I wouldn't be opposed to dropping the US $50 either.

I'd love to see the link. I'd drop pennies first and round everything to the nearest nickel. But I can kinda see how this would work. I mean as much as we hear about ID theft that's still a sophisticated crime. No punk kid ever just upped and yoinked your wallet and then ran up all your cards. Maybe your credit if he's quick/smart and a bit lucky. (I assume if I snatch enough wallets near my local gas station many will be in the proper zip code.

So basically I see you with a wad of cash and if I'm gonna yoink money you just becamse target prime.

Only crime they are trying to prevent with this move is tax evasion/mondey laundering....lol

Most of it is already all done in 20's...not 100's. LOL

Killing the $100 bill while keeping the penny. Yyyyep.

We killed the penny in Canada a couple years ago.

It saves the Mint a mint.

Australia got rid of 1 and 2 cent pieces a while ago, and now is looking at dumping 5 cent pieces as well.
But prices stayed the same with items still being stated at $2-99 etc, necessitating rounding up or down ($2-02 gets rounded down, $2-03 gets rounded up).
Not sure what they're going to do about rounding when the 5c piece goes.
And really not sure why they didn't just insist that everything was priced in multiples of 5 back then, or why it can't be in multiples of 10 in the future.

What the real goal is, for central government, is to eliminate all paper money period. (For this comment, we do not need to talk about coin, since, most of it has been debased to the point that it is paper.)

The first step is to deny the citizen the opportunity to save by the use of negative interest rates. The penalizes you for saving, you have to pay to save. The next step is to use inflation (centralized by institutions such as the Fed) to make sure that you do not hold on to any paper money and instead use electronic credit, which can then be fully monitored for the purpose of taxation. In order to prohibit an underground economy, another old-time remedy will be employed, the prohibition on owning precious metals. This is why our gold and silver is in jewelry and collector's coins.

Instead of the Bitcoin, which the government hates with a passion, we will have Fedcoin.

Canada just got rid of the penny last year. Hardly anyone accepts 100$ bills. Some places won't take US money (gas stations). Too far behind in anti-counterfeit technology.

Plus they are all that ugly green colour...and dollar bills...who wants dollar bills...ffs

I am pretty sure there we [sic] no $100 dollar bills needed in the deravitaves scam. You are a vitctim of propaganda.

What is the percentage of $100 bills with cocaine residue on them?

;) ;)

What if the most counterfeited bill? The dollar bill?

And just what the fuck does any denomination of bill have to do with Mark Zandi's failed Derivative Model?

Crime is the linkage. More crime is committed without paper money.

I like punching the bimetal piece out. Looks cool. Easy to put back in reversed too.

It's all coming from Larry Summers

I have a small rare earth magnet in my pocket to keep change together. Real easy to have 20$ worth of change in pocket from loonies and toonies.

I still think we should have called them loons and doubloons.
