Thoughts About Prose Flow

To me prose is music without tones. Singing is prose with tones. And I suspect a whole new world of prose construction is possible by knowing how music worls.

Fuck me dead. I - seriously - this is true... I have watched this A LOT before. I used to have it on VHS tape and even cassette.

I have ALWAYS used the underlying ideas to write - but I can only use 'ear' to arrange the prose. I'm not aware there is any such thing as 'the chromatic scales' or the 'do-re-mi' of prose.

Possibly there should be though. I don't know how. But I fully concur with the basic idea.

There are half a dozen classical and semi- or modern classical musicians I rely on to write my stories.

I suspect good prose conforms to musical rules. Someone needs to earn a PhD analyzing how music and speech/prose complement each other.

What I got from the video (in my ham-handed, neolithic way) is feel free to go on tangents, but make sure the tangent is rooted in, and eventually returns to, the base material and that the connections can be followed throughout.

I am really glad you brought this up. I was just thinking about this the other day.

Good writing has a "beat" to it. Not sure how else to describe it, it's almost intuitive. Looking over my earlier works, they are choppy with no discernible beat. I wonder if anyone else has noticed anything similar with their writing?

I don't know how music evolved but I feel safe thinking orators and singers came frst, and maybe prose and music share common rules at some level.

Bernstein addressed the evolution of tonality. The kitten on the keyboard follows no rules.

On, now, I have over 100 stories posted at Literotica that aren't GM, which is about twice more total stories than most everyone else has. Don't go making the mistake of thinking I only write GM. Honestly, this thread is garbage. The only reason I'm here it to say is that I've always liked cheerleaders.

Yeah I am soo no music oriented when it comes to its terminology so I unfortunate quickly got a headache of watching that video for less than a minute because of the constant stopping and playing of music between words.
