(This story is CLOSED for Soru and myself.. thanks)

~ she stood... coming up from the kneel in with a fluid graceful motion... her hands .. were smeared with blood.. dripping .. soaking with the blood of the Monster.. the Vampire... she had just killed... It's body still twitching.. before finally stopping...
The silver stake still had a glint of it's shine.. amidst all the blood that had spattered all over the surface...
her intials *TVH* happened to be free of blood... she wondered if that were some sort of .. sign...
Oh well.. no matter... turning.. she wraps her bloodied fingers around the axe.. lifting it high over her head.. with a sound like a war cry coming from her lips... the axe falls.. the Vampire's head coming clean off... of course there was more gushing of blood.. but since the Thing were dead... not as much seemed to spill...
With a nod of satisfaction... Talin steps away from the body... how many did that make? She shook her head.. she had lost count a long time ago... Pausing... she almost forgot... turning back to the Vampire.. or ..what was left of It... she reaches for and extracts her silver stake... and walks away... slowly... carrying the axe in one hand... her stake has been slipped into her boot... the Vampire's head.. held in her other hand... When she reaches the nearby river.. the head is set down... and .. quickly.. set ablaze... It does not burn for long... and soon.. it is a pile of burned skull and ash...

"another Vampire .. slaughtered" she congratulates herself.. well.. there was no one there to congratulate her.. she had to do it herself... Taking a deep tired breath.. she rinses her stake.. and the axe... enjoying the feel of cool fresh water gliding over her fingers... She was tired... this particular Vampire had taken alot to bring down... her *method* of catching Vampires and killing them was not quite like most Hunters... Talin was first of all.. female... her strength was no match for the Monsters she hunted.. her strength did not even match that of her Van Helsing ancestors.. so she had to rely on something else.. not just cunning.. no... alot of that... but Talin's ... *method* involved something a bit more... intimate... she would hunt her ... prey... by luring that prey to her... using the basic fact that she indeed was female... a beautiful female.. a beautiful human female.. helpless... or so they thought... mortal... yes.. she was mortal for the most part... alone... Talin was always alone.. she would never allow anyone close.. not friends... she had no family... and a lover... that was out of the question...
Talin had one love... that was killing Vampires...
Once the make Vampire was ensnared within her web... she would go in for the kill... It was fairly easy... Luring the Monster to an out of the way place... during the darkest time of the night... she would let that Monster think that It had the upper hand.. that It would feed this night... but instead.. the Beast was staked... quickly... efficiently.. thru the heart... her silver stake was always... ALWAYS... in her boot.... the axe was already there.. waiting for her... Talin was a meticulous planner.. knowing just where she would ... lure... the Vampire....

Oh it was a dangerous game... more than once she had almost been bitten... she had felt fangs almost sink into the tender flesh of her throat... yet she had used what brute force she had ... and a well placed kick... even Vampires had sensative balls... to elude such a fate... she suffered numerous bruises... and gashes to her flesh.... her own blood had flowed.. right along with the Vampires she killed... only she ... managed to survive...

The walk home was long.. home was nothing more than a room in a run down Inn... she always was traveling.. searching for her next kill... her next vindication... hunting Vampires was in her blood... she... was a Van Helsing... Talin Van Helsing...

OOC:
Talin Van Helsing...
20 years old ... She has been vampire hunting since 15...
5'6"
131 pounds
Long flaming red hair.. that falls to her backside.. she keeps it braided or in a ponytail most of the time
Golden amber eyes...

Talin: http://photobucket.com/albums/a360/AmbrosiaCaress/?action=view&current=8d8ff8f7.jpg

She is not a waif of a girl.. she has quite a figure on her.. one that attracts attention.. of mortal and vampire.. She does not pretend that she can beat these Monsters using strength... she does what she has to do to draw the Vampire close.. and then goes in for the kill.. sometimes it takes several... encounters... to lure the Vampire to where she can carry out the kill... so the hunt can last several weeks... at least a few days...

She carries the silver stake in her leather boot... the axe is planted where she needs it before hand... she also has a crossbow that she is very good at using .. when needed and when she has it... depends on her hunt and the situation...

Maiar's Entrance

O.O.C.: Well then, let's get down to business...

Images of Maiar...

Devilish Smirk

Classic Pose

Up Close

Glaring

---------------------------------------------

I.C.:

Angry red orbs glared down at the mangled corpse on the ground below. The severed head not too far away. He growled in frustration, yet another of his coven that the huntress took. His long dark cape fluttered in a sudden gust of wind.

I shall have to deal with this..."complication" myself.

He had sent four of his best after her. This one, the latest victim, was the fourth. His coven grew to fear her...a woman...feared by vampires.

"Pfft...how disgraceful..."

He spat down at the corpse. The fool most likely fell to his own lust. Maiar turned away, lifting into the air...his form going black as twilight before bursting into several bats, all of which flying towards the small town up ahead.

She couldnt have gone far...

~ The walk had done her good.. as it always did... after a kill... It was still very late... very late indeed..

Making her way to the Inn... The Chilled Stone Inn... she steps from the darkness outside.. into the warm flickering firelight within... surprisingly there were still a few hardy souls at the small attached Tavern.. having a brew or ale or something along those lines... Talin looked in that direction for a moment before continueing up the creeky stairs to the room she rented... perhaps she would have herself a drink... she sure deserved it...

The axe is set near her bed.. alongside the crossbow.. she sitting on the bed for a few moments to pull the stake from her boot... a quick exam.. it was fine.. ready for the next .. Vampire.. to kill... it seemed the stake thristed for blood... Vampire blood....

