depends how much of an engineer you are, and how much you want to put into it......


I know that some places sell locks that use infrared signal to unlock them (kind of like a garage door opener).

Anyway, if your good at tinkering, you can make a small timer circuit that will have a selenoid to push the button fob-thingy(that will unlock the lock).

just takes some time and some engineering......

Only in banks.....

As far as I know, banks have the only timer locks. I may be wrong, but grandpop was a lock maker and I think he would have had one if there was one. Makes one wonder why this is such an exclusivity......?

There's a "Time release handcuffs" being trotted about in a recent issue of MAXIM, FHM, or some fucked up shit like that which has a cylindrical block of ice that melt to release a key. It'd be easier to rig a timed key dispensor that doesn't involve melting.
I like what bun bon said about using a quick release setup, you don't know when you'll need to get out of it quick. I like locking 'biners, but there's all kinds of cheaper stuff in your local hardwarehouse, boating supply, or pet store. If I'm using cuffs, or other chain restraint, I like to have bolt cutters around too, and a serrated claw knife (Probably a spyderco (c), or knockoff) will handle rope, and leather quickly, and safely. You never know when locks, or knots will seize, especially when you throw body fluids, candle wax, and/or intense pressures into the mix.
