I took the Beast out for another ride today.

As I've mentioned before it's been having problems. It keeps dropping number 4 Cyl. at low RPM's.

I have been checking things out and because I'm getting spark and even getting good spark at the right times I have narrowed the problem down to the Carb.'s. To the low speed jet as a matter of fact.

I had dumped quite a bit of Carb./Jet Cleaner into the tank and run the bike at idle a couple of times over the past few times. Today I fired it up and took it for a ride. It was, ummmmm, exciting.

At idle it ran rough as a cob. I had to keep a bit of throttle on to keep it running. I backed it out of my parking area and motored down to the turn off onto the main road. I was ready and I kept the bike running until I got an opening in traffic. I rolled on the throttle and leaned into the turn. I could feel the engine laboring as I straightened the bike up then that last Cyl. caught. Holy shitski Batman. The bike surged and took off like a bat out of hell.

I kicked it up through the gears and it ran just fine, a ton of power and wanting to run. When I backed off the throttle though it started to cough and run rough again. Into the first turn about three miles down the road. It was coughing and I had to keep some throttle on to keep it running as I leaned into the turn. When I rolled on the throttle again though it took off like you wouldn't believe. It almost caught me by surprise when it surged. Whoa Beastie.

At the next intersection I was prepared for this and it was a damned good thing I was. The road was wet because of sprinklers. I had straightened the bike up again when the engine caught and I could hear the back tire chirp. If I had been in the lean when that happened it would have been interesting.

The lap around the block wasn't far, just eight miles. I did it not once, not twice but four times and the bike was doing the same damned thing at the end of the ride.

I'm not pleased by this as it means I'll be pulling the Carb.'s tomorrow morning so I can clean/rebuild them. This should be amusing as I've never rebuilt four carbs at once.

Make sure you have a carb synchronizer when you put everything back together or you will have problems with it.

Carb Synch. has been ordered.

The carbs. were pulled today and let tell you, I truly didn't enjoy that experience. It turns out the last guy who owned the bike put in a new Air Box. Now if I ever catch that guy I'm going to be thumping on him. The Airbox is oversized which made removing the Carbs. a lot more difficult than it needed to be.

Now I have to start carefully taking these apart and cleaning them. Hey, seeing as I have them off the bike I might as well clean and inspect all three of them.
