Someone's been sending me anonymous feedback lately which I've found rather interesting. Since I can't respond privately, I'm doing it this way.
This person first sent me an E-mail saying he/she liked Judo's version of "Inverness" better than mine. Well, that doesn't really bother me. Judo's version is quite good, and I can understand why many people would like it better than mine. She goes for a fanciful, supernatural ending, which leaves the reader with an upbeat feeling (which people like). My ending goes for realism and a twist at the end, revealing the guy is just cynically using the gal for his own pleasure (gee, no guy has ever done that before!), and thus is somewhat of a downbeat ending, especially I imagine for women readers. The feedback I've gotten so far on this poem confirms this.
Next Anonymous wrote to say he/she really liked my poem "Love's Demise." Thanks, Anon. That poem was written about my RL experience. It's not just an abstract exercise. You might be interested to know that my most viewed poem of all, "A Lover's Lament," is written in the style of the "courtly love" poets of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and actually is very atypical for me. I find it highly ironic that it is my most read poem here.
Finally, A. mailed me that he/she loved my stories, but wished I would be nicer on the boards. Well, Anonymous, I'm usually pretty nice on this board. And I've been trying lately to be nicer on the GB, but it's tough when you have a bunch of right-wingers screaming at you hurling insults all the time.
Anyway, A., at least you could let me know if you're a man or a woman. I prefer men, but I'm flexible. Also, someone recently sent me one of those "send a crush" thingies. The problem is, you have to guess the person's E-mail address to find out who it is, and I haven't a clue. Is it you, Anonymous? I don't even know if it is someone in my real life or online, but I figure it's probably someone online. Whoever you are, can you give me a little clue at least?
