Sometimes it is fun to just scroll through the titles and pick out some favorites. Does not always promise an enjoyable read, but at least they pull you in.

What do you look for in a title? How do you pick your titles?
Sure we have talked about this before, but, um. How's the weather?

What are your title tricks?

Okay here are the ten I chose from the past week. Select your favorite 3.

If you have a choice you would like to make that is not on the list, please do a write in as a comment.

  1. Eating a Kiwi
  2. Prime Meridian Renga
  3. Patriotburger, Extra Cheese
  4. Abberation Translation
  5. my two janets
  6. The Swan Song of the Mockingbird
  7. Wedding Vow Toolkit
  8. Can't Stop The D-Beat
  9. Taken By Sunrise
  10. How Things Are Written on the Wall

Note: If you are pissed because your favorites were not on this list, go on and post another thread. Anyone can do it. :)

I've read most of these during the week, I think I hated them all except for Pushkine's. I can't pick the best title because the crappy poems get in the way.

I only picked two, Patriotburger, Extra Cheese and Wedding Vow Toolkit the others don't really grab me and trick me into wanting to read the poems.

They're all better than 98% of the titles I use with my poems. I'll be very interested to hear how people get good ideas for titles. I totally suck at titles and always have. In fact, I am so bad at them that most of the time I would prefer to just use the first line of my poem as the title (hey, it was good enough for ee cummings!).

Uh I have one great title: Coffee Clouds at Dawn. After that it's all downhill. Way downhill.

(Great thread Anna banana!)

For me the first line is 90% of the poem, the title is sort of make or break but usually I just pull it from within the poem like a pop song pulls from the chorus.

I just read a post over on the general board where the poster used the following phrase:

a pony made of ice cream

Wouldn't that make a great poem title? I think so. (He also said "ice cream made of ponies," but that just made me gag.)

Tomorrow I might come up with a different set of three titles - all depends upon my mood.
Most (all ?) of mine aren't very attention-grabbing.

Grrrrrrr my big downfall I can never come up with a catchy title to grab the eye. As it's the first part of the submit form I hurriedly skip over it and hope for inspiration along the line.

Champ, you just posted a pic of my most favorite candy in the world, I wish I could eat the screen! yummy!!

hey gal, are you doing okay?I sent a little prayer out to the universe for you sweety. hugs:heart:
Yes I'm doing ok, apart from some flubs in the lub-dub of my thumper (dig the assonance?). I have my annual echo next week and got to wear an event monitor for five days a couple of weeks ago. I'm allergic to the adhesives and the gels so all that did was open up my skin with hives and blisters to capture 24 hrs worth of events, once my skin broke down, the monitor wouldn't work. The technician said they should have a large enough sample from that though, so I won't have to even try to wear the stickies again.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I can use the positive wishes in so many areas of my lately that even a little lift will make a big improvement. I hope you're healing and doing well. (huggle snugs)
OMG - I'm not saying what I thought those chocolate turtles were at first glance!
I'm so glad you're speechless :p.

My hubby finally went for a check up, his first in 18 years and was told he had an enlarged heart. He is at this moment, undergoing something called a nuclear stress test. I'm scared for him :( He can be an ass, but he's MY ass and I love him.

I just know you'll be okay, you have to be.