With a smile she slips it back into the leather boot... standing up.. her long black gypsylike skirt flows down to brush the top of those same boots.... she did change tops.. the one she had on happened to have blood all over it.. her skirt had been spared.. save for a drop or 2.. no big deal.. those would never be seen... she slips on a deep royal blue tank top.. quite a contrast to her firey red hair.. which she lets down with a quick shake of her head... the long silken length falling down to veil her back in crimson...

"Now.. time for that drink"...

She needed a few days of rest... these last 4 Vampires had seemingly come one after the other... she had not expected to encounter 4 from the same coven.. but the mark on the palms of each... a gothic M was branded into each of their palms... told her indeed they were from the same gathering of the Monsters.. She had never bothered to ask what it meant.. not that they would tell her.. she was sure they would not... made no difference to her.. she had wiped out an entire coven before..

Stepping into the Tavern.. she found herself a quiet spot near the fire... calling to the Barkeep for a glass of wine.. white.. please... she hated red wine.. looked too much like blood to her.. ~

The small town was almost empty, everyone inside for the night, and with good reason. A slow fog rolled in, the flapping of leathery wings could be heard. Small metal crosses lined the rooftops all over this place. For protection no doubt...The metal of each cross creaked and moaned, finally twisting out of shape, some breaking entirely.

He walked out of the mist, entering the town square...his cape gliding along the cobblestone behind him. Maiar sniffed at the air, the scent of his bretheren's blood was still lingering about.

He looked about the place. A small and pitiful little existence in this world. His eyes caught a sign hanging outside a large inn.

Ahh...the Chilled Stone...

He couldn't help but smirk. Finally, he would end her miserable life...but first, a test of her abilities. The vampire walked towards the well in the middle of the square, a begger was sleeping peacefully along the brick outter wall.

A few minutes later the homeless man was sent hurling across the square, finally crashing through one of the windows of the inn. Maiar had torn into the begger, but he wasnt dead.

"Come out little girl!"

He yelled out from the center of the square, his form fading into the mist until he finally disappeared once more.

~ Talin was lost in her thoughts... she would rest here for another couple of days.. before moving on... She never lingered in one place tooo long.. that was for sure.. better to keep moving.. to linger was to be ... trapped... to be trapped.. would mean death .. to her...

The window blew apart as the body sailed thru it.. the few in the Tavern scattering... She was on her feet in an instant... her eyes locked to that of the nearly dead man.. HIs throat bore the calling card... the vicious wounds of a hungered Vampire... yet... the man lived....

"Come out little girl!"

She turns slowly... her head coming up.. eyes wide... the voice seemed to slide into the Tavern on the very mist that now spread thru the room...

"Come out little girl!"

No other could hear His call.. No... His voice ... haunting.. chilling... was meant for her ears... and her ears only...

She was ill prepared for another... Vampire... as exhausted as she was.. and this One.. This one was calling to her on His terms... that was NOT how she battled .. that would NOT be how she battled this time....

"Have I not killed enough of Your kind in the past weeks.. Beast... why do You call to me... "

She stepped out of the Tavern.. she had to get away from people... mortals.. she would NOT put them in harms way of she could avoid it...

The fog circled around her.. slender tendrils seeming to dance at her skin... tickle at her flesh... the mist was alive... she knew He was within.. the Vampire that taunted her... she was slowly walking along the buildings... making her way to the one place the Evil One would not enter.. the local church... she would not fight this Beast on His terms.. she couldn't.. of course she could not let Him know that ~

"Why do You call me... what is it You desire.. other than to die... Beast"...

The mist reached out as if to pull her under, but quickly arched back as she stepped upon holy ground. It wasnt something that hurt him, not anymore. Maybe ages ago, when he was younger. He'd outgrown such mediocre defenses...but he wanted to give her the appearence of hope before he snatched it away from her.

Chilling laughter trickled out from the mist, riding along the air like a haunting echo. The stained glass of the small church shook, cracks running out it all directions from the middle of the glass like a small spider's web. The shaking grew into a rumble that affected the entire church. The small white cross on the steeple crumbled into an unrecognizable thing as the windows blew out, multi-colored glass littering the cobblestone. The rumbling soon stopped.

"Are you joking child?"

He appeared as if walking out of thin air to the preacher's pulpit. The ceremonial bowl of holy water to his left. He looked down at her and smirked, taking a finger and lowering it into the water. Steam arose as the water burned away at his flesh. He pulled his finger out and in plain sight let her watch as it rebuilt itself, eventually bending and moving as if nothing was wrong.

He set both his hands on the preacher's stand, and in doing so the bible atop it burst into flames which lit up his face in the darkness.

"Well little huntress, it seems that our little game is coming to an end. I have to tell you, I'm somewhat dissappointed. I was hoping for much more fun..."

~ her feet set to holy ground... the mist retreating... but only for a moment.. a breif moment.. Talin realized as the building seemed to shatter around her ... that this Beast.. was different.. very different.. and she was not prepared...

The Vampire appeared.. at the very pulpit that drove others away... that struck fear and terror in the eyes of younger Vampires... this One.. used to His advantage...

"Well little huntress, it seems that our little game is coming to an end. I have to tell you, I'm somewhat dissappointed. I was hoping for much more fun..."

