Republicans are cutting the throats of their own supporters.

MARCH 9, 2017

Vice President Mike Pence has been pushing for Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback to land a job in President Donald Trump’s administration, according to sources.

The speculation about Brownback’s future comes at a time when the state is facing major questions about its finances. Kansas faces a budget gap of roughly $1 billion through June of 2019 and must enact a new school finance formula before June 30 this year under an order by the Kansas Supreme Court.

Brownback would not confirm that he plans to remain in Kansas through the end of the legislative session.

Kansas GOP Revolts, Nearly Overturns Gov. Sam Brownback's Billion-Dollar Failed Experiment

State house votes overwhelmingly to roll back 2012 tax cuts, but override comes up short.

"... it wasn’t exactly the same set of Republicans who initially allowed Brownback near-complete freedom to create a low-tax conservative utopia."

Brownback has remained steadfast in his support for the tax cuts — supported by the anti-government radicals Charles and David Koch and their Wichita-based Koch Industries, the single largest contributors to Brownback’s campaigns. In a December interview with the Wall Street Journal, Brownback urged President Donald Trump to mimic the massive spending and tax cuts he implemented in Kansas — which have led to growing budget gaps, missed growth projections and two credit downgrades for the state.

Ayn Rand Disease

Cutting Medicaid by $880 billion over 10 years to fund a tax cut for the rich.

$600 billion in tax cuts — tax cuts that would save the wealthiest 0.1 percent of Americans nearly $200,000 each in a single year

Members of the top 0.1 percent, who each on average make more than $3.75 million annually, would get an average tax cut of $165,090.

Oh, come on, Jesus," Pious Paul Ryan protested. "Don't go socialist on me again. Please don't encourage class warfare."

This Samaritan also seems to think it right to redistribute money from those who are successful and give it to losers. That's socialism!

Jesus turned to Pious Paul on his left and said: "Be gone! For I was hungry and you gave me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; and I was sick, and you did not help me."

But, Lord," protested Pious Paul of Ryan, "when did I see you hungry or thirsty or sick and refuse to help you? I drop your name everywhere. And I'm pro-life!"

"Truly, I say to you," Jesus responded, "as you did not help the homeless, the sick — as you did not help the least of these, you did not help me."

6 Reasons There's No Such Thing As Compassionate Conservatism

Conservatives worship Ayn Rand, who said it was morally wrong to help people. How's that for compassionate?

(I had guessed that "trickle down" theories had been thoroughly disproved...:)

"...the way these conservatives apply their compassion is to work to cut the poor, hungry, elderly, disabled, ill and others off from any means of assistance."

"Compassionate conservatives are fighting tooth and nail to stop efforts to bring the minimum wage up. In fact, many of them believe there shouldn’t be a minimum wage at all."

"Apparently “compassion” means to conservatives that the country should make people so poor and desperate they have to take any nasty-ass, low-paying, humiliating and even dangerous job that comes along at any pay rate."

"Banker bonuses are good for the country, especially if they are given with money from the government for bailing out banks."

Paul Ryan has called our government safety-net programs “a hammock that lulls able-bodied people to lives of dependency and complacency, that drains them of their will.”

"Displays of compassion are not welcome in the Republican Tea Party base."
(In matters of immigration, it seems that major international corporate conglomerations have bought Conservative tongues.)

While demanding cuts in food stamps, healthcare, unemployment benefits, etc., they are always, always insistent on cutting taxes for the fortunate few.

gsgs comment- Nothing much has changed. :(
