To cut or not to cut.

I was watching a very interesting programme in the UK on BBC4. It featured a bunch of English men travelling the United states to try to understand the Americans obsession with mutilating their new born male babies with a extremely barbaric procedure knwon as male circumcision. Being in possession ofg an anotomically correct male member I am hoping to initiate a fully open discussion regarding all apsects of being cut or not. The floor is open..... :nana:

Something tells me you're not that interested in open discussion.

Being a possessor of a circumcised penis myself, I'd have to be quite honest and say that I've never thought much about it. As I understand the practice, it all started as a result of various religious customs. Not being at all religious, I couldn't tell you which.

When we had our son, however, our doctor suggested that we have him circumcised because of medical reasons. Apparently, a circumcised penis is less prone to infections. Not sure if its true or not, but that is what the Doc said and from a parents standpoint it was a small price to pay (no pun intended) for a potential benefit.

When my nephew was born, my brother and sister-in-law went ahead and had him circumsized. My brother told me about a conversation he had. When questioned if it was for religious beliefs by their doctor, my brother said that he did not want his son to deal with the problems he'd had. Apparently, he'd had a lot of problems because he was 'uncut' with infections and the like.

I know it started off as a religious belief and though I am admittedly not religious, I know that most of the food/physical guidelines in a certain book were put there for sanitary reasons.

Nowadays, it's a personal preference. A lot of parents are concerned about health and go ahead and have it done for their sons. I wouldn't call it mutilation or a thing Americans have introduced. To be honest, I'd probably talk to the Romans who invaded Britiania and brought in the christian religion.

Makes me glad I'm a girl!! lol! Just joking..but anyway...more thoughts?

I was raised in the Jewish faith and had all my sons circumsized. However 35 years later, I have found through various doctors and research there are no medical reasons for having a circumcision.

The problems, such as infections, some people have is due strictly to cleanliness and hygiene! If you simply pull the foreskin back and wash that cock with soap and water daily you will be fine. Some people shower daily, but fail to pull the foreskin back and wash underneath that skin. Bacteria can build underneath and it needs to be washed away.

Had I had to do it all over again, I would not have had the children circumsized.

Hope this helps!

All this shit some people come out with about how "it’s much cleaner to be circumcised" is exactly that...shit. I f this were true then every male out there who is uncircumcised would be dirty or have some kind of infection.
As I understand it, after the war there was a large influx of Jews to the states and they were circumcised for religious reasons. A lot of them went into medicine and realised how much money was to be made by convincing people that it’s cleaner to be circumcised., hence the myth.

I hope you weren't dissing my post above yours, but I agree with you. Circumcision has nothing to do with being any cleaner. Washing one's self does! This goes for both cut or uncut.

I have known people who have gotten infections while uncircumcised. Most of the time, not all, are due to hygiene. People who do not know how to care for an uncircumcised cock, will and do get infections. Bacteria is the culprit.

The health reasons are seriously oversold since they are non-existent. Check out the Penn and Teller episode of episode of Bullshit on this subject. You do have to keep it clean but yanking on your tool in the shower. This isn't a hard sell to males of all ages. I've had one friend who had his foreskin removed due to recurrent infections. My take is if this happens to you in adulthood get it removed just like your tonsils. We don't remove babies tonsils since we know they will get infected someday, why foreskins? But I still have my tonsils. If it sounds stupid, has no science to back it up it must be religion not medicine.

I'm glad I'm circumsized. There are plenty of uncircumsized guys who do NOT keep it clean to turn me off to it. Plus it doesn't need to just be cleaned once a day it needs to be cleaned much more frequently - otherwise it gets to smelling. That has been my experienced with uncircumsized guys. If you have ever given a urine sample, you'll noticed that they have alcohol swipes to clean off an uncircumsized penis before giving example -- otherwise you'll contaminate the sample. That in and of it self lets you know that it cannot be too clean. Now some guys may get off on the smell or smegma that forms. It doesn't do a thing for me.

I'm uncircumcised. I bath every night and I've never had a problem with hygiene, so for me and many others cleaning once a day is enough. Also the foreskin protects the head so while your head is covered in dust and hair and god only knows what else mine isn’t.

When I was much younger I cruised bathrooms like guys used to do. I noticed that a lot of uncircumsized guys when they urinate they would not peel it back to avoid trapping urine in their folds. Of course not all uncut cocks have that long a skin, but I seldom noticed that those with a lot of skin would bother to pull it back.

In general whenever you have overlapping skin things can get trapped in there such as sweat and dead skin.

My experience with 100's (if not in the thousands) of men over the last 25 years is that hygene isn't at the top of their list. I doubt most guys clean it that often, just like most guys don't floss after every meal.

