Time It REALLY Takes To Post Story

I've been submitting stories here a long time, and over that period, have noticed that it has taken increasingly longer for my stories to post--far longer than the 3 days they say.

It now takes at least a week for my stories to post. In fact, of the 9 new stories I submitted one week ago today, only two have posted. Is this what everyone else is experiencing?

It doesn't appear that the number of stories I submit, the category, the length of the story, what time of day or night it is, the day of the week, or any other factor affects posting time. It takes at least a week.

While sooner is of course better, I have no major problem with the delay, but would appreciate if Lit would not raise expectations by revising the posting guidleines to reflect the time it actually takes to post a story submission.

Since there is a contest going no now, it could take as long as 10 days to post a story after it is submitted using the submission form.

If a story is submitted by email, the clock doesn't even start for about 2 weeks.

Thanks

Talk about a speedy answer!

Aha, could be the contest causing a swell of story submissions, and therefore, more delay I do submit via the online box versus the pokey E-mail, so that's not the problem.

Woe, Jenny, what a smokin' hot babe you are! Thanks for the reply.

All the contest stries get bumped to the head of the line. Yesterday there were five or six of them posted. Usually on the first few days of a contest there will be 10 or 12 per day. So over a week or so that adds one or two days to the usual 7-10 posting time for the que. Then it takes four or five days to get the que caught up to normal again. With 75 (plus or minus) stories posting every day, feel sorry for the editors. They are badly overworked.

And that's only the stories that get posted. No doubt there's more than a few each day that get rejected.

I saw this thread and pounced, ready to howl at JJ's caustic response, only to be disappointed by her reasoned reply. I was bummed. Jenny, the sarcastic Jenny had lost her teeth. Then I read HornyMan's post. I understood and was so relieved. :)

Me too. :)

There's always a contest going on. Why not change the FAQ to say 7 to 10 days? It's accurate.

Well...back in 2001 and 2002 it was 2 or 3 days even when a contest was going on. But there are so many stories being posted now and the growth in numbers is increasing weekly...