Her eyes widened at that... "Fun... You taunt me... hoping for fun... You have a sick sense of what is... fun... Beast... " she stood her ground... staring at the figure before her on the pulpit... She had never seen one such as He before...
"what is it You wish... to kill me? I welcome death... Beast.. but none seem able to ... best me... and deal the fatal blow... to kill me is about as hard as it is for me to kill one such as You... "

Talin did not like how this was shaping up... The Beast had the upper hand... for this was an encounter that He initiated... on His terms.. not something that she wished... how would she gain the .. advantage... could she... a deep breath taken...

"or... perhaps You wish to learn what it is that I possess that seems to... enchant Vampires so... that draw them to me... that allows me close enough to.. in turn.. end their wretched lives... "

She watched Him... her golden eyes roaming over His form.. assessing His strength... His build... she did not like the fact that she found this one... particularly attractive.. not something she would admit in her lifetime... ~

"or... perhaps You wish to learn what it is that I possess that seems to... enchant Vampires so... that draw them to me... that allows me close enough to.. in turn.. end their wretched lives... "

He stood silent a moment, his brow furrowed a bit as if considering some unspoken proposition...and then as suddenly as he appeared he let out a roaring laugh that shook the very foundation of the church.

"You?! You...tempt me?! Do you know how many women I've taken up and tossed aside like so much trash?! You dont realize what this is do you?"

He opened his cape wide, which seemed to take a wing-like form, and from the black depths within, hundreds of bats flew outwards, enveloping the church in darkness and eventally escaping through the glassless windows.

He was gone from the pulpit, a bit of smoke still rising where the bible once laid.

"This is a song of death and destruction..."

The voice seemed to come from nowhere but yet it was right at her ear, so close...and just like that, he was there, right infront of her, his hands outstretched, palms against the wall behind her. Maiar leaned in closer, giving her a glimpse of his burning red orbs.

"MY song!.."

~ Talin watched... she did not flinch... she did not look away... she simply stared... she could not show fear.. that would only make her ... vunerable... she would NOT give this Vampire any more advantages than He already had...

"This is a song of death and destruction..."

It took all her strength not to shiver when that voice whispered in her ear... so close... so very close.. she knew.. He would be before her in the next instant...

"MY song!.."

Her golden eyes lift to the deep crimson red of His.. His presence was all around her... she effectively was trapped between the wall.. and Him... He leaning in closer...

Her mind was racing... She would never beat Him using strength... fighting Him was out of the question... but neither was she going to die at His hand... and she knew she was oh so close to that point... He leaning closer... His breath was cold... so cold... He was too close... getting too close..

Talin's well placed kick hit home.. striking right between the Beast's legs... He was male... no matter what He was.. THAT was vunerable... she took that one small window of time... to slither down the wall and escape...

Talin did not want to run... She HATED running... but she was ill-prepared for this ... Vampire.... She needed to rest.. needed to plan... as she ran from the church.. she looked up... the sun.... the sun was just beginning its ascent into the sky... she did not count on that making her safe... and she knew that Vampire would be after her... She had to hunt Him before He found her again.....

Exhausted.. she burst into her room... she would not stay here... She needed to hide... this Vampire would not be so easy to seduce and fool... had the Hunter ... just become the Hunted...?? It sure felt like it.. and it was a feeling Talin did not like at all... ~

...and still she fights, in the face of unbeatable odds. This may be fun after all...

The vampire watched as she kicked at his illusion and took off towards the hotel. There was absolutely no way that he would face her himself. She wasnt quite ready for that encounter, but she did infact pass his little test. Something of a tradition he had, dating back to before this child first even opened her eyes to this world. He smiled and followed her, backing into the shadows from which he came.

If it was anything this town was abundant in, that would be people. For such a small hole in the world, humans seemed to thrive here. Unlike most vampires he didnt despise his food, or rather the carriers of his most precious liquid, he just pitied them and their small little existence, but never enough to give them a taste of his.

A small crowd had gathered outside the church, some people looking around at the town square. He watched them from his perch atop the steeple. Maiar snapped his fingers and not a moment later did all of those people begin to head for the small little inn, their eyes were white as a ghost, no pupils to be found...slaves to his will. Not a technique for everyone, as it only affected those of a weak intellect. However humorous it may be, the towns people seemed to fit that requirement.

They burst in through the small door of the inn, passing through the lobby and up the stairs. Spreading out they checked all the rooms, until finally they found hers, locked of course. The horde banged on the door, slamming fist upon fist at it trying to take it off the hinges.

The whole time, Maiar stood on the adjacent rooftop, watching Talin through a very convienent window to her room.

What will you do huntress? Will you hurt or even kill your own kind?

~ The pounding began... a hateful *thud.. thud... thud* against the flimsy door to her room... her haven... it no longer a haven.. it would be a tomb if she were not careful...

"this has to be some sort of nightmare" she snarls to herself.. A glance given to the window... she was only one floor up... escape was her only option.. she refused to battle the towns people.. if she could help it...

Crossbow slung to her back... she had not the time to pack her few meager belongings... she took only what she needed... even her axe had to be left behind... she was NOT happy about that... the window thrown open... she growls outloud.. "Bastard"... it had to be that.. damned... Vampire... and for a moment... she wondered if this was how they felt when being hunted by her father... grandfather... great grandfather...

Balancing on the sill.. as the door explodes inward.. she jumps... the ground below was soft... too soft... Talin took a bad landing .. coming down on her right knee.... the cry of pain and shock surely heard by Him....

Despite the pain.. she was on her feet in an instant... making her way into the shadows of the building across the way... leaning to the side wall for support... taking a deep breath as she heard the... towns people... tearing her room apart in their search for her... ~

Maiar watched as the poor girl jumped from the window sill. He uttered a tiny chuckle as she cried out in pain.

