Lyria Wolf
Half Fallen
Half human

Her father had been the Fallen of Lust her mother some mortal who had unfortunately found herself in his path when he became unbound and free for a time to roam the earth. Lyria knew of her ability and the lure she could manipulate and how whenever she was near one of the other fallen her birthright power fought to take control. She has worked for years now hunting her father and his siblings brethren whatever they are.

~~~~~~~~~~~
More than one fallen unbound... Jacob his usual arrogant self and the archbishop about to devour her last nerve with his "You will not prevent the police from doing what they can for the mortals... Even if that does get in the way of your infernal ways.". In the way... Yeah the cop was in the way in the dark about she and Jacob and what they were and that wasn't the worst of it. Not only does she have to fight unbound fallen but risk her innate powers distracting him and causing some fawning mortal following her around. At least here she could be at peace... What little peace even a half demon can know.
Another night another bottle of tequila as Lyria sat back in a darkened corner staring out over the club. Some hyperactive band from Greece dancing around the stage singing in both Greek and English about alcohol clearly another invite from Katia, she did have pretty good taste in music. It was rare that she take any real down time but since she had for now parted company with her former associates she had found this little place to hang out that also gave her a decent vantage point for not only the darker points in this town but also the less expected proper and "high society" decadence that her kind also used as hunting grounds. Not all of the fallen nor their offspring have to leave their hunting to the poorer and darker parts of town. There is just as much if not more corruption and easily manipulated people who are loaded with money to satisfy those manipulated dark desires and needs.
It was a slow night a surprisingly peaceful night as she sat back thinking more over what the spawn of yet another unbound fallen had to say... NO salvation for the damned... Why not give in and take her rightful place in this mortal world... all it took was to give into her demonic blood instead of fight it and hunt her own kind. With her "powers" she would never be lonely... no she would never me alone lonely was very different. Having powers of lust it was clear who her father was she had fought and sent him back to his prison a couple of times. It seemed like all her life she had been fighting them... at least since her powers activated and she learned what she was. Her powers have since them given her companions but nothing that she was ever sure was real and not just human hormones reacting to her powers.
She watched a young couple dance and kiss and seem so very much in love and shook her head... they were happy now but what would their life hold for them in 30 years? She saw another couple but the man held the scent of another woman on him as well the woman he was dancing with held the scent of anther male as well. Affair perhaps... or a prostitute and her latest paycheck... who knew. Two very different angles of this human existence and only two of many.
Her eyes closed and opened slowly seeming to softly flash red then back to their deep brown near black mortal color. Someone or something was near but what and was it there seeking her or just happened to wander into her general area? No the sense was not being masked... not being suddenly "covered up" this presence was no accident... She did not acknowledge it directly and poured herself another shot of tequila and sat back drinking.
They get a rise out of you that they will never know about.
A male voice slithered through the ethers for her ears only.
Join me for a drink or get out Jacob.
Her voice sliced through for his ears.
Jacob laughed a little and spoke again
Perhaps another time Lyria... looks like your pet cop is looking for you.
Dane gazed at the photo's from the last murder victim trying to see anything he might have missed. The person in the photo was a woman yet to be identified though probably a prostitute judging by her dress and location. She appeared to be in her mid to late 20's, Caucasian and dead several hours. Her body had been the 9th one found in less than three weeks not all women nor all prostitutes. But they did have one thing in common. They had all been killed either by strangulation or by extreme trauma from an undetermined mechanism. They had also been almost ripped apart almost as if some wild animal had tried to gut them. The coroners report had revealed causes of death and found drugs or alcohol in some of their systems while some had been totally clean. No links between the victims had been established and no DNA evidence had been found. It was obvious to Dane that the city had a serial killer on the loose.
There was one other common denominator and that was her. He had noticed the striking woman that carried herself with confidence and a "Don't Fuck With Me" attitude. The uniform cops on scene had allowed her access to the bodies before he arrived and when he asked them who she was they only could tell him they had orders from high up to allow her to examine the scene. They pointed her out to him but when he went to talk to her she was gone. Asking the Police Chief who she was only resulted him being told she was to be left alone and given latitude that any other information about her was above his pay grade. This warning did little to deter Dane as he felt certain she had information that could be valuable to him. She was always on scene ahead of him and occasionally in the company of a blonde headed guy that had the same air of confidence about him.
The one time he had gotten a chance to talk to her it had not been informative. The woman answered his questions the way a skilled politician would without revealing a damn thing. He threatened to haul her pretty little ass downtown for withholding evidence and she only laughed. He did find out her name was Lyria but there was something different about this woman and he couldn't put his finger on it. Before he could question her further one of the uniforms brought over a potential witness and when he turned back to her she had pulled her little disappearing act once more.
