Here is a list of some of the commercials I keep seeing lately-

Care Bears
My Little Ponie
Cabage Patch Kids
Gilliagan's Island

and today....

"Webbles wobble but they don't fall down."

I guess you just can't improve on perfection:) Someone please check the year for me again:confused: :p

So what other blasts from the past have you guys been seeing lately?

Jump right in and "let's do the time-warp again!"

I've seen adverts for He-man but the nw cartoon is totally crap -bring back the orange muscle man of my youth with only a loin cloth and a big sword to protect the world with!

I've seen one for a weebles farm...I had a weebles play park when i was little it was so funky.....

Hmmwhat else? Bagpuss has been popular of late, same with the Clangers and Dangermouse....all classics in my mind :)

Clangers......*sigh*........I loved those little critturs. My nickname at one place of work was the 'Soupdragon'. What an honour.

Noddy.
Channel 5 are bringing back Noddy.

Mat...Clangers we're always my favourite..i just loved the way they whistled!

My 15-year-old son was wild about Ninja Turtles - had gobs and gobs of action figures, sets, etc. We even did his bedroom with Ninja Turtles, complete with bedspread and curtains. When he grew out of it, I sighed with relief.

Flash forward: Now Ninja Turtles are back, and I also now have a 4-year-old son, and yep, the dreaded Ninja Turtles have infested the house again.

(Except for the bedroom decor, you could substitute "Power Rangers" for "Ninja Turtles." Yep, they're back too)

*sigh*

There is a current car advertisement running on UK TV that is I think for a Peugeot.

It shows all other vehicles as plastic or tin toys. The implication is that all other cars are playthings and only the 'Peugeot' is a REAL CAR.

It is almost identical to an advert in the 1980s for a Leyland Princess, the wedge shaped car that looked as if it was a hatchback but wasn't.

The Princess was shown as being a different breed of car, distinctive and every other car was an identical toy.

I hope the Peugeot isn't as bad as the Princess was. Stick shifting in that was like stirring lumpy porridge - you might get 1st or 3rd or even reverse when changing from 2nd.

If you wanted to put luggage in the Princess's trunk (boot in UK) the lid would hit you in the face. If you wanted to reverse you couldn't see anything. If the sun was shining you couldn't see the instruments except for the flashing light to tell you your seatbelt wasn't fastened (when it was). Its hydrolastic suspension would sag on one side or the other until pumped up by a garage with the correct pump. Not a pleasant driving experience.

I wince every time I see the Peugeot advert and remember the Princess I owned.

The one that springs to mind for me is THUNDERBIRDS, I used to love that program as a kid. I still haven't seen the film yet, only clips.

The Tootsie roll pop commercials in black and white, with the owl and the little boy asking the wise old owl how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie rool pop, it has been on quite frequently here.