With the ease of a feather he floated up further into the sky, his mind releasing it's hold on the townspeople. They were no longer necessary in his scheme. He wrapped the long dark cape around his body, letting it fold into itself until he completely disappeared.

As she ran, a slight fog grew around her, seemingly following her every movements. It reached out, grabbing at her with every turn, a mist that felt like hands and fingers prodding her entire body as she moved through the town.

A soft chuckle came from the alleyway she just passed, another from a window high above her. He was all around, everywhere...he reached out with his mind, talking to her and only her.

"Just fall girl...give up..."

~ Talin took a deep breath.. and began to move... the pain in her knee was agonizing and getting worse with every step she took... yet she did not stop... she could not...

The mist seeming to grow around her... wrapping about her.. slowing her... the touch chilling... haunting... His voice... she began to hear His voice... all around her... a serpents tongue that danced over her flesh...

A chuckle at her pain.... a whipser.. "Just fall girl...give up..."....

She shook her head NO.... and kept moving.. but the voice.. the mist... that serpent's tongue kept moving with her... She had never encounted One like this One before... she should have been prepared... she knew that now... her Father must be rolling over in His grave... and sooo very disappointed...

"Just fall girl...give up..."

She stopped then.. head down... panting slightly .. fighting the burning pain that was coming from her knee.....

"who are YOU" she whispered... certain that He could hear her... "tell me who You are"....

He moved out of the shadows, forming once again infront of her, his cape billowing around them both.

"Why should I tell you? Have you done something to earn that?"

He reached out and took hold of her throat, lifting the poor girl off of the ground. He grinned, his fangs showing more than ever now. He was about to bite her, to end her existence once and for all when a bit of sunlight crept over the top of a building, hitting him like a brick.

"Ahhrggg!!!"

He winced in pain, his eyes closing and his brow furrowed. Maiar hated the sun more than anything. It was the one thing that still hurt him. His shoulder erupted in a small flame as more of the sunlight fell on him. With no other option, he pulled the girl to his chest and wrapped his cape around her, both of them vanishing from the alleyway.

He reappeared in the lower part of the dungeon in his castle, smoke rising from his shoulder now. Growling at the pain he opened one of the cell doors and threw her inside, closing the gate quickly. It locked in place and he turned away, walking into the shadows.

His plan was to toy with her a bit more before bringing her here, to his keep, but he had lost track of time. The girl proved to be more entertaining...

Maiar reappeared in his own chambers, a large black coffin, lined in gold trim and intricate dragon like designs sat in the middle of a plush red carpet. He had no need for a bed in his own room, but there were others, littered about the castle in the various rooms. His room contained many candles, some on stands and some lining the floor...a large trunk where he kept his own personal belongings. Mostly memorabilia from days long past.

The lid to the coffin slid open as he stepped in, laying down in the rather comfortable cushioned interior. He laid his head back as the lid closed over him. He needed to rest for now...tomorrow night would be more fun...He smiled before falling into a deep deep sleep.

"who are YOU" she whispered... certain that He could hear her... "tell me who You are"....

~ As the last of her question left her lips... He was before her once again.. His cape.. almost seeming alive.. licking at her body as if wanting to taste of her.. before He did...

"Why should I tell you? Have you done something to earn that?"

A sarcastic anwer was forming on her lips... an answer born of exhaustion and pain... but it never found voice... His hand ... the chilled touch... closing about her throat.. and she is lifted... her eyes going wide.. His grasp was tight enough to make her struggle for breath.. but not strangle.. both her hands wrap around His wrist.. His grin showed His fangs... razor sharp... He was drawing her to Him... NOOO.. He was going to bite her... the sudden realization brought a choked scream to her lips... when suddenly He too cried out..

"Ahhrggg!!!"

Her eyes.. slightly glazed over.. caught the licking of sunlight that reflected into the shadows of the alley.. the sun was coming up.. finally... But He.. did not release her.. as His growl of pain subsided... She was embraced to His chest.. His cape blocking out all light... darkness .. cold.. enveloped her.. He was taking her... taking her with HIM..

NOOOOOOO

A moment later.. she gasping for breath... she is thrown into a cell... an agonized scream of pain ripped from her lips as she hits her knee to the stone floor.. rolling.. rocking as she grabs at that tortured limb...

When she managed to look up.. He.. was gone...

"Talin.. You're in trouble" she whispered to herself.. as she tries to stand.. her knee would not support her tho.. not right now and with a grunt she fell back to the stone floor.. sighing softly.. she crawls to the furthest corner of the cell..

cell...

her tomb more than likely... she did not expect to survive the next 24 to 36 hours... and the thought did scare her..
Leaning her back against the bars... she draws up her legs... her knee was throbbing.. and lightly she ran her fingers over it...

"I'm sorry... Father... I.. failed... " she whispers to herself.. she was afraid of dying.. especially at the hand of a Vampire... but she was more disappointed... in herself... and she felt shame... her Father...ancestors.. had to be rolling over in their graves... none had ever failed like this.. none...

As the day progressed... Talin tried to walk.. putting weight on that knee slowly... as evening began to approach.. she was able to limp the perimeter of the cell... would that do her any good...?? Her only weapon was the stake in her boot... her crossbow had fallen from her when He lifted her by the throat.. it laying still in that alley... maybe if she could get HIm close... maybe.. she could get the stake into His heart... she had... to try... ~

That cackle of his filled the dungeon, echoing off of the walls. It moved as if on wings circling her cell, the very laughter crept up her body..a cool sensation like ice sliding against skin.