Dane pulled into the club's parking lot that was reserved for patrons who didn't wish to use the valet parking. This club was one of the new upscale clubs in a revitalized section of town that attracted the rich and weird at least that was his opinion. He had heard through the grape vine that Lyria hung out here a good bit and Dane wanted to finish that conversation they had started.
He walked up to the door and was immediately stopped by a large muscle bound guy with no neck holding a clipboard and a ear piece sticking from one ear. Dane didn't smile at the man as he held open his wallet displaying his badge and police ID. The man didn't let Dane in immediately as expected but instead called someone on his earpiece. "You can go in but don't cause any trouble our clientele here has the money and power to make you regret things." Dane's reply dripped with sarcasm, "Oh well I wouldn't want any trouble."
Entering the club his senses was assaulted with sound and light first. There was a band playing some god awful music on stage and they had the sound of some Euro trash to him. The place had a renaissance feel to it and dripped of decadence. He began walking through the crowd trying to catch a glimpse of her and was about to give up when he spotted her seated alone in a dark corner. Dane walked over to her table and peered down at Lyria, "So we meet again are you going to disappear on me tonight?"
Good evening officer...Higher ups sanction this little meeting or are acting on your own tonight?
She motioned across the table to the empty chair as her eyes looked as if looking through him.
Let me guess... you have questions...
Her condescending tone did nothing to alleviate the frustration this woman was causing him.
"I don't need a sanction from a superior to talk to you. But to answer your question I'm doing this on my own accord."
He reluctantly took the seat that she had motioned for him to sit in almost feeling like a school boy being told to sit by the teacher.
After sitting he took a good long look at Lyria and was amazed at how beautiful she truly was in every way. It wasn't just her body but her bone structure and of course those damn eyes. He remembered those eyes now piercing eyes that seemed to reach down to his very soul and stare at him. Eyes you could lose yourself within, eyes that seemed to watch everything but yet nothing.
Dane snapped himself out of,,,"What was it", he thought? A trance was the only word that came to mind to describe what he had experienced.
"Yes I have plenty of questions but let's start with the most glaring question. Who the hell are you lady and what are you doing here?"
She laughed...
Ah yes pick up right from the last crime scene...I am Lyria and as for what I was doing there... My job... Beyond that officer you will have to advance in rank apparently before they give you any more details. Let me guess other questions would be why is the archbishop holding nearly daily meetings with your boss and what does that have to do with Jacob and I... Or do you have more... Personal questions... Officer?
A smile slithered across her lips as she watched him. Jacobs voice in her mind with a chuckled play nice that she blatantly ignored.
Dane wasn't used to being upended by people like this woman a civilian as far as he knew and it infuriated him. Taking a deep breath Dane forced a smile.
"Yes that is exactly some of the questions I have for you. I don't give a shit that my superiors feel that they need to keep me out of the loop. We have a serial killer on the loose and innocent people are getting killed. It's my job to stop him or her."
Dane wasn't going to learn anything from direct questions this he knew but she had already given him two pieces of information he didn't have. The blonde guy he had seen with her a few times was named Jacob. He had noticed the Arch Bishop having meetings behind closed doors with his Chief and even the Deputy Mayor one night. He hadn't linked the church to this veil of secrecy surrounding the murders but now it made sense. He knew the Chief and Deputy Mayor were both Catholic but he just assumed they were planning the next bake sale for the church. But these meetings had started right after the second murder and now she brought up the Arch Bishop there was certainly a connection. It wasn't much but better than nothing.
Dan had noticed her wicked smile and had not been able to resist scanning her lithe and toned body coiled up in the chair. The rise and fall of her chest only served to accent her breasts and he once again found himself seemingly drawn into her eyes. He realized it quicker this time and snapped himself out of it. He hoped she didn't notice his momentary lapse.
"Alright if I can't know certain things then why don't you tell me what you can after all you seem to know my questions before I ask."
A waitress appeared at their table and he started to wave her off but at the last second said, "Nothing for me but a refill for whatever the lady is drinking."
The club owner knew Lydia and Jacob well. She knew what they were too and she didn't care. She however did not trust cops and one questioning her friend agitated her even more. She called over one of the waitresses to go check on Lyria. Walking over the waitress studied the situation before nodding to the cop.
One more bottle of whiskey.
She walked away as Jacob walked over and sat down by her. He wanted to test and see if the cop might be affected by her powers as he slipped an arm around her and a hand on her thigh.
So what's up over here... By the way progress report to the council tomorrow so don't play around too late.
Lyria ignored them all still talking with the cop.
Well let's start at the beginning of your questions and I will answer what I can or want to.
The sudden appearance of Jacob surprised Dane and he nodded to the man. He watched as he sat down close to Lyra and draped a arm around her. They spoke about a council meeting and he wondered what council? He doubted seriously that they were referring to the city council but he didn't ask.
