what's couture? *blush*

there's a lovely invention called the dictionary....use it :D

Couture......as in "haute couture".......is a widely used
term in the fashion world.

I went shopping today

and I felt like I walked into the 70s...........

got a red corduroy miniskirt, flare jeans (big bells!!),
black peasant blouse, black pantsuit for starters......

Where I usually go shopping......for the past 4-5 years
they have improved greatly on their selection and styles
of clothes.......I love it!!!

70's Clothes

I love the clothes that are currently in the shops. Not being able to afford designer labels I think that the high street stores have done a great job for the summer season.

A few weeks ago I was visiting my Aunt and was wearing a pair of flared jeans, when she saw them she showed me some pics of her and my mum wearing some in the 70's. A few days later she came over with a couple of suitcases full of original 70's jeans, tops. skirts and shorts and shoes that she had been hoarding in her loft. I am not to keen on some of the materials used but most of the stuff is so cool.

Now all I need is an invite to a 70's party!!!

Well its a mix of late 60s thru the 70s.......the leisure
suit thingy happened in the 70s, so hence, the pantsuit :)

the peasant look also went thru the 70s too....I remember
it barely from when I was a little tot.........

but most definitely, lots of jeans for sure........

also corduroy....and cuffed pants..........

I hear you about the fabrics used actually in the 70s...lots
of polyester........today those fashions are recreated with
some fabrics similar but that are much more comfy! :)

Funny.......my younger sister has always been into the
60s/70s deal.......she even got some old corduroy bellbottoms
that belonged to my uncle!! She fit into them perfectly!
"Everything old is new again" as the saying goes.......

I even remember in high school, the senior class had "70s
day" where we all dressed up in 70s era clothes.....it was
so funny! Actually we were the first class to do that .......but
that's another bunch of grapes.....

A fashion story....well maybe a couple....

There was this miniskirt I had by ESPRIT back in 6th
grade.......red w/ black "splatter paint like" design on it.....
more it w/ a black tshirt.......loved that outfit, until one
day I got whistled at by a couple of boys in the hallway
on the way to class (I knew them).......for some odd
reason I felt embarassed and refused to wear it to
school again :(

Then there was the BENETTON craze.......middle/jr high
school & early part of high school........one of the "in"
items to have from that store was one of their rugby
shirts w/ their logo emblazoned on them........a lot of
the girls wore 'em (mind you, this is the very late 80s
at that time)........I also had a sweatshirt from there.....
also a beach bag (which I still have!).....my mom didn't
believe in spending a lot of money for clothes but I did
have the rugby shirt though :)

Back in 7th grade (damn what memories!).......had this
miniskirt/shirt outfit from a store called Rave......it was
charcoal grey......loved it.......wore it to some of the
dances we had at school........my boyfriend (yes I had
a boyfriend.....he was 8th grade...awwwww!) just
loved that outfit on me....... ;)

gosh, jen, I'd love to troll through your photo album. Lit bans underage discussions, so I'll hafta pretend you musta been 18 in gr 7, but I bet you looked real cute. Guys had nothing to compare- mind you, by the 80's I was working in a suit and tie job. In the mid 80's, I got into Armani , and had a real nice pair of white linen pants that tied at the waist, that I wore with a madras shirt- the pants curled around my ass just right,. but if I got stiff, my package was plain to see( goodness me!). that's what I was wearing the night I met my wife, so I guess it worked...

well the 1980s was the era of the suits..........Armani is
a wonderful one......pricey I might add!

Underage? The underage thing is in regards to sexual
matters, which I am NOT talking about here. I was only
recalling memories in regards to fashion......no sexual
discussion here in regards to when I was younger.......

I bet you looked yummy in those white pants ;)
