it and it turns out I am damn good at it. I am the youngest Junior executive in the place and there is talk of making me a partner soon. I am rich, have a great place, but truth to tell I am pretty lonely." He smiled ruefully and looked at her. "Not exactly how we pictured ourselves huh?"

"Well it definitely isn't how I picture you. I mean I always knew you would do well. Great job with plenty of money but I never would have thought that you would be lonely." She said a bit surprised. "There has to be someone you want, you could have your pick of women. So why are you single?" She asked hoping she wasn't prying too much "I thought you would be married by now or at least thinking about it."

He smiled inwardly. There was a reason he guessed. None of the women he had dated had ever clicked the way he and Sarah had. Oh a couple had been really nice but he just couldn't talk to them the way he could with her, or they never seemed to be able to get him the way she did. It was as if she was literally another part of him. When they were together they hardly even needed to talk sometimes, they would just suddenly jump up and start doing things as if they had planned it even though it was spontaneous. He knew she was his ideal mate but he also knew he could never have her.

"Oh there have been a few, but no one really special yet. Guess I am just too picky. Well that or just too busy. Woman still like being doted on even if you have a lot of money you know and I'm not the sort who just hands over my credit card. I am not looking for a trophy wife."

Smiling he looked at her capturing her hands again. "You on the other hand. I was sure you would be dragging along a husband by now. A sexy, intelligent woman. You should be beating them off with a huge baseball bat, if not a gun."

"I just never had time for it. There was always something more important to do. You know I've never really been in much of a relationship. I guess I just have standards that are way too high. No other man can match them. I know what I want." She said "I think now I would be completely lost if I tried to get into the dating scene. I don't have the experience most women my age do. No one wants that."

Jason leaned back and laughed a little. "Are you kidding Sarah. I know plenty of guy's who would give their right arms to go out with you. Hey I know your not a virgin, remember this is me your talking to here. We never really had secrets between us remember. I may not know exactly what you got up to but I know you got up to a few things," he chuckled. "Besides believe it or not it is not usually the real slutty ones that get the guys off. It is the sexy demure ones that are the ones they love the best and believe me Sarah you have that in spades."

He glanced at her and even though it killed him a little he forced a smile on his face. "Hey I tell you what. If you really want to get back into the dating scene I can probably get you a few dates with a few decent guys I know. That way you won't have any guys trying to play grab ass on the first date if you know what I mean. Of course when is entirely up to you of course. I mean you have just got back into town and we still have to catch up. I am not going to share you until I have at least shown you around and taken you out a few times myself. What do you think of that?"

"No.... I mean I don't want you setting me up with dates. It would be awkward. Besides like you said I just got back. I have so much to do. I still need to finish unpacking and getting ready to start my new job. I don't think I have time for dating right now." She said feeling guilty. She had lied to him. When she told him about guy she meet she tended to embellish a bit. Most of the time it never went past one or two dates but she felt like if he knew that then he might start asking why. Even now she didn't know how to tell him about her feelings for him. Back then she was terrified. She always thought that it would end their friendship if he knew.

"Fine no dates then," he said somewhat relieved. He really wanted her all to himself anyway. Truth be told seeing her again had stirred up all those old feelings again and he was very glad she had turned down his offer.

"I tell you what then, why don't I help you unpack and get settled in and then I can take you out for dinner. I know a great little place, that is kind of off the beaten path but the chef is a wizard. He makes dishes that will make you beg for more and desserts that will have you begging to have his children," he laughed.

"So what do you say, vant to come avway with me Fraulein," he joked in a very poor German accent.

"Yeah I could use the help." She said " I feel like I'm getting nowhere unpacking everything by myself. Dinner would be great too actually. My kitchen is still a mess, there isn't much room to cook anything right now." Sarah suddenly felt like she was rambling on, she wondered if he could tell that she felt a bit awkward.

