As there is a vote ging on here for whatever reason and at risk of sounding like a wet blanket, I do object to the thread being shifted to BDSM Cafe, firstly as the bumper said it was bumped to add a bit of needed humour around 'here', not BDSM Cafe..(how quick we forget), and secondly as we are posting in both areas, I still fail to see the relevance of why threads have to be hijacked and moved....seems we still don't get Word Assoc., back either despite SV leaving in protest over it's removal and repeated assurances if a thread starter objects to their thread being moved it will immediately be returned to it's former place in BDSM Talk. Her objection was made clear I would have thought.

Hi Catalina!

With regard to the "Things you should never say..." thread, personally, I don't care where it remains.

I have been accused of showing favoritism in terms of the half dozen threads I moved on the first night of the new forum. As such, leaving one of my own prolific and fluffy threads up when it got bumped to the top would seem only to reenforce the issue of "favoritism." Although, each poster was pmed and most were on line at the time...none responded, except for Silken Velvet who was not on line. Others responded to my pm's favorably, others didn't respond to my pm's but continued to flame me on the forums.

This forum, the Cafe, doesn't need to be defined as "fluff" and I hope that no one feels that by posting here they are "fluffy" posters. While I also, haven't been posting as much lately, some threads I have thought about posting may include current events, politics, social issues, personal stuff (like my relocation thread) or whatever comes to mind that is not related to BDSM. Jokes, rants and flirting are great too. We have many intelligent and well read posters here and could use this forum as a melting pot of everything that defines who we are, not just BDSM.

As for humor on the Discussion forum, feel free to post humor. I have moved nothing else from there and wont' move a thread strictly because it is humorous. Contrary to what others have suggested, it is not my intention to portray the Discussion forum in a totally serious light.

As for the "vote," as I have posted, I would not whimisically move any thread. Posting to the thread, seemed to be the best way to handle this one, even though it is a thread I started.

Thirdly, as for the Silken Velvet. She has left and when she returns, should she wish to discuss moving the thread back, I am happy to do so. The thread remains active and is posted to by many of the same and many new posters as frequented it before the shift.

She did not leave because her thread was moved. Her concerns in my pm box were primarily due to the the second forum as is true with her departure post. I have copied her first post to her thread below.

Have PMd Miss Taken and told her how I feel about the Free for All and also posted my views on relevant threads.

Lit has always been a special place to me, my cyber home form home, but as I informed Miss T, I just quit. Not sour grapes because my thread was moved, but because I have a life and don't want to get involved in all the bickering that is going to result and the divisive them and us serious and fluff posters stuff that will result because of this latest move. I just don't need it .

So thank you all fro the great advice and the humour and the intellectual debate, I enjoyed it all :)

Wishing you all the best for the future

Velvet

So, in conclusion, again, I don't really care where the "What you Should Never say..." thread is and I doubt any of those posting on it really are concerned. The threads will be posted to no matter where they sit.

I just wanted to take a moment to clarify the concerns in your post and am not targetting you with what may seem to be a bit of a rant. Really :)

Thanks, once again for voicing your opinion in such a responsible and adult fashion. :)

*hugs*

MissT, I just have to say that when you were moderating Story Ideas, you were doing an EXCELLENT job. I don't hang out around the BDSM forums as much as I did around Story Ideas, but I think that you are very good at being impartial and not choosing favorites. Whatever anyone else thinks, I *know* you're doing what is best, and I would like to say thank you.

Yeah.

OK.

Whatever.

Denial is a powerful thing isn't it? Me? I'll stay firmly based in reality, myself. If I'm posting up here, I know I'm fluffing.

Ya'll believe whatever Ya'll want to believe, if it makes it more palatable to you.

funny....I don't remember anybody worrying about this when the Board was integrated but hell...maybe I just missed that thread....

I am beginning to think I have missed the whole point. I will not go into SV again as I know her feelings and we havwe spoken of them, but I would think posting current affairs, social issues etc., threads with no relation to BDSM would be GB. But obviously I have missed the whole point and maybe all boards should just be joined into one (scratching my head!!).

Thanks, Chicklet!

I may not always do what is best, but I always try :)

Ahh I am an eterneal optimist! The board will be whatever anyone wants to make of it.

Some seem to be enjoying religion and spirituality. Others seem to be enjoying fluff. Whatever floats your boat.

And as for your "whispered" remark. You are right, the change was not democratic by any means. However, the follow through can be. I am learning as I go as well as anyone else.

Many posters don't and wont' visit the GB.

As for challenges there, the last few weeks here have been mild compared to what happens on the GB as well as the chaotic nature of the GB. Threads move quickly and the topics are very diverse.

So, yes, this can be like a kinky GB for those who want to use it as such.

Well that is certainly a new take on things, and contrary to initial explanations for the need to have a separate board in BDSM. I guess if people don't visit the GB for the reasons you have stated, and I have heard elsewhere, I fail to see why we need to provide another environment for the unpleasantness to flourish unattended. Wouldn't it be better to moderate the site as other similar sites do, allowing freedom of speech, encouraging exchange and tolerance of views, but not tolerating excessive disruption from those who think these methods are cool.

If it has become a need to spread the epidemic instead of containing it, why do those of us in BDSM have to provide the means and be tainted with the same disease. I still fail to see why we would have a BDSM board which would provide a forum for current afairs, social issues, etc., which bear no relation to BDSM whatsoever. Would we think it just as acceptable to provide a second GLBT board and say it is open to anyone gay, or hetero, or whatever to discuss how to change your brake pads in 6 steps, or perhaps how to ease third world debt owed to the western world? Where is the connection to GLBT or BDSM except a poster may have once shaken hands with one of us if they were lucky? Wow, that is meaningful and certainly could not be risked posting on the GB missing the important connection all together. I am sorry, but as I said, I fail to see where the connection is.

~~waving hand~~~ Hellloooo.... I've posted a little on the GB, but don't really care for the environment there. Its a far too aggressive for my laid back personality.
Here at the Cafe, I can post fluff that may or may not have anything to do with BDSM, but I know that those who reply will most likely be others who enjoy the lifestyle. Like Writer Dom's thread on being from the South. Great fun! If that thread had been over on the GB, someone would have most likely posted some inflamatory remark and ruined the fun.
Sure, from time to time you'll have the odd "nilla" poster who wanders over from the GB or perhaps even the Playground. But you have that already on the BDSM board. So what? In MHO, this is a great idea, I applaud Laural, Manu, and of coarse MissT. I'm enjoying posting here, and look forward to more great threads that help me get thru the real life crap I have to deal with.
