....... as a garderobe full of sheep.

Oops, sorry. I though you said "ewesome."

... Moonrise.

... The voice of God.

... The stars.

... My ass.

... all dependent on the type of poem, of course. And on how familiar they are with my ass.

Awesome as this, Sirhugs...

one of those directional clothesbrushes that cater for both left and right handed people owing to the fact that the handle can be fitted to either end of the brush.

SirHugs,

I'm sure "Awesome as awesome does" has been done to death.

If it's targeted at the S/M crowd, maybe, "Awesome as a root canal?"

In case romance is in order, maybe "Awesome as a first kiss"

And it it's Lit related, what about, "Awesome as the south end of a north bound MathGirl or Durtgurl" (depending on their current AV's)

The mind boggles at the awesome possibilities.

I don't think my style of runon similewould help much with a poem, but perhaps a little context would help others give you a more serious answer.

As Awesome as...

... a starry sky in the desert with no moon, if you can get far enough away from city lights and the smog layer to see any stars at all before the coyotes or rattlesnakes or mountain lions kill and eat you.

The only serious advice I can give, regardless of context is don't. An "awesome as..." simile hardly has a place in a poem unless you're writing a satire.

Awesome as her sweet tears, slowly running down her creamy cheek and dropping, one by one, onto her heaving breast, yes, the perfect bosom that launched a 1,000 ships in her name, "Helen of Troy."

Go for it dude!