He stood just outside her cell, peering through the bars with those crimson eyes of his, stained with blood and despair. The lock clicked and the door swung open slowly.

"Follow me..."

He turned to walk down the dark corridor, his cape flowing elegantly behind him. He gave her no help, nothing in the way of kindness.

She had no choice, she followed without a second thought. The air was so cold, the candles dimly lit. A horrid aura filled this place, screams could be heard like faint whispers to her ears...

Do you have the strength left to fight back?...to use that stake?

He was in her mind...penetrating a place no one had the right to. Yet he strolled through the hallways of his castle and down every winding staircase with such a pride and arrogance...

I remember that name...Helsing...a hunter family...your great-grandfather...a strong hunter...

He finally stopped in the midst of a large ballroom, mirrors all around...dimly lit by candles atop several chandeliers, a larger one set in the middle. There were balconies on the second and third floors overlooking the main floor. He pointed to the middle of the room, a small stake was pinned to the floor, just off center. He smirked a bit.

"Your great-grandfather pinned me to that very spot once..."

He laughed a bit, his loneliness becoming more and more evident as the tour went on. He showed her relics of nights long passed...her own father's sword hung on his wall. A very large mantel with an inscription on it. It read...

To a friend long gone, yet still breathing deeply

He motioned across the smaller room to a statue of a woman, elegantly dressed. It was her grand-mother...Iliana.

"Ohh...how I miss you so..."

He brought a pale hand up to brush against the statue's cheek. His cape seemed to flow around it, wrapping about the statue's base, his back to Talin.

"We fought, your grand-father and I, countless times...for her..."

His voice was soft now, softer than she had ever heard before.

"Yes, I remember you now...heh, you were born not too far from here. A small village...the midwife was a stocky woman. I helped your father, for countless reasons you will never begin to understand. He was sick...but where I lusted...he loved...where I lost...he gained..."

There was a sort of hushed tone to his voice, as if he was trying not to cry...but vampires didnt cry, they couldnt...

"...and here we are my dear, here we are indeed."

He turned around quickly, that long cape flowing infront of his face as if in slow motion. He strode up to her, his hands were fast and within moments she was within his embrace, pressed agaisnt his chest.

"Will you kill me?...will you end my suffering?...do you have the strength left?"

He put her hand against his chest, where his heart should be beating but of course no sound was heard...or felt.

"...or will you fail like so many others!"

He pushed her away, letting the poor girl topple to the ground.

He pulled something from his cape, out of no where her axe was produced. He hurled it at her, the blade cutting into the ground just infront of her with ease.

That cackle of his filled the dungeon, echoing off of the walls. It moved as if on wings circling her cell, the very laughter crept up her body..a cool sensation like ice sliding against skin.

~ Talin had dozed off.. curled up in the corner of the cell.. she had begun calling it her.. grave... to herself... when that sound... the most evil she had ever heard... filled the room... it slithered up the walls... gliding around her grave.. she felt the touch of it to her skin.. making her shiver.. despite her trying to keep herself stilled...

The sun... had set....

He was there... His eyes penetrating the cell that she thought would be her grave... the deepest of blood red... but she saw something else in there... beside the blood of His... prey... His victims... she saw.. despair.... deep despair... she had not expected that...

"Follow me..."

The door swung open... He... did not approach her... at the moment His demeanor was not... threatening.. she limped from her... grave... slowly...

Following the caped form before her...

The cold was penetrating.. the halls dark... forelorn... she felt chilled... saddness.. death... lonliness.. all around her.. as she limped along in His wake..

Do you have the strength left to fight back?...to use that stake?

She paused... mid step... He did not look back... He made no indication that a voice ... His voice .. had just snaked into her mind...

I remember that name...Helsing...a hunter family...your great-grandfather...a strong hunter...

She growled low... He was in her mind... her sacred place.. shaking her head.. she stared at the back of the Vampire before her...

"yes... not just a strong hunter.. a great hunter... actually... none have bested His numbers... His kill numbers... since...... "

She never uttered a word... the thought simply scrolled across her mind... she almost snapped at Him to get out of her mind... but His touch was not... threatening... not at the moment.. so she stayed silent.. curious... following..

They stopped...

She stared up at the sword... reaching up to brush her fingers along the blade... it was her father's.. His intials were engraved into the metal... just as hers were.. in her silver stake..

"How?" she looked at the Vampire for a moment.. not understanding.. or maybe.. she did and did not want to...

The statue of her grandmother caught her totally off guard...... Talin's eyes widening in surprise... her grand father had a similiar statue...

Her grand-mother...Iliana.

"You... You ... fought for her?? You... " she went quiet at His last words... staring up at the Vampire.. she stepped back... her breath catching... she had NOT been prepared for any of this... He... knew... helped.. her father... He.. had loved her grandmother... He.. had been there when she herself had been born....
Her thoughts were swirling around in her mind... she had a desperate need to talk to HIM... ask Him about her grandmother... her grandfather.. her great grandfather.. He had ... seen them.. lived in their time... He could tell her so much....

She was lost in thought when He suddenly pulled her into His embrace.. His body cold.... a deep... bone chilling cold.. that wrapped around her even as His cape did... what surprised Talin was.. she did not struggle.. she felt no threat in His embrace...

"Will you kill me?...will you end my suffering?...do you have the strength left?"

He put her hand against his chest, where his heart should be beating but of course no sound was heard...or felt.

"...or will you fail like so many others!"

Cast away from Him... her knee gave out... she collasping to the stone floor... with a sudden gasp... the loud clang of her axe echoes... His strength propelling it hard enough to bury into that stone... she had always known it was razor sharp...

