I appreciate the PMs and the emails. It's almost as if I have my own personal cheering section.

10 days....you're over the hump, no pun intended, good for you!
I've been smoking for so long, I think I'd dry up and float away if I quit. Besides I'm difficult enough now and if I stopped, it be pure hell! Maybe if I was stranded somewhere with no cigarette for a year or so with no one around, I might do it!

Keep it up, just don't bitch at smokers after you get over it completely. My dad quit and bitches about everyone smoking.... He's even said he likes the smell, but dosen't want to smoke again.

I won't become one of those "ex smokers". Trust me. I hate those people.

I'm using the patch.. that is why I think I'm doing so well. The true test will be when the patch is removed.

My mom still smokes and I'm around it almost 24 hours a day. (I swear to god she smokes that much).

So far.. the smell has annoyed me. Bothered me in a way that makes me not want to smoke anymore.

I believe on the box it says "Do not attempt to light the patch and smoke it".

your doctor is a quack.... Zyban is supposed to be taken while you smoke and the smoking tapers off, the patch (from what I understand) is to be used seperate from smoking because it contains nicotine and through time the dose is metered down. So to smoke use the patch and use Zyban, that would be increasing your intake while trying to quit.

I made it one the third try. First try my wife bought a carton saying that it was cheaper than a divorce. Second try i began sneeking a cig every few days,then every day, then gave in. Third try was just befor surgery, bought my last carton, smoked down to the last pack, smoked that to the last but. haven't had one since. That was in 1984!

You have to want to quit befor you can.

Keep wanting to quit.

This is my first try.. using something other than a good slap on my wrist when I wanted a cigarette.

I bought the patches and three packs of cigarettes.. I smoked two of the three packs and decided on Thursday.. I could either open the third pack or open the patches.

The un opened pack of cigs were given to my mother.

I use NicodermCQ.. i researched it..and I'm following the instructions to the T...

I have had NO cravings at all... I've "reached" for my cigarettes a few times.. like while sitting at my computer. That is where I smoked the most. I didn't crave the cigarette.. it was a habit that I finally broke. I no longer look for the pack..

but like I've said.. this is a 10 week program.

10 days down.. 60 more to go on the patch. After that it's a lifetime of not smoking.

honestly.. I miss it... but sometimes I miss my ex too.. But I won't go back to him either
