It's been a whole two weeks now. Since my last swig of a beverage heavily laced with caffiene. I was in near tears for the first few days, the headaches were astounding. I was pretty sick and keeping little or nothing down, and after that my head hurt so much from the caffiene DT's that I didn't want to drink anything. I decided that I wasn't going to be so dependant on this horrible drug.

I miss it, in an introspective abstract. Mountaind Dew or Coke is a simple and cheap drink to get ahold of. Easier than water at times. I'm not sugar free yet, so that'll have to wait until I've finished mourning caffiene.

Shockingly, I have more energy because I'm sleeping better now. Who would have thought?

(((KM))) We are proud of you. Keep up the awesome will power and send some my way.

"I've been living on coffee and nicotine..."

You are *way* stronger than I am, KM; I'm really impressed. Good for you :)

Yep, my first step is to give up the caffiene, then to give up soda pop. One on occasion, but not as a staple to my diet. I hate to drink, I would rather dehydrate than drink anything, and the sweet soda has been what I've subsisted on for years. So, we'll see if I can actually do it. I figure that when I get back from the trip to Madison I'll phase out soda and go to flavored water and maybe lemonade, even though that's sugary, it's better than soda.

ever try herbal tea?

mint is my favorite....i stuff the cup half full of mint leaves....

How can one live without coffee? Man... I envy you. Mom will be so happy to know that you are no longer addicted to it! ;)

Yes..I understand the headache thing. When I was pg, my doc specifically told me NO CAFFEINE. I did my best. One soda every now and then, and decaf tea. God, the migraines I would have. Terrible! I think the first half of my pg was headaches. Thankfully, I never had morning sickness.

On the other hand: Smoking. Turner and I gave it up last wk. Now we are both ill with bad colds. And the week Ive had at work didnt help the urge much either. Ive been good, tho. Gonna stick with this!!!!!!

I sympathize, really. I had to give up coffee and sugary drinks (no soda AT ALL). The headaches were gruesome.

I drink tea now. It's really much better.

I need to give up caffiene. They're one of the triggers of my migraines, a thing i know well. But...gods!...how can i begin the day without that hot creamy latte? Maybe with the approach of warm weather, that morning coffee won't be as alluring.

You're *strong*, Muff.
Congrats.

Oh, I misread the thread title. I thought this was going to be your Thoughts On Defecation, KM.

I've also had to give up caffeine because of stomach problems... Acid Reflux... This was over 6 months ago and was very difficult! But you will survive.

At first I downed decaf coffee in 2 to 3 times the quantity of what I used to drink in fully caffeinated coffee. I still drink lots of decaf but now quite as much.

I also gave up all caffeine - in soda, chocolate or wherever it may be found.

Also on the list of things the doctor said I might have to give up were carbonated beverages, alcohol and spicy foods.
As far as I'm concerned spicy foods are the LAST thing on the list I'm willing to give up!

I almost never drink carbonated beverages anymore and have pretty much given up alcohol as well except on rare/special occaisions.

So what vices are left? SEX and Cigars.

Cigars are pretty easy to come by - only problem is the cold weather, can't smoke them in the house.

Sex. I'm not getting enough. Hell, probably doesn't matter how much I get - its still not enough!

Anyway, Killermuffin - you will survive...