Lyria for her part didn't seem to be paying him much attention. He kept having a hard time getting past,,,, what was it? She just seemed to be surrounded within this feeling of list or desire.
"Well darling the ball is in your court and this the part where we share a little. You give me something I want I give you something you want."
And what do you think you could give me officer?
That smirk grew as her eyes seemed to flash a little. Jacob laughed and nodded as the waitress brought the drinks.
Our involvement is not something we can tell you... Its not our job. So what information do you think we can give you? Or... You could let us do our job and you do yours and drop this power play on your part.
Her eyes moved to the door as a young man in a black suit and walked over to her directly.
Lyria... You need to head to old town... Now.
An almost inhuman growl fell from her as she stared at the messenger who seemed to not like being around her.
He had been expecting her to ask what information he might have that she didn't already have access to.
"I know that you have access to my reports but a good cop never puts everything he knows or suspects in preliminary reports."
He waited a moment to see if he might spark the least bit of doubt that he might know something she didnt.
A man in a black suit walked over to Lyria saying something about old town he couldn't quite catch everything. He seemed a little out of place and nervous. Lyria's reaction was a little shocking as she seemed angry or perturbed.
He glanced at Jacob then back at Lyria. "Well here is my card with my cell call anytime if you feel you would like to talk. As far as the power play that's not what this is about. I don't like being shut out on my on case and let's just say you two know things and that bothers me."
Dane sat there for a few seconds to see if she would reapond and then stood.
Lyria stood looking to Dane as the man in the suit ran from the bar.
You wanna know what we do... Fine...
Jacob started to protest but a glance from Lyria and a reminder of the churches fool decision about the young nun and Jacob held his hands up and nodded.
Let's go....
Lyria walked over to a motorcycle outside the door followed by Jacob to another bike as they looked to Dane. Once all were mobile she motioned for them to follow her. Arriving at the location there was a clear scent that she knew well. A low growl slipped from her as she got off the bike. Looking around she tried to get her bearings before looking to Jacob.
Stay with him and head east towards the bridge I will head north towards the water.
Dane had a flashback to his youth and allowed his own smart ass personality to slip through, "So I get to see what the cool kids do for fun."
They didn't find his statement as amusing as he found it. "That was funny..... come on you know that's funny."
Lyria and Jacob each walked over to a motorcycle and he could only shake his head. Under his breath he muttered "I knew they rode motocycles."
Dane climbed into his 4wd Jeep which had the top off and started following them. He wondered where in the hell they were going and was this just some game she was playing. But the longer he stayed with her the better the chance he had of figuring out what was going on.
Arriving in Old Town Dane got out of the Jeep feeling for his weapon and his backup in an ankle holster and his boot knife on the other side.
"Dane followed as ordered and waited to see what the big deal was all of a sudden. "
Jacob just nodded to her.
Be careful Lyria...
Looking to Dane with a nod...
Let's go and stay close... And try not to piss off anything we run into.
Lyria simply seemed to vanish into the darkness as she began to hunt. She knew either her father or one of his spies was lurking around as she growled low. Shadows darted across her path as if trying to lure her further away.
Really... Are you that scared of me?
She hissed as she walked two people coming out of nowhere charged at her. Her eyes glowed red as she grinned until she felt the energy coming off them a d hissed... Shit... She knew it was her father luring her and attacking. Mortals burning with more lust and power than they could handle knowing only that following orders about her would gain them release before they died literally of need. She would be able to take some of their suffering but that would ramp her own lust powers to levels she did not like dealing with.
Jacob stalked his way towards the bridge only to lose the scent and have a strange looking young woman hand him a paper...
You can still join us Jacob... Then she can be all yours... No sharing with... Humans.
Jacob snorted
I am in a good mood witch... Leave and if anything happens to her... I kill you first.
Dane wasn't happy about going with Jacob but he did as he was asked. They headed out into the darkness and their was peculiar feel to the air tonight. Something that touched Dane's inner soul. There had been a lot of unusual feelings sense he had met Lyria and he had no idea why.
Jacob moved slowly almost as if he was stalking someone or something. He didn't seem to have much trouble navigating in the darkness. Dane was thankful the moon was almost full and made it easier for him to match Jacob's pace.
Jacob stopped in front of the bridge throwing up his hands. Then out of the darkness a young woman appeared walking towards Jacob.
The woman held out a piece of paper and began talking about joining them and she could be his. Who was she was it Lyria?
Then Dane heard the strangest thing, "No sharing with humans."
Well Dane thought that it couldn't get stranger when he heard Jacob's retort calling her a witch.
Dane had no clue what to say or do so he just simply watched the exchange his mind swirling around trying to process everything.
Jacob opened the paper as she laughed and walked back into the darkness. A simple message in a strange red ink...
~Too late halfbreed~
Jacob read it sniffing a little at it before turning...
Son of a...
His eyes almost looked as if they were glowing as he took off running back in the direction Lyria had headed.
Move it cop!
Was all he yelled as he did not wait for him.
~~~~~

