Titillation before relief?

Hello there,

How many of you prefer a long period of titillation in a story before eventual relief? It's what I like but I'm not sure it's everyone's cup of tea, especially when I read many of the stories on the site. What do you think?

I like to be surprised. So, I don't like the story to just follow one "same old" formula of any kind, including where I'll find the sex and how much sex I'll find.

sr makes a good point. Erotic or otherwise, a story should have tension, excitement and a good conclusion.

There is nothing wrong with a well-written stroke story, I often enjoy them, but I think they are very hard to write well. Often they read like a play-by-play of a football game with body parts on defense or attack.

We have to want the protag/antag to get up and personal to get any emotion out of the scene.

I think you ask the wrong question. It's not a question of titillation/ relief, but how much you put us 'there' with all senses fully functional.

Hmm, I don't think I'm asking the wrong question, rather the one relevant to my reading of stories, and the one I wanted to ask! You've partly answered it, however, and "tension, excitement and a good conclusion" is simply a slightly broader and more elegant way of expressing the same idea, in my opinion.

I think you may be confused.

Lit splits roughly between stroke stories and more plotted stories. Both are appreciated. Your question is a bit strange because in both genres there has to be something more than in a video.

People won't enjoy your story unless you get the readers to want your characters to have sex.

Think more about your characters rather than the tab A-slot B issue.

You'd need to specify what sort of pairing would be arousing to you for anyone to know where your right direction was.

another factor is the age of your audience. For people as old as Pilot, viagra is necessary so there needs to be a good 30 minutes worth of reading to get to the sex so by then the drug has got him hard enough to jerk off to..... the picture of himself that he has next to your story.
