Thread Hijackings: Read this please

Watch out.

There's a problem on Lit.

Someone new here is (not deliberately, she claims) hijacking the threads of other people.

It appears that Pinklady (maybe one or two others) is doing this hijacking but actually, as i understand it, her nick is being used by this other person (again - not deliberately, it is claimed) to do the hijacking. That may or may not be true: we don't know yet.

Either we've got someone playing big tricks or someone has some nasty bug.


What's real and known is this:
1. Two people have reported to me that their posts on two different boards have been hijacked by Pinklady.

2. Pinklady expresses astonishment at having any part of this.

3. I just got email from another nick who claims to be the one controlling Pinklady's nick, who is then taking over other people's posts, but this third person claims that she "did not intentionally hack the system".


In any case, i've alerted Laurel and Manu to the problem.

IF this hijacking thing happens to one of your posts, please tell someone so we can continue to try to figure out what to do about it.

Just happened to me too Cym. And I am no jacker. Too PC illiterate for that kind of thing.

Although it's occurred to me that her sig. line and profile should not be taken that seriously, since almost anyone that happens upon it can change it.

This is what happened to me..

I went to the GB board, and logged in through a post, not on the main page. I don't save my cookies, so I that could be part of the problem.

I noticed immediately that my back ground was different, then went down to double check my post. It says pink lady??

So, I went to edit post, and said that indeed, I am Wiggles!

Then I went ahead and logged off on the maid BB page, and logged back in (successfully) under my own nick.

Should I send a PM to Laurel??

I've been pm'ing and emailing both her and Manu on this for a half hour, at least, but they must still be sleeping or something.

Put your nick in the body of your posts, too, at least until this is all sorted out.

Heh. Well, that's just idiotically funny. One more person to put on ignore.

I wouldn't put that nick on ignore, folks... It sounds like either a glitch in the system, or an intentional hack... either way, there are quite a few posts that have 'accidently' been showing up as coming from PinkLady instead of the actual person posting. It happened to geri today, and another in one of our threads. It is entirely possible that, if you were to put PL on ignore, you would miss posts from someone you actually did want to see.

Hopefully Laurel and Manu can shed some light on the subject asap. Until then, we just get to be patient...

just a thought if this is related to your use of cookies then why not log off, virus sweep your PC; wipe all temporary internet files (usually a seperate folder on your Hard drive) and then disable the cookies option in your internet explorer tools menu. Log back on manually and do not click on 'remember password' that should disable the cookies

I went to post a reply from my E-Mail and sighned in from there and ended up as pinklady.
I can't sign in using the link's from my E-Mail notification that i've had a reply to a thread i'm subscribed to or i end up as pinklady.
I have a hotmail account if that helps you guys to find the problem.
I've used a firewall and run a virus scan AND a virus cleaner.
It can't be anything to do with my computer.
But i will say that my hotmail database was shutdown a couple of days ago.SweetBrat73 could get into her account at hotmail though.
