My theory is that

1. All lesbians are really bisexual and the guys have a shot at them, and

2. There are no guys in the picture to give them competition or to expect them to be bisexual, too.

I can think of a lot of lasses who would be very happy to lynch you far that statement. Sexual preference is very complex and in many cases, male and female, it can be linked to early abuse. There is evidence of an enlarged hippocampus in guys linked to high levels of stress in the first trimester of pregnancy: it is documented in other mammals too. The acceptance of intra female relationships may be innate linked to our history as hunter gatherers: the guys were out hunting (good hunting requires communication by gesture and talking just scares the prey away) while the women were stuck in camp, often for days, so developed a higher lever of interpersonal skills.
And your analysis fails to account for folk who are asexual: essentially, the whole idea of interacting with a <boy/girl> is so scary that they don't do it. Some may grudgingly accept sexual contact just to have a friend but really, sex is icky and best avoided. Many of those will identify as gay but only because a gay bar is safer than the disco moshpit. And they mostly never actually have sex.

My comment was not to put down girls who like making love to other girls, no matter what the reason. I was addressing what I thought was in the minds of many men who like lesbian porn. It's a common, if almost always inaccurate, trope that men think that the hot lesbians they're aroused by are really bisexual and ready to enjoy hetero sex if "the right man came along" or if the guy is a manly man who is "irresistible to women." That's why James Bond was able to seduce Pussy Galore in "Goldfinger" (the book, not the movie where Pussy's lesbianism was only implied).

Does it ever really happen? Well, there have been some self-proclaimed lesbians who found themselves attracted to men (Holly Near, for example). And I've known gay men who have explored a sexual relationship with women, if only to satisfy their curiosity and confirm their own self-identity as gay.

And there are plenty of straight people who have had a fling with members of the same sex once in their lives, to "walk on the wild side" before going back to heterosex. Sex is a spectrum, and while people are usually at one end of it or the other, there's a ton of folks somewhere in the middle.

As for asexual people, do they watch porn? Does it do anything for them?
