A story circulated through the hospital today about a patient who came into the E.R. last night with some minor burns and a concusion.
It seems the guy had tied one on, as had his wife. They then decided they wanted something to eat. He went out onto the patio and after opening the grill loaded it with a bag of charcoal. When he tried to light the charcoal it failed to light so he went into the shed for the lighter fluid. ailing to find this he grabbed the next best thing, half a gallon of gasoline he had for his weed trimmer. He dumped this on the charcoal and returned the can to it's place in the shed.
Meanwhile, his wife wondering at what was taking hi so long wandered out to the patio. When he came back from the shed and readied himself to light the grill she asked him if he had remembered to turn on the gas. Without thinking he reached down, turned on the Propane, and started looking for his lighter. It took him a minute to remember the built in ignitor, which he promptly hit.
It must have been spectacular to see.
Unfortunately I can also easily imagine the potential lawsuits, and the warning labels to come out of this.
