After my brain melts taking the bar, I want to take a three week vacation. Time frame: August - September. I have had my heart set on Greece, but I'm afraid with the impending war and Turkey as a potential military launching ground, it may not be the best choice. I dunno. Anyone have any suggestions?

Barcelona, baby, Barcelona. You can also go up through the French Riviera and to Monaco, it's all very close.

The caribbean. Why? I have always wanted to go. It's warm, has beaches and crystal clear water.

I think for your vacation you should come and expedite for me so that I can go somewhere.

:D

Just a thought.

Frankly, I'm nervous about buying plane tickets without knowing how events in the world might turn. I'm supposed to go see my dad in May and I haven't bought the tickets yet.

What kind of vacation do you have in mind? It you want warm temps and beaches like the ones in Greece, you can try the Caribbean or Mexico and still be close to home thus avoiding the proximity to war zones. Just don't drink the water.

If you prefer something that provides more entertainment than just lolling around on a beach, how about a photo safari in Kenya? Guaranteed to be unforgettable. Political tensions are slightly elevated on the entire continent, but tourism is their biggest industry and they are making strides in higher security.

Maybe a sweep of South America? With their rotten economies, Argentina, Chile and Brazil should provide some nice exchange rates. Just stay out of Colombia and Peru at the moment.

If you travel to the other side of the world, you have the lush tropical beauty of the South Pacific. I think you are safely far enough away from Korea's launch capabilities.

Of course a cruise to Alaska is beautiful. And you don't even need any shots or immunizations. Just don't have any food on you when you are sight-seeing on dry land that could entice the polar bears.

:)

And it was announced today that US Air will waive the $100 penalty for changing flights/dates if/when we go to war. This applies to both domestic and foreign air travel. Delta agreed to waive the fee for international flights only, but if other airlines come out tomorrow, they may adjust accordingly.

Paradise Island in the Bahamas, but make sure you stay on the Ocean side.

and my other favorite response:

Have you ever been to Uranus?

That oughta get me ignored I'm sure.

Cambodia. That's where I'd go. All of those incredible monuments have been calling me since I studied them last year...

If you want much of what is alluring about Greece, then go to Italy. Spend about a week in Rome, maybe visit some of the southern towns, peruse up to Florence, Venice, Milan. From Milan you are amazingly close to Austria and Switzerland, which are both absolutely gorgeous. To add to this, I can be an amazing pre-vacation travel agent/tour guide. ;)

This was what I was going to suggest. A cruise/land combination to Alaska. I've seen so many beautiful pictures from friends and family that this trip is high on my list of future trips to take. Close to home (relatively) and safer at the moment than foreign locations would be for Americans, too.

Yes! Do that! I've done it, and it was amazing! But.. Venice during the spring months.. it's stinky. Kelp blooms and such. Venice is best in August.

And I wouldn't spend a week in Rome.. go for 4 days, see what you want to see, and then go to better places.. like Padua... *sigh*

That was heaven.

All those places suck. The way I see it, you should hit the biggest party cities on the plant... Lubbock and Beaumont.

There is only one thing to do in both towns and that's to

The skull totem polls?

Greece *was* amazing. But I'd consider what you want out of your vacation, and tailor it accordingly, like Agent99 said.

Once you start practising, things will get relaively structured and serious for 5 years or more.

Badass is right; St Croix is gorjuice...but you'll go there anyway.

I'd be inclined to bridge your youthful wanderlust with reward.

Costa Rica, one week. Sleep on the beach in hammocks, they're everywhere.

Then hop back to Miami and hit Portugal or Spain for a few days.

Then pop up to Brussels and Amsterdam for a week to ten days.

With 3 weeks in that time frame, I think southern Europe. Three weeks IS a long time in any one place, no matter how beautiful, ie, the Carribean, Australia, South Pacific et al. Europe would give you the chance to see many beautiful places, different cultures ect. 1 week or so, yeah, a cruise to Alaska or the Carib. would be a great choice. Even paradise can get boring after awhile 'tho. 'Course you could just jump in the car and see the rest of this beautiful country. JMHO :rose:

I think three weeks at a petting zoo would be fabulous.

Note* bring extra shoe laces.

Goats get hungry.