Using the handle.. she got to her feet.. it would have been much easier.. if her knee was not throbbing ... but she manages to stand... her eyes locked on the axe embedded in the stone... wrapping both hands around it.. with a loud yell.. she pulls it free.. she was not quite as weak as perhaps she looked...

Holding it... like one holds an old friend... she turns to the Vampire... because of the pain coursing thru her knee.. and the exertion of pulling the axe free.. she was breathing deeply...

"Will you kill me?...will you end my suffering?."

Kill Him... THAT was why she still breathed... He wanted her to kill Him... she could.. she knew she could... but why was she just standing there... staring...

The answer came unbidden into her mind... Beacause He had revealed Himself to be... a .. family... *friend*... He had loved her grandmother... her grandmother surely felt for Him... the woman had too much of a heart not to.. that much Talin knew...Her father... Her father had let Him witness her own birth... why??? She did not understand.. but she could not... kill Him...

Dropping the axe.. it clangs to the floor at His feet... she stepping back from it... the stake slipped from her boot... dropping beside the axe...

"Is that why You allowed me to live? why You brought me here? To kill You?.... Beast... ?? " He had not told her His name... "when now You know I can not.. not after ... that.. not right now anyway... You have so much... information.. knowledge... that I long to know.. "

She looked up at Him... focusing on those eyes.. those deep blood red eyes....

She saw desperate lonliness.. mirrored in that gaze.. she does not break her gaze...not until she sends the thought that she knew... He could hear...

"You miss her... don't You... my grandmother...I.. I can feel Your longing for her... Your... lonliness "

He closed his eyes a moment, a sneer growing across his face.

A slow growl at first...coming from deep within him, echoing off of the very walls...growing louder until he opened his eyes, letting out a howl that shook the very ground. The stone cracked and moaned under him as his cape rippled and shook.

Maiar was upon her quickly, he took her by the wrist, lifting Talin up with one arm while the other grasped her stake. He pushed her against the cold stone wall, growling at her all the while, his red eyes seemed to be on fire.

"MAIAR!"

He drove the stake through her hand into the wall.

"THAT'S WHAT SHE CALLED ME!"

The vampire slammed his fist against the wall, it shook the room, dust falling from the rafters.

"GAAAAHHHH!!!"

He hit it again, a thunderous violence that hadnt been seen before. A hole was left where he punched, revealing another room on the other side.

He was furious, his hand flew at her, grasping her neck. He tightened around her slender figure. He brought his other hand up, cocked it back and straightened out his fingers. He ment to skewer her chest with his very hand, he'd let her view her own heart before he crushed it into pulp.

His hand flew forward...but hit the wall next to her face, plunging in as his arm drove in. He let out another howl as he pulled his arm out of the wall and turned around, walking back a few feet only to turn around to face her again.

He couldn't kill her...not her...Iliana...

He looked down at her axe on the ground and picked it up, snapping it in half with ease. He ripped the bladed end out of it's position on the axe and walked up to her, taking her free hand and placing it on the blade while he held it in the center of his chest.

"DO IT!!!"

He growled at her, a furiousness in his eyes that burned at her very soul.

~ Talin screamed when He came at her.. she should have known better.. what the hell was she thinking...

Lifted...pinned to the wall.. her scream of shock was nothing compared to the deep throated howl as the stake was plunged clean thru her palm... her world swam as the intense pain swept over her helpless body...

"MAIAR!"
"THAT'S WHAT SHE CALLED ME!"

"focus.. FOCUS" she yelled at herself.. shaking her head to clear the fog of pain... she could feel warm wet blood trailing down her arm from the gaping wound that the stake had made...

MAIAR...

OH GOD... she KNEW that name... Her grandmother had told her of another love she had.. one that she had cared very deeply about.. that she had dreamed about... and sometimes.. regretted...
Talin had not quite understood.. did she not love grandpa? Of course she did... she just had a big enough heart to love another.. as well...

"GAAAAHHHH!!!"

His violent outburst ripped into her thoughts... another wave of pain from her impaled hand made her want to scream.. she managed not to.. as He grabbed her by the throat.. This time His fingers tightened... her intake of air before that silenced scream her last.. she could gain no more... eyes wide... she stared at Him...

"Maiar... DON'T" she manages to get out... she saw what He was about to do... rip her beating heart right out of her living chest.. "PLEASE MAIAR"... her voice went then.. she had no more air left and was unable to gain any...

She closed her eyes... trying to prepare for the tearing into her flesh.. instead He drove His hand deep into the stone wall she was impaled upon... the vibration sending agonizing pain thru her wounded hand.. the flesh and skin ripping... He releasing her throat... letting her breathe again..

It took all her strength not to let the pain drag her into unconsciousness... her eyes glazed she stares at Him... Her axe easily broken.. He comes to her .. blade in hand... wrapping her free hand around it..

"DO IT!!!"

Talin had never believed that Vampires could feel emotions.. other than the urge to feed and kill... she never thought One could feel anything akin to... lonliness... love... despair...

until now... she saw all of that in Maiar's eyes.. behind the burning rage.. the fire's of His hatred... or was it... regret..

Her voice was trembling.. but she manages to speak..

"Death will not stop the lonliness... the despair... Maiar... It would only bring it upon You 10 fold... You will not find her in death... You must know that... "

"Death will not stop the lonliness... the despair... Maiar... It would only bring it upon You 10 fold... You will not find her in death... You must know that... "

He stopped, his head lowering, those eyes closing...did her words strike a cord?

