History has shown time and time again that if you're out to kill the king you'd better make damn sure he's dead.
In that regard I think the democrats have made a serious miscalculation. (Does anyone dispute that they aren't trying to put a stake through Trump's heart?) Their problem is almost Shakespearean in nature. "To indict or not to indict, that is the question."
If they indict the underlying affidavit becomes public. And if they don't have an iron clad affidavit and an irrefutable chain of evidence they will ignite a firestorm. If they don't indict then there will also be a firestorm. They have indeed painted themselves into a corner. For those of you that have taken Game Theory courses and bother to map the decision tree out, they have less than a 50% chance of prevailing, actually more on the order of 25%.
In the event they prevail, and there is that possibility, they will attempt to continue on the same path. But what happens if they don't?
It's fairly certain that they are going to lose the House this fall. But they'll still have the Administrative branch and all of it's tools to continue the effort, and that most likely means they'll double down. Given that they've virtually declared nearly half of the population "Enemies of the State" it is certain that others not in their definition will be swept up. Governments are not surgeons, they are clumsy and ham fisted.
I know that many of you here are quite celebratory over the recent turn of events. Fine, that is your choice. But I would caution you to forget your partisan leanings and consider that ALL actions have consequences, often not foreseen.
