It was time. That was my arch nemesis. Exspecially now.

You see, several days ago it started. I fell in love with my best friend. He didn't know it, neither did I until a few weeks before I told him.

It was disasterous. I didn't know that I was gay, not at first. Then things just fell into place one day. His eyes made my cock stand at attention as he flashed me his bright smile. I wanted to kiss those large beautiful lips to feel how soft they were.

So, finally after weeks of lusting after him I decided to tell him. Alex came to me, all smiles as usual. I had asked him to meet me at Che Levouse. It was a woman's resteraunt that catered to pricey clientelle.

We ate and had a fairly good meal until he decided to ask me what was so important. So, I told him. "You see Alex, I am gay and I have fallen in love with you."

My heart wanted him to reach out to me and ask me to hold him as he confesses his hidden desires, but that wasnt' the case.

He picked his napkin out of his lap and set it on the table. With that he walked out of my life. I havent' seen him in a few days.

That is why I decided to take this nature tour. I didn't know my life was about to change, as I am sure the others didn't either.

I was walking on a cliff, as we all were when I began falling, sliding more like. I slid, for what seemed like hours, but were mere minutes. Straight into a hole.

Their voices called to me. "Are you ok? Speak to me!" One came. The other's were muffled.

Turning around I saw the most beautiful scenery I had ever scene. Plants as big as I was decked the ground. They stood above my head. Flowers bigger than the sun itself topped those plants.

"I am ok!" I called back. "You guys should see this. It is beautiful."

OOC: At the back of this cavern is a tunnel that leads to a land that none can excape from. Sort of like Dinotopia. Want to come into it and visit the land before time?

The nature excursion and camping trip seemed like an excellent idea, especially so soon after my divorce. I loved Charlie, I really did, but I just couldn't take any more years of living a lie. We hadn't had sex in nearly ten years, since our second anniversary infact, and had never had children. See, I was gay. I'd fought it at first - when you went to Nayspoint College, gay wasn't the thing to be. Charlie and I fell in love, or an extremely close friendship, and with me kidding myself we got married.

I graduated Nayspoint and went on, eventually, to get my MSc in Biology and Evolution, and then into a job working digs for certain museums. I threw in the odd class at a college or two to boost my income, and with Charlie working as a lawyer, we grew rich and apart. I finally had to tell her the truth though. I picked two weeks last Saturday, making sure we were both rested.

"Baby... Charlie... I need to tell you something..."

"Ok, but I... I need to tell you something first..." She looked even more nervous than I did, and so I relented.

"What is it?"

"I-I'm gay. I didn't realise when I was going through college. I'm sorry, Clifton, I didn't mean to trick you but... why are you laughing?"

When I told her she laughed too. We parted as good friends, and have stayed in touch ever since. However, being in touch with her only reminds me that even though we can't be lovers, I have a massive hole of companionship in my life now. And that's why I went on the trip - to take my mind off it. When I saw the hunk with us, I hoped my trip hadn't been wasted. Then he fell down the hole.

"Are you ok? Speak to me!" I called loudly.

"I am ok!" He called back. "You guys should see this. It is beautiful."

I slid down the slope a little more carefully than he had, hoping he was as ok as he said. Thats when I saw the flora of the area.

"How peculiar," I said, looking at the trees, shrubs and flowers in bewilderment. "Some of these look familiar... from my studies on the flora of the cenozoic and earlier periods... but, if I'm right, they lived millions of years apart..."

I looked at the beefcake that slid down to the hole with me. What a man. Seemed to have brains which in this day and age didn't mean football.

"HI." I breathed out to him as he slid down.

"How peculiar,"he said looking bewildered. "Some of these look familiar... from my studies on the flora of the cenozoic and earlier periods... but, if I'm right, they lived millions of years apart..."

So they couldn't coexist now, together in this time frame? "Are you saying I made a discovery of some sort?"

"A discovery?" I laughed as I looked at him. "My friend, if I am right about what this is, when we get back home you will have your name in every newspaper from the locals, to the nationals to the scientific journals!"

He looked dumbfounded, and the truth was, I was more so. I knew how impossible this all was. None of it could be around now, not since numerous climactic changes, meteor strikes, worldwide epidemics and other catastrophes. More to the point, none of it could have existed together at any point in history.

"I wonder..." I said, stepping past him to explore further, "Just how strange this place really is."

OOC: I should give a description I guess. 5'11, in condition but not a jock, blonde, blue eyed, moustache and slight beard.

Trever

OOC: Brunette, green eyes. Tall, but lanky. Not your average pretty boy but almost as dumb. LOL

IC: "Really? That is great. Then Alex will see how famous I am and he will come running into my open arms." So, maybe I was delusional. After all, who wouldn't be.

"Can we take some of this back with us? NO one will believe us if we just say we found this kind of place."

I barely heard Trevor talking. He was cute, if not a stud, but wasn't the brains of the outfit by a long way. I did hear his comment about Alex coming back, however, and bit down a slight annoyance. We'd enjoyed a little light banter in our trip so far, and I had hoped we could look to develop into a bit more than that. But if he already had someone who loved him, that wasn't likely.

"Let's go see what's out there," I said in fascinated foolishness as I began to press through the giant plants at either side of us.

Trevor

Being very forward for a change, "By the way, my name is Trevor, what is yours?" I say, before grabbing his hand and pulling him in the vast evergreens a bit more before anyone else can see.

Letting go of his hand I smile, thinking of the fact that he didn't pull away. "YOu know, this is really beautiful." I say, looking around at the beauty off it all. This was a once in a lifetime adventure. Never before had I seen such plants. "Wait, do you think their might be animals out here?"

He took my hand and, for a second, I felt a thrill of excitement run through me. He wasn't everyone's idea of handsome, but he was cute, and I liked him, particularly the way he hung. I looked into his eyes as he pulled me into the undergrowth, wondering for a minute if his excitement was at this place or the possibility of a romantic encounter, or the wonder of the place around us.

"Wait, do you think their might be animals out here?"

As if in answer, a shriek rang out from a nearby tree. I spun, wondering what I would find, and saw a bird clinging there. I say a bird, the head and body were scaled, more like a reptile. Its jaws were lined with teeth. It wasn't overly large, about the size of a raven, but my mouth dropped at the sight.

"Archaeopterix," I said with a gasp before seeing Trevor's confused expression. "Archaeopterix," I repeated. "They say it was the first bird, though some argue it wasn't. I can't believe that it could still be alive..."

And yet, it was, and if it was...

"Trevor, we should turn back," I said nervously. "If this is alive, who knows what else is..."