A small growl came from deep within him as he lifted his head, his eyes peering up at her with a hatred that could kill...and oh it so loved to. He howled at her again, his fangs bared, inches from her face as he took the blade and slammed it into her hand, pinning it to the wall as well.

"DONT YOU DARE TALK TO ME OF LONELINESS! YOU KNOW NOTHING, NOTHING OF DESPAIR!"

He pressed against her, his breath chilled her to the bone.

"I'VE LOVED AND LOST MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU WILL KNOW IN A LIFETIME!"

His hand slid up her inner thigh, his claws digging into the fabric, cutting it to ribbons. He met her one and only treasure with cold penetrating talons, easily tearing away her under garment. He violated that one sanctuary...no careful restrictions, no tender caress, no loving emotion whatsoever...only long slender icy claws with ill-regard for her personal feelings. He slid two in, lifting her up against the wall.

"WHAT MAKES YOU SO SPECIAL?!"

He growled at her again, pulling his fingers out a bit before plunging back into her, deeper this time, lifting her so that her arms were straight across against the wall.

"ANSWER ME GIRL!"

~ Her own breath held.. as He lowered His eyes... closing those flaming red eyes... her words had hit home.. rang true.. and she herself was surprised that a Vampire.. a Monster like Him... would feel those kinds of feelings..

She heard... felt.. the growl that began to build inside Him... When He howled at her... baring His razored fangs.. she was prepared... the slamming of the axe blade into and thru her other hand... she had not expected.. and her own agonizing SCREAM of pain exploded over His... her body convulsed.. back arching.. she was barely able to keep herself conscious... as the scream faded from her throat... her eyes lidded... glazed in pain...

"DONT YOU DARE TALK TO ME OF LONELINESS! YOU KNOW NOTHING, NOTHING OF DESPAIR!"

He pressed against her, his breath chilled her to the bone.

He was cold... cold and shuddering... pressing now against her trapped body... His scream into her face jarred her back to the here and now... her eyes widening to stare at Him... not just stare ... but glare.. Why was He torturing her this way... Just kill me and be done with it...she thought to herself...

That thought torn away at the violation... the penetration.. of His chilled fingers... claws... inside of her...

"No NO.. DON'T... " she yelled... her body tensed.. as His fingers drove up and inside of her.. she was dry and tight.. so very tight... her breath hissing in.. she had never been touched like this.. never allowed anyone near enough to her to be violated like this..

Her mouth was open in a silent cry... the pressure of His 2 fingers drove her up the wall.. her back slipping easily along the smooth surface.. the stake and axe securely holding her arms in place... buried deeply into the flesh of her hands... If she could have screamed.. she would have.. but her voice was taken from her at the moment.. the pain was sooo great... the humiliation of having Him.. His fingers.. inside her... she could only scream silently....

"WHAT MAKES YOU SO SPECIAL?!"

He growled at her again, pulling his fingers out a bit before plunging back into her, deeper this time, lifting her so that her arms were straight across against the wall.

"ANSWER ME GIRL!"

His fingers dug deeper.. this time she indeed did cry out.. the sound vibrating past her lips... to rattle the walls before dying out slowly... He was almost fully supporting her on that wall now... her body was trembling.. a wash of wetness.. not of pleasure.. but of neccessity.. coating those cold sharp lengths that impaled her... the muscles gripping tightly... her virginity... that thin barrier.. could be felt He was so deep within her..

She did not yell back... she did not even raise her voice.. but she answered His demand...

"I know ALL about despair and lonliness..." She had to pause to take a breath... the pain was beginning to wear on her.. she could not stop a tear that slid down her cheek...

"All I do is kill... I do not know Love.. I never have.. I never will... at least.. my Grandmother... Iliana... loved You... "

Talin lifted her head... looking at the Vampire..

"She may not have ever said it to You... but she did to me.. I know your name.. Maiar... She told me of You.. and her love for 2... men... You.. and my grandfather.. "

He looked up at her against the wall, her face...and expression of anger and saddness...pain and loneliness...Iliana's face flashed in his mind...he backed away from the girl immediatly, releasing his hold on her...she slid back down the stone wall.

His eyes went wide as if by suprise...and it was...had this been what he became? He let his anger control him so...It'd been so long since he felt the loving caress of a woman...the soft flesh against his...melting the ice, that barrior of hate and malice. He growled, a faint purr even as he fought within himself...

"Iliana..."

His hand reached out to the girl, his palm sliding across her cheek...

"I'm sorry Iliana..."

With one quick motion he tore the girl from the wall. Yes, it would be painful but the pain would subside...especially with his care it would, yes...he could still be of some use in this world.

He held her close, drifting up into the air of the castle and finally disappearing only to reappear in one of the many chambers, this one on the third floor. It was a grand bedroom...a large, very large bed sat high from the floor, four large poles on each corner of the frame, oak and strong. It had many a design carved into the surface of the bed frame all the way up to the mantel at the head of the bed.

Other items such as a vanity mirror and a grandfather clock sat in the room. There were dual doors at the far side wall, leading to an outside balcony that looked out over the lands he surveyed.

He carefully set her down on the bed, her hands already bandaged and a newly formed dress of crimson red clung to her figure as if created from the very blood that flowed from her.

"Rest Iliana..."

Why...why did he call her that? Did she resemble that woman so? No...it was something else...but what? What could cause him to lose his mind so? A vampire couldnt act like this...if his enemies knew...they'd come for him in force.

He staggered over to a rocking chair, cold metal...twisted into the shape of a chair by some skill artisan long ago. He slumped down in it, his head resting in his palm as he pondered what to do...what to do...

