mmm not sure if this is the place to open it or not hope it wont be slashed. Sooooo how many in here play mmo's??? and for those who dont know the term it massive multi-player online role playing games :nana: . Wide range really like world of warcraft ( too kiddish for my taste), anarchy online ( his enforcer grunts as he tanks the AI admiral) and for those who dwel in too much sex and want them in the game too there is one well prolly there are a lot out there but the only one I know is second life :D :D :nana: . And coming to PC games AoE and Civ series are my favourite :p . and last but never the least GO JORDAN GO. I swear if he dies before he finished the wheel of time series am gonna dig up his grave and hack at his body  :nana: . So who else is in :D

I play Lineage. I would do Warcraft, but my inner ear can't handle 3D graphics. Probably the only dyke on there, but since I look elsewhere for non-platonic company, it doesn't make a huge difference to me. ^^

I love role playing games but haven't tried the MMORPGs. I don't really know what you do in them? I'm sad though, that they're the wave of the future and classic RPGs are dying out. I've got Oblivion and Gothic 3 to look forward to though.

classics rpgs *droooools* Dungeon Seige was my fav and its expansions wasnt big into diablo didnt like it that much *searches his brain for the other one he played* oh yeah Fallout both parts :D . And thanx for the posts guys thought would be a dead thread with just my posts lol.

Can you play on your own? Are there quests like in a single player game? If so how do they work, do they keep resetting so different people can play them?

I was dreadfully addicted to NWN (neverwinter nights) for the better part of two years. On the server I played on the majority of the time there were OCCASIONAL quests, but the ones that were available constantly were like, dragon or boss raids, with awsome prizes at the end. You'd get a group of players and go in and you know, try to survive. The server reset every six hours to keep everything clean and the raids reset every hour after completion.

Another server I played on, the resets only happened when the Admin manually reset the server, so it could be twelve hours to forty-eight. It really depended on which server you were on.

I'm sure everything varies from game to game, and server to server. The MMORPG's are EXTREMELY fun, and very, very addictive. I really suggest finding a free one (like neverwinternights) and trying it out.

So it's all about interacting with other players, rather than a single player game which is more about story and quests?

I loved NWN. I'm voracious with a game when I get something I like, and I played it constantly for a whole month, only stopping to eat, sleep or go to work. Man was that month ever sweet, no boredom or loneliness for a whole four weeks. Then I was let down by the Hoards of Underdark. I got half way through then couldn't get past this one battle and quit in disgust.

I love RPG/mmorpg etc

mmo can be played alone. The quests do reset although some content will not be able to be accessed unless you get help. It's the social interaction that sets these games apart from the norm. You get the same diversity of personalities here as in real life.

I love RPGs. I read Narnia and Tolkien as a kid, along with Ivanhoe and other pertaining classics. When I discovered D&D in the local bookshop I was hooked. I took it home and read it so many times and drew up my own world that by the time I finally found a group of guys willing to take a female player, (bunch a sexist pigs!,) the thing was falling apart.

My first character was an elf psionicist back in 2nd. I did my share of DMing after that campaign and ran a few solo adventures when I wanted to introduce friends to the game.

Eventually I discovered other systems and even helped build one. :D

I had a really great gaming group for a really long time. Unfortunately, I didn't know better and got involved with a guy who joined the group months afterwards. When we split up it also cost me my group.

I tried online gaming but it was terrible ... I had my ninja commit sepiku (sp?) 3 sessions in. I haven't had a game since.

But I think this thread belongs on the GB.

I would have thought a bunch of RPG geeks would have jumped at having a girl join them. Do you wanna join my group? Initially it'll only be the two of us though. Waddaya say?

I played the pen and paper too when I was younger. When we moved to the states when I was at sixth grade age I met a guy who introduced me to it. In later years I played Traveller and Judge Dredd but it's PC RPGs that I really have a love for. The Fallout games and the Gothic games, and Morrowind, damn I played a lot of Morrowind. Also NWN and I'm looking forward to NWN 2. All the games I'm hanging out for are all so far away. Why is that?

When i can afford it - I play Gemstone4 religiously and have for almost 10 years now. Its a text based multi-player online RPG, very cool. Nice interface, but not all graphical. I am prolly gonna get smacked for saying this - but i HATE graphics. ick ick ick ickick. My imagination is so much better then any crappy ass graphics that any game thus far has come up with so i have a tendancy not to play games with graphics. Everyonce in a while there will be an acception to that rule, like i'd like trying World of Warcraft, but i cant afford it right now soo se la vie.

As for free online RPG's, i currently play Windy City alot, which is based off of Laurel K Hamilton's world - Vampires and what not, very fun game, nice people, smaller world and player base but its intimate and lotsa fun. Also, it's rather adult themed, the point is not sex, though alot of sex takes place in that one.