Lyria took the full brunt of the charging humans grabbing them and feeling the expected bolt of pure demonic energy of lust pain pleasure and hunger. She threw the lighter of the two to the ground as she squared off against first one making him burn through even more energy in essence killing the already dying mortal body.

Pathetic... That the best you got vermin?

Laughter rang out around her as the second human struggled to stand and charge at her. He carried more intense powers from her father than the big guy as he seemed programmed to simply grab her let the energy fall from him to her like a monsoon as the body died once the power passed.

Once her battle was over Lyria knelt there shaking her features more demonic yet still very sensual as she felt all the power she knew she could have if she did not keep it on lock down and fought her darker side. His voice slithering around her as he circled around her.

Tell me child it is not intoxicating... That power that hunger... Why do you want to fight it so? Good luck child... It appears the halfbreed is bringing you a victim...

Have laughed as Jacob charged into view...

We meet again half breed... Follow me and let us continue our fight and leave her the mortal sacrifice... Or... Stop her.

With that the strange Greg haired man slipped into the shadows with a laugh as Jacob saw Lyria and felt the powerful energy from the fallen of lust and the power flowing through Lyria and cursed under his breath...

Dane ran for all he was worth trying to keep up with Jacob in what seemed like a life or death run. He suspected that Lyria was in some sort of danger though he had no idea why or from what.

Dane lost sight of Jacob for a few seconds and then he saw Lyria and a strange looking guy with grey hair. He skidded to stop and as he did so his eyes landed on a body and Dane instantly reached for his gun. He was stopped short by a wave of strange energy that washed over his body and it took all his effort to pull the gun from its concealed holster.

He heard them speaking but comprehended little other than hearing "half breed" and before he could do or say anything the man was gone. A profound look of confusion spread across his face as he looked to Lyria.

Stay here...

Jacob told him as he seemed to warily move towards Lyria. She was kneeling there on the ground near the bodies shaking. Jacob checked the bodies and moved to her but seemed to make every effort not to touch her.

Get... him... out... of... here... Now!

She growled out as she tried to contain and silence to overwhelming power thundering through her in that moment. She could easily submit an entire fraternity park of college dorms to her sexual will right now but that was not who she was she was nothing like her father that is why she count the demonic side so much.

The need to go to Lyria was so intense that he felt drawn to her as if some other force. It was almost like he was a puppet on strings being controlled by a puppet master.