O.O.C.: I dont know if you wanted me to go this way, but it just kinda felt right...dunno...I can easily either A. Change the post or B. Get right back into the whole angry Maiar thing. Not a problem if you want to go that way.

Soru.. How you are writing and playing Him is perfect... Please write and play HIm as YOU see Him.. this felt right and You played it.. and it is working out wonderfully.. I love not knowing the character and how He is going to react..learning him.. as my character learns Him... makes me think in my responses.. so please.. You keep writing as You are... You are a great writer..

~ Her words again rang true... and He backed away.. she sliding back down the wall.. the pain was excrutiating.. but she manages to not scream.. altho the whole of her form was shuddering... her skin glistening with sweat from the sheer will power she was using to stay conscious...

Her head lowered... eyes closing.. a low moan managing to slip from her lips... her deep red hair clung to her wet skin.. both hands still bleeding... still pinned to the wall by stake and axe... her own weapons... she thought.. fitting that the weapons she used to kill... were bringing her pain... perhaps this was her punishment... for being a killer... nothing more than a killer...

"Iliana..."

His hand reached out to the girl, his palm sliding across her cheek...

"I'm sorry Iliana..."

Talin leans her cheek to His touch... seeking that small bit of comfort amidst the searing torture that she were suffering... her tears.. silent... wet His palm... in her haze.. she indeed heard His voice... the same pain she were feeling... not the physical.. but that horrible lonliness.. she heard that same lonliness in His voice...

Her scream as she was torn from the wall finally took her consciousness... she now limp in the Vampire's embrace... her sub conscious was howling at her to wake up.. He would kill her if she did not wake up... but a deeper part of her knew.., He would not... a soft voice spoke soo deep in her quieted mind... "He will not kill You my sweet granddaughter... for You are His true love... He saw YOU in me... not me in You... He just does not know it yet... "

She could not answer.. but the words.. did they even make sense...?? She was not sure... but that was her grandmother's voice that she heard... that much she was sure of... and in that .. she found comfort...

Talin.. in her dream haze... heard Maiar's voice...

"Rest Iliana..."

*************************************

When she awoke...her eyes fluttering open... she did not move right away... taking a deep breath... her mind racing to place where she was.. what had happened... how long as she slept... it felt like ... days...

In reality is was many hours... the night had passed... it was now daylight once more... as Talin's eyes focused.. she saw light filtering around the heavy drapes that shielded the window... but that light was fading.. it had to be late afternoon... she certainly had slept...

Looking around the room... she drew the blanket about her form... feeling the bandages on both hands... looking down... the memory of what He had done to her.. the stake.. her own.. in one hand.. the axe in the other.. yet... He had bandaged her... she touched each with a fingertip.. as she remembered the night prior...

She could leave right now... run... or... better yet.. find His ... place.... and kill Him... but she was already shaking her head NO... she would not... He had spared her...she could not ... repay Him that way....

and that voice ... her grandmothers...He saw YOU in me... not me in You... He just does not know it yet... ...

What did she mean??

Should she run? Hell she did not even know where she was.. if she were in His... Keep... then more than likely there were many Vampires... Maiar... the M on the other's palm... She was in the midst of many... It were better she stay right where she was... and... deep down inside... she wanted to see.. talk to.. Maiar .. again..

She never even realized that the thick drapes were drawn for a reason.. Maiar sat still in that same twisted rocking chair.. in the shadows... her senses were off... seemingly weakened by what she had been thru... otherwise she would have known He were there... the moment she opened her eyes..

When her eyes caught His figure... sitting silently... in the shadows... watching her... she felt the slightest of shivers curl down her spine..

"Maiar" she whispered... letting her eyes lock on Him ~

He spoke, his eyes remained shut...

"What does one such as myself, who has everything and nothing, need to make him happy?"

He clicked his long nails on the metal of the chair's armrest.

"What is happiness...a beautiful woman? The sunrise in early morning?"

His boot tapped upon the cool dark marble of the floor.

"Is it so vague a concept that I cannot see the answer?"

Hypothetical questions, he did not expect a response. Finally his eyelids rose, revealing those ever dominating red orbs.

"Tal...Talin? That is your name, is it not?"

He motioned for her to look at the end of the bed, out of her range of sight, her gear..fully repaired including weapons and clothing. All of her belongings were gathered there. It was his way of apologizing personally. Although he prefered his style of dress for her, he was sure she'd miss her own clothes.

"I'll make you a deal my dear. You may ask one question of me...if I may ask one of you in return."

"Tal...Talin? That is your name, is it not?"

~ She nodded.. as His firey eyes opened to settle upon her.. She had moved to the edge of the bed... the crimson silk caressed over her skin..feeling amazingly soothing.. and ... arousing..

She followed His gaze... and saw her .. belongings... weapons.. her backpack of clothing.. slipping from the bed.. bared feet lightly touching the floor.. she moved to her stuff... letting her fingers roam over each one.. then looking back to Him.. as she fished thru one of the pack's pockets...

Her hands still throbbed... but the searing pain was only a memory... the whole night prior was a nightmare actually.. one she had managed to survive...

"I'll make you a deal my dear. You may ask one question of me...if I may ask one of you in return."

She nodded... as her fingers found what she had been looking for...

"Mine is.. 2 part.. if that is.. acceptable.... Maiar... If You were in love with my Grandmother.. why do You think she chose my grandfather..?"

She was curious what His thoughts on that were... the memory of her grandmother's voice in her mind the night prior being the reason she asked the question.. ~
