I have been awed and amazed how people's convictions to a principle can cause them to act in ways that would lead to the sacrifice of their own lives. The 2 men in the rubber raft, the burning monks, the martyrs of the various religions, the soldiers who volunteered to fight and defend their countries.

Do any of you feel strong enough about any ideal or principle that you would sacrifice your own life??? I know that I would willingly die to save my family but I am really hard pressed to think of anything else worth dying for. How about you???

I can say I would willing die for any one of my children or kill to protect them. Other than that, no I cannot think of anything I would die or kill for.

Of course.......

Blue, the first thing that jumps to my mind is.....

Spoken like a true lawyer. AND! That's meant to be humorous.

I would die for lots of circumstances that all involved principal - those principals I hold dear. Things I know - are absolutely right and worth dying for.

The circumstance could vary widely - I may not even know or see such a circumstance, until it is upon me - and this could happen at any time - any place. I won't know until right before it happens - right before I die.

Hmmm.... This is quite an interesting thread.. See, up till about a month and a half ago, I had nothing to live for, really. I was ready to go out and do anything, and not give a flying fuck about wether I lived or died as a result. Thankfully though, I'm a reformed man now. :)
To a degree, I still don't care. But I wouldn't wilfully endanger the life of a friend, unless they didn't care either.
