time to put away Soccer's knee high socks & start the college "real" football season

Oklahoma is TSN's preseason No. 1 with Florida State, Texas, Miami (Fla.) and Georgia rounding out the top five.

Georgia in the top 5?

Maybe they need random drug testing at the Sporting News.

Do they play in the Premiership?

Soccer was football before football even existed. Besides the name should be handball since it is played with the hands.

What before Friday ?

Before U.S.A. vs Germany ?

You're joking.

Eh, forget "football"

Its time for the real big boys to play. I'm hoping my team, BC, can crack the top 10 this year. One of my best friends is the starting D tackle for BC, so....

Lets go Ea-gles!

I was oddly curious as to why a team that has won exactly nothing over the last 20 years is now a top five team in the preseason. Great offense but will they be able to stop UT's or South Carolina's power running games?

Big boys? You mean the fairies with the helmets and the padding?

Try rugby, real men, no padding.

Oh, you mean the guys that are too dumb to wear pads and helmets? Or the guys that wear metal cleats and stomp on each others junk? Wait, one in the same.

Not a matter of being dumb, they know better than to tackle a head with a head!

Padding is dangerous. It allows idiots to tackle harder than their bodies can take.

If you are daft enought to get under a ruck then you deserve your tackle stomped on. In all the years I played , I was never stomped on the nuts once (or my head for that matter).

They have beat UT the past 2 years. Carolina has squeaked by twice. A bigger question to me is can they even be competitive against Florida.

This could be the start of the best and most divisive Lit quarrel ever !

Every chance Danny. We just stoke the fire a bit and then sit back and watch while the World Cup of REAL football keeps on running.

I realize they have beaten UT twice, it was very painful for me to watch that last min drive in Knoxville this past season :( , but a blind squirel does occasionally find a nut on the forest floor. Florida, ha, even though they may be down this year (something I am not convinced of personally) there is simply too much team speed for the 'Dawgs to handle. They can hang for a little while but seemingly fade later in the game. Trying to run a track meet with the Gators is deadly, you gotta pound them to death, like UT did last year in Gainsville. Simply not enough proven defense or running game for them to be a top five preseason team.

Actually, I was thinking ....

while watching the Word Cup matches, that soccer is a little sissyish.

Not quite the burly contact sport that we are use to watching in the US ...
where men are MEN, and the rest play something less risky ...
like soccer, or badmitten, or hopscotch.

:D

Yeah, throw a penalty flag. Don't raise a pink card.