Jacob's command to stay put cut through the urges but just barely.

Dane's feet carried him forward two steps but he stopped. Cop instinct began to kick just a bit and his eyes surveyed the scene. But any further investigation was cut short as he heard the desperation and something else in Lyria's voice. Perhaps it was fury or want but it was powerful and strong.

She yelled almost pleaded to Jacob to get him out of here. Who was he was she referring to him?

"Lyria what happened here are you alright?" The concern in his voice was genuine.

Jacob was instantly at his side shoving him along.

"MOVE NOW DON'T MAKE MR CARRY YOU!" Jacob's voice left no room for argument and Dane moved quickly back towards their vehicles with Jacob bringing up rear guard.

Jacob stood by the bike mumbling... Wondered when he would do something like that... Get it together Lyria...

His attitude and demeanor seemed almost combative as he stared in the direction they left Lyria.

~~~~~
Lyria crouched there struggling to kill the intense energy surging through her. His strongest attack yet trying to turn her to his side but he would not win. Finally gaining control she stood on wobbly legs and looked to the two bodies.
Once back at the vehicles Dane walked over to Jacob looking him in the eye. "What the fuck just happened", Dane demanded of Jacob.
Jacob seemed lost in thought and it wasn't till he started walking back to Lyria that he spoke asking him to be patient and just wait.
Dane stopped and walked over to his jeep taking a bottle of water from the Yeti cooler in the back. He opened it and sucked down half the bottle aat once . The cool liquid soothed his suddenly very dry throat and he leaned against the back of the Jeep feeling exhausted.
Lyria finally made her way over to where they had parked. She was still shaking some and keeping her distance as she spoke.
Cop call in two transients dead. Jacob make sure Dr. Travis is the coroner to accept the body. We need to go they will not be active any more tonight and if the rest of them have a brain they will lay low too.
Jacob just nodded and grabbed his phone to make the call.
Dane didn't say anything but wondered were those two really transients but he dialed the office to report the find. "Yes this Detective Dane Carson calling to report two dead transients."
He gave the address and said that he had responded to the location on a tip from a confidential informant. He knew tomorrow would be a day of paperwork but he would allow the crime scene detectives to do their job he didn't need to examine the scene at this point.
He didn't have to wait long and two uniforms arrived to handle scene security. Turning the scene over to them his job was done for now.
Dane walked more like stalked over to Lyria and Jacob," so you guys gonna just keep me in the dark or you gonna tell me what just happened? By the way Lyria I'm glad you are alright you are starting to make me like you."
He wasn't even sure why he said the last part but something about her made him want to know her better.
Lyria raised a brow and looked to Jacob and sighed.
What happened is something that really only the church and their associates would understand and quite frankly I don't have time to go through the headache of you trying to have us committed if we tell you officer.
Jacob watched Dane after that declaration to see if it might be legit or all the excess lust powers flowing through her. He already knew he was going to have to help her burn that off not that he would complain about it but since he was like her she was far more aggressive with him than she would be with a mortal and that was just on a normal power spike night... This he hoped he would survive. Jacob finally added...
Let's just say you got to see another piece of the puzzle and technically... He does not exist.
Dane looked at Lyria for a long second, "Just call me Dane please, officer sounds so well so professional."
Dane leaned his head back against the Jeep looking up at the stars his body was tense and he was still on edge. He took a deep breath before looking back at the pair of them.
"Alright fine no more questions tonight but at some point if what I saw tonight is going to make any sense we have to talk and don't give me no supernatural mumbo jumbo. But for now I'm going to head back home and sit out on the porch and drink a beer. Then tomorrow I'm going to try and make sense of some of this."
He turned to walk to the front of his Jeep, "Lyria is there a way I can reach you or let me guess I'm not a high enough pay grade I get it. Also Jacob who the hell was the woman that was at the bridge saying you could still join them. The one you called a bitch or was it a witch?"
Lyria hissed.
The witch was here too... That's it... They are both dead.
She tossed him a card...
Fine Dane... Be careful what you call mumbo jumbo.
Her eyes fell to Jacob again.
She saw him too didn't she... We will have to stay on guard even more now. I will meet you at the council meeting tomorrow.
With that she hopped on her motorcycle and was gone.