I also like BDSM themed games, one of which i enjoy a helluva lot is "Passion and Pain" and that's a very fun game, nice player base, enjoying people for the most part Its a good game. These are text based, don't forget, so you'd have to use a telnet like application to get to these last too liek zMud or MushClient or SimpleMU. I'll leave the addies here at the bottom of my post.

Also, Shangrila, another sex/bdsm themed game, lotsa fun, enjoyable people, large player base you can find some one for just about any kink which is nice. But personally its less RP based then Passion and Pain and i like RP with my online sex. heh.

Passion and Pain: TCP/IP addy: passion.mushpark.com Port number: 1313
Shangrila: TCP/IP addy: shangrilamush.com Port Number: 9999
Windy City: TCP/IP addy: windycity.mushpark.com Port Number: 1138

Anyhoot, all these games are totally accepting of gblt type characters, which makes it that much more fun. Oh yea, and if yer interested in gemstone that you can find at www.play.net - while they're okay with gblt (and you can even get married in that game which was somewhat controversial at the time. They felt it was important ALL folks could get married in their game, something i was stoked about) Its less sex based and more RP/level based. Its NOT like the other three games. The top three games have no levels, its STRICTLY RP, GS has levels, AND RP, a very good blend of both (hard to find if you ask me)

Anyhoot, my two cents :)

wow wow wow wow am away for a week and damm..... well not tons of post but hey who cares and coming to
sachiaiko
I agree most of the mmo's have crappy avatars but I play for the scenery mostly :p but I must say the game second life has pretty cool avatars no two avatars look the same that coz you can modify everything from hair to facial hair from heda size to lip size, how tall you want to me, fat or rippling pectorals, big feet tiny feet, everything is customizable and best of it it's free but you want land and build shops for other players to buy your stuff or build a castle you have to pay for it though. That game has been the most addictive of all for me and web-based ones used to play Utopia, Fantasy football and
sachiaiko
thanx for the link heh gonna play those during servers upgrades and downtimes :D and

coming to your post yeah there are a lot of solo quests that are story within story hell I do all my quests solo and for elite quests I just wait till I can solo them for it is more challenging and you dont have to deal with kids playing withyou.

lol and how do you know if the girl avatar is actuaqlly a guy :p . There are tons of guys out there playing girl avatars trying to get in touch with their inner female   (sheesh wear panties like I do and by the way they are really really comfortable than boxers)

hey just a question.....

Has anyone played Maplestory?? It's designed for younger folks but it is fun for all ages.

I did try it though I must say korean or chinese MMO's.....what happened?? Not that they suck at making games its just that they seem to make mmo's at the same rate their population is increasing lol. But its ok I guess not my kinda of genre though. Of all the eastern mmo's I tried only ones I saw worth playing for a bit was silkroad online. Another game I tried that was a bit like maple story well the kiddie graphics (kiddie but kinda cute) was ROSE online and btw if you want info on free mmo's or what's hot and what's set to release this is one of the very good sites http://mmorpg.com/index.cfm.

I still play WoW, doing the DDO beta, NWN's ate my life for awhile :) did the EQ thing back in the day. I'm a WoT, potter, Orson scott card, gene wolfe as far as literature goes.

Welcome aboard :)

i haven't had time to play anything interesting in years. i'm more into the "age of myth/titans" kind of strategy games anyway.

i have heard rumor that there is a patch program for the old "shadows of arn" ad&d pc game that allows you to play a gay character with a love interest.

wow really?? are u sure it is a patch and not a mod? I know there are mods for some rts games like Civ series and AoE series have custom maps. Did u try search in google mods shadows of arn? I did but it kept correcting itself to Baldur's gate series. Try it out and see if it works :)

I hav ealways wanted to try this genre of game but one thing is missing: the need to connect in a game setting like the need to connect in real life, or on Lit, in a sexual and personal way. (whatever that means...lol)

Do you know what I mean ??

dammit folks. All these posts and not one about the biggest MMO of 05' if you dont take into consideration that WoW came out almost at the end of the year and took most of the players in the game i play. -_- FFXI or for those just browsing this thread Final Fantasy 11 This game is awesome for anyone who can pay the 11 dollars a month for a character. If you like the FF series this is a good MMO. Plays like most others, but with a Square Enix tweak. also after buying the inital game (Pc) or game and HDD (Ps2) the chat service is free. POL or playonline. You can chat up a storm and there are a lot of cybering going on. Only thing that costs you money is when you purchas a content ID for your character.

Enough rambling out of me. Yay for all the MMO's that suck the lives out of folks like me ^_^
