When do find you are at your most creative? When do you write the most? If married, and your spouse is unaware of your Lit account, how and when do you get time to write?

I can tell you one thing: Writing takes a helluva lot of time. Perfecting what you wrote, devoting attention to little details, and trying to find the exact right words takes five times as much. To be honest with you, we could all use a black hole to write next to, as scientifically inaccurate as that thought is.

At the moment, it seems to be a small window straight after breakfast, for maybe an hour (depending what time my wife gets up), before I have to start work. I work from home four days a week, she goes to work for two of those days, so that's time alone, and maybe on weekends, depending what else I want to do. These days, it's grab time where I can, but slowly stories progress and don't seem too disjointed.

I sometimes envy those folk who get long writing slots in their day, but if I managed to do that, writing would become a chore, and that's the last thing I want it to be. So I write another five hundred words when I can, sitting in the back room, watching the soft rain fall. This is when I write my short contemplative pieces, which happens every year with the change of season.

I agree. I put a lot of work into getting the small details right and once in a blue moon someone notices. Makes my day, too.

I took up writing on Lit after my wife died.

My most productive time has always been first thing in the morning, usually before my SO is up. Some days, I'm up for four hours before they are. My SO is aware of what I write (and is an occasional beta reader for me), so it's not an avoidance strategy. If the writing is going well. I may write ten+ hours a day. I am a semi-retired college prof, with summers off, so I have a lot of flexibility when to write.

I'm a night owl, so my most productive times are either at night when my wife is already asleep, or the middle of the afternoon on my day off when she's taking a nap.

Sometimes I write while we're watching TV together (well, she is watching). The way we're situated she can't see my screen. Oftentimes she falls asleep anyway.

My ex-wife lives seventy miles away, so that is not an issue. The few remaining members of my family know I write something, but they have been quite indifferent to whatever I've been doing.

I'm not dating, and I don't have much of a social life, so I just write whenever I'm inspired. It's usually when I first way up, whether that be in the morning, the middle of the day, or late in the evening.

I'm a really loud typist - it's bad, honestly. So I can't work while others are sleeping. I used to get maybe 45mins in the morning before the school run, but my wife has been nagging me (correctly) about my fitness, so I've been losing much of that time to a work out. Partly why I haven't published anything since July.

I used to mostly write at work, but lately I've been having to work at work, the nerve of my boss!

Now it's mostly in the early morning and I find it harder to concentrate than I do in the middle of the night at work, so that's a bummer.

My husband knows about my writing. He's read most of it.

I write mostly in the evenings. My husband knows I "dabble in a bit of naughty writing" but doesn't know the actual extent of it or about my lit account. I tend to do my mainstream writing when he's around and my erotic writing if he's asleep or absorbed in what's on TV. He never asks too many questions about what I'm writing at any time, and I'm vague about it when he does.

Sometimes I fantasize that he secretly reads literotica and is unknowingly one of my biggest fans.

Proper writing can only be done when away from home, is some boring hotel room. Although I have also used long train journeys.

I suppose if i were a wealthy man not much...but I'm old and my house is somewhat falling down around me in need of attention, and costly to hire work done...
Work in the yard, read a good book, wash the car, on and on and on

I need to have an idea. That's no problem, I have plenty.
Then I need to be bored. That's a problem. So many things to do.
Then I need to have time alone. No one knows that their favourite fellow family member had very dirty fantasies.

I write on business trips or when I'm alone at home which is rare.

Ideal is that sweet spot that starts about midway through my second cup of coffee in the morning.

Unfortunately I work full time, and am not disciplined enough to get up with any buffer time before work, so I'm only able to avail myself of that sweet spot on free weekends and random days off. Most days I try to squeeze some time in after work -- after a walk or some kind of decompression to chase the work from my mind -- and occasionally I'm feeling ambitious later in the evening.

I try to get up around 6:30 and have my wife sleep until 8 or 9 but too often she wakes early and I have little time to write...an hour or two goes fast when writing.