It isn't necessarily just because they are "guys", it can also be cultural. For instance, in my trips to various places in Europe, it amaised me that a good number of people do not bath on a daily basis. It doesn't mean that Europeans have inferior cultures, but those that do bath frequently can sense the difference with someone who does not. For myself, I prefer to shower daily and other than deodorant, I don't like perfume over my body-- just soap/shampoo cleaning everywhere.

If you are happy with the way you are that is absolutely fine. However, way too many men glorify the uncircumsized cock as being superior. It isn't, it is just different with its own set of pros and cons just like circumcision has its pros and cons.

I will be always very grateful that my family took care of it when I was a newborn. I don't think I would have had the courage to have a knife even near that region if I had been old enough to understand what was going on.

I find the uncut preachers fucking offensive and I wish to Christ they'd fuck off.

Like it don't like it. Would or would not have it done to their kids...whatever. What makes anyone think it's relevant to this forum? Go post it in the GB and see what the whining fuckers over there have to say.

It shits me to tears when women get in on it too.

And don't get me started on the fucktards who claim to have infantile memories of the horror. Jesus fucking christ.

I'm going to post like this in every thread I see about circumcision from now on so get used to it. The self righteousness makes me see red.

cutting is a middle eastern custom, and religions originating here (christianity, judism, islam) advocate cuting. hinduism for example, which did not originate in the ME does not cut.

then there is the medical angle, not subscribed to by all, but valid.

so to all their own, not a discussion matter for most, but infringing on their beliefs. so let this be.

btw, i am cut and i enjoy most things done with the cut memebr as much and many uncut - however, i know someone who had a change of religion at 27, and cut his thingy, he said it is more enjoyable with a cut one !!

especially no bother with pulling the skin back to clean under before his girl sucked him off (time saving advantage i guess)

Mine got chopped. I don't remember how "Barbaric" it was. I've been with both cut and uncut guys. Doesn't really seem to matter either way.

I live in New Zealand and it is very rare for males to get the circumcised. Hygiene problems do not happen as males are taught to pull back the skin and wash. Just like cleaning under your finger nails.

I have only seen one circumcised penis in person and found it less fun to play with.

I would think it would be EASIER to clean a cut one
I dont see it being any cleaner, minus the possible dribble collection of an uncut. I'm not sure if I had a boy if I'd cut him or not

apparently, my unit would be more sensitive if it were uncut? ffs, I can barely keep the nut in as it is- if it were any more sensitive, there would be a few more unhappy ladies out there. :p

Oh, it's so freaking boring and has been discussed to death before.

I had it done for MEDICAL reasons. I had a CONDITION. It totally and utterly cured my problem and not only that, 'activity' has been greatly enhanced. It was the best thing I ever did and should have had it done years ago.

OK, not so sure about minors who have no say in the matter, but as an adult I'm absolutely delighted with the result - so you can shove your 'barbaric act' stance.

(Long-time lurker, first time post, hee!)

I don't care is an adult man wants to have himself circumcised, whether it's because of religion, hygene, or if he just thinks it looks better.

But you can't know what a baby boy will want when he grows up. You can't know what his future partner/s will want. If I have a son, I won't have him cut.

I really like Dan Savage's (Savage Love) position:
Some men and women gag at the sight of an uncircumcised penis, A.Z., but they're assholes that you wouldn't want your grown son to fuck anyway, right?

As for whether or not men prefer to be circumcised, well, most cut men are happy with their dicks, and most uncut men are happy with theirs. The thing about the unhappy cut men, though, is that they can't get uncut, you know what I'm saying?

That second letter he posts is heartbreaking...
Speaking parent-to-parent, A.Z., and speaking as a contentedly circumcised adult male who likes his dick just the way it is and has no truck whatsoever with hysterical anti-circumcision activists (whew!), I would rather teach my son to wash under his foreskin than assume even the tiniest risk of him losing the head of his penis in a botched circumcision.

Hmmm..

I'm glad to see this topic. I've asked every male I know about this. I have a friend who was cut, and is now "regrowing" (essentially stretching) his foreskin to "get it back"... After reading all the documentation on it, I'm convinved that while it was once a health benefit, our personal hygiene and shower facilities have advanced enough that it's no longer a problem.

While I think that a cut penis is "prettier", and more "streamlined", I've never played with an uncut penis, so I have no basis for comparison when it comes to enjoyment.

I also don't think it matters what your partner thinks is "pretty", it's what works the best for YOU. If an uncut penis would make a better experience for the person who wields it, then awesome. If that's not working out to the best advantage for them, then by god, go get cut.

I'm really curious about guys' opinions on this though. I just like to know: which do you have, and would you recommend it; why or why not?

If I ever have kids, this is one thing that seriously weighs on my mind. I will not have my kids cut JUST because my man "wants his son to look like him". That's fucking retarded, and I think we need to be a little more open-minded and better informed than that...

So opinions rock. :)