Jason smiled at her. He wondered why she was so nervous, after all it was just him. Maybe they had been apart too long and it would take awhile for their old camaraderie to kick in. Well he could wait, after all she was going to be staying and he was going to be seeing a lot more of her.

With that happy thought he drank the last of his coffee and stood up. "Well how did you get here? I have my car parked about a block from here so if you need a lift I can give you one. If not just give me your address and I can meet you at your place. Oh it does have visitor's parking right?"

"I walked. It wasn't that far and I don't have a car at the moment." She said getting up "I could use a ride back... You can just park in my spot." She said "I really appreciate the help. It's been hard trying to get everything done before I start work on Monday."

Helping her up He started guiding her towards his car. "C'mon Sarah you know I will always be there to help you no matter what it's for. That's just what we do. Hell I sometimes thought you were closer to me than any girlfriend I have ever had," he said and then blushed as he realized what he had just said. Luckily they had reached his car and he quickly beeped it open and got the door for her.

He had opted for a nice car but not a really fancy one. Just a BMW 5 series in blue. It looked good enough to impress clients but was still nice enough to drive around. He followed Sarah's directions back to her place, parking in her spot and then followed her up to her apartment.

As they walked in he looked around and he realized she hadn't been kidding. All the big stuff was in place, (probably done by the movers), but there were still boxes lying all over the place. Whistling he glanced at her. "Okay, where do you want to start."

"Just grab a box and start unpacking. I'm not really sure what is in what box. I was in such a rush to move that I didn't bother labeling things. I'm definitely regretting that now." She said sitting down next to a box and ripping the tape off. "We will just have to figure it out as we go."

He shrugged and walked over to the first box he saw. Ripping off the tape and looking inside he found a heap of kitchen stuff. Picking it up he walked passed her into the small kitchen and started to unpack things. He tried to put things in the most logical places but he guessed if Sarah didn't like his choices she could always move them later.

Quickly finishing that box, he went back to the box that had been under it expecting to find another one for the kitchen. Ripping off the tape he found a heap of bathroom stuff. Grinning he looked over at Sarah and shook his head. Oh yes this was indeed going to be a long day. Picking it up he trudged off to find the bathroom and see how much he could make a mess out of this.

Sarah found a box of clothes and headed to the bedroom to start hanging things up. "Need help? Or do you think you've got it under control?" She asked as she continued putting things away. When she was done with the first box she picked another, this time full of more kitchen stuff.

"No I think I have it mostly under control if you are still keeping things the way you used to," he smiled as she walked passed. They had been at each others places so often that they had both left stuff there in case they slept over. He had a pretty good idea where she wanted most of her stuff and whatever else she would just move later anyway. As long as it was away neatly for now, that was the main thing.

He got the bathroom stuff sorted and headed back again. This time it was clothes. He walked into her bedroom and started hanging up stuff and putting things away in drawers. Wow for someone who didn't go out much she had some really nice stuff. Suddenly on the bottom of the box he came to a pile of underwear and not the plain everyday stuff. This was the good lacy bra, matching briefs, some G-strings and even some garter belts and stockings. Jason paused and gulped a few times imagining Sarah wearing them. Oh boy. He mentally slapped himself and carefully put them away in a top draw already containing some of her underwear. Blushing a little he returned to the lounge room praying he got a safe box this time.

Sarah could tell something was off when he walked back in "what did you find?" She asked knowing that she didn't have anything embarrassing that he could have come across. "You found bras and stuff, didn't you? You know all girls wear them it's not a big deal..." She said picking another box.

"Yeah I know, it's just that I never pictured you in them ya know and now that I have well...let's just say I think they would look very good on you," he said in a rush and then quickly grabbed the first box he saw and ripped it open to hide the small feeling of embarrassment he was having and the rather large bulge that was developing in the front of his pants.

Yes he had hit the jackpot. Towels. Something that could easily hide his predicament and get him out of the room at the same time. "I guess these are going in the hall closet then? I will be right back," he said making his escape.
