Hope no-one here, or those they know and/or love are affected by the flooding. Sending positive vibes your way for it all to return to more normal conditions soon, and for all to be safe.:rose:

Well, I live in one of the highest points in the east midlands, so if I flood, well, there's alot of people under water.

So thoughts are going out to those who are affected by it.

Thankyou hon. :rose:

It's not as bad here as it is in Haiti but I know a few people who have suffered from the flash floods. As they become more common over here, people in certain areas are finding it impossible to get building/contents insurance and many have lost everything they own. It's a very poor state of affairs.

Luckily for me, I live at the top of a valley, so I'm fairly safe.

Flood Joke said:
A flood is expected to wipe out a small town and evacuation is begun. A jeep is driving through town and comes across a guy standing on his front porch. "Hop in," they said, "The flood will be coming in any minute." "Don't worry about me," the man replied, "I have faith that God will save me." Unable to change his mind, they drove on without him. Soon the flood waters began to roll in, and a rescue team drifted by this man's house in a boat. "Hop in," they requested, "We'll get you out of here." "Don't worry about me," was the man's reply, "I have faith that God will save me." Unable to change his mind, the rescue team continued on without him. Not long after that, the flood waters had completely covered this man's house, and he was hanging from the chimney. A rescue crew in a helicopter spotted him and dropped him a ladder. The man refused the ladder insisting that God would save him. Unable to change his mind, the helicopter went on without him. The water continued to rise and the man drowned. On his way through the pearly gates, he met up with God and exclaimed, "You really let me down! I had faith that you would save me and look what happened!" "I simply can't believe your lamentable lack of faith," was God's reply, "I sent you a jeep, a boat and a helicopter."

Jokes aside, I think it is sad 2 people have already lost their lives as a result of the flooding. It is good you are both on higher ground, I hope others are as safe and fortunate.:rose:

They reported on the news earlier there was 4 dead already, and the severe weather warning is in place for another 3 days or so yet.

They say the whole of september will be a washout. The river burst its banks earlier but only into the local park.

That's even worse!! I only heard about the 2 in an earlier report. Let's hope it subsides quickly and without any more loss of life. I feel for those who are trying to salvage and clean out their homes, or have that ahead of them, not to mention the loss of personal items which have sentimental value.

We already had the wettest summer since records began so land that should be mostly dry is already waterlogged. Sea levels are constantly, steadily rising, which is potentially a serious issue in a small, over-populated island like ours. London is also at risk as it is at the mouth of the river Thames, which is tidal. The flood barrier there is very out-dated and I don't believe it would hold up to any severe weather.

Unfortunately, it seems that 5 people have died in the last 24 hours. News article.

Ugh, tell me about it. F is forever telling me we should move to Oz because The Netherlands is going to be mostly under water if sea levels continue to rise...me, I prefer taking the risk and hope they find the cash and ways to reinforce the fantastic barriers we already live with, as opposed to frying to death without water. Took this pic just as we were about to leave NL on our way to Spain...sort of reminds you we live on land reclaimed from the sea, on a daily basis.

Sorry, but can someone catch me up? Why is the UK receiving so much rain? We got it from Hurricane Hanna, who deposited so much water in my backyard that we were able to kayak in it. In my backyard.
