Couple of hours, 3300 words. Had a few bits of it rolling around in my head for a while and for some reason it started rolling out to the fingertips.

No character development. Not even any names. Just spank bank stuff. Maybe I don't expect much in the way of ratings or 'good' comments. But I don't do any of them for that. I just spew words. Just for the helluvit.

Went into EC, but could have gone into EV.

Probably be a couple of days for approval or not.

Working on my Valentine’s Day story, a scene popped into my head that no amount of panel-beating or KY could force it to fit. So I took a couple of days thinking it’d not even hit 10K words. Ended up just under 16,000.

But in common with the above at no time does the story use any names. None. Not for any character. When the scene first hit me I just had “he” and “she.” As it expanded I decided to see if I could stick to that, even when “her neighbor” got a key role.

Through the Woods.

Dammit. I was on a roll too. Something I've never seen before. Story went up this morning and by about noon it was at 754 reads and this mess was rated at 5/5. I've never had a story do that, perfect score, even though with so few reads. This is a nothing bunch of words. No 'literary' qualities at all.

Now just a few minutes ago, I look and at just under 900 reads, it's showing 4.56/9. I'm guessing another couple of 5s and a 4 maybe? Or a 3?

No, this isn't an invitation to go 1 bomb it either.

This is an argument for not massaging a story too much, especially one that was delivered in a fevered flow to begin with. Sometimes working a story over a lot is just beating all of the life out of it when it was just fine as originally delivered.

It feels good to do this, doesn't it? The spark comes and the words flow and you don't fret over it too much and just get it out there. Most of my stories roll out as the product of months of stop-and-start writing, with lots of fretting and over-thinking between the writing sessions. But a few I've churned out in just a few days, and it feels great to do that. I wrote my most popular story that way. I wrote my most recent story that way. I got on roll with a story this morning and churned out 6000 words in a couple of hours. That felt good.

^^ I probably could have added a couple of thousand words, but I'm not sure they would have added much to the story. They may have gotten into more description of the backstory, the setting or the other people involved or I could have stretched out the naughty bits, but any of that may have just slowed down the pace.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Down to 4.08

C'est Le Vie.

Or as Thurston Howell III would say .... 'Say, Lovey ...'

Down to 4.0 at 1400 reads and 14 votes.

I knew the perfect 5 wouldn't last.

Let's see what the new one in I/T will do.

On most of these threads where ratings are discussed, I often say that I don't bother watching them. And that's wholly true after the first couple of days. When a new entry goes up, I watch it for a bit just out of morbid curiosity to get an indication of what kind of assholes are out there.

This one was at 4.07 yesterday with 15 votes. It's now at 3.88 with 16 votes. Can anybody hazard a guess what that 16th vote was?
