I don't think it is fair to others that you allow some voting on your poem and then take OFF the right to vote, thus making sure your score will never decrease. Either allow voting, or don't. but don't straddle the fence.


Dear Anonymous:

I had only intended to take the voting off for a day or two, just playing around with the new feature. I didn't know that once you cease to allow voting that it can't be restored. It's a done deal. There is no fence straddling. I wish I could so that the 3 poems I did turn off could make the spiral downward and fall off the chart along with many of the other fine poets who were "one voted" to obscurity.

You should be able to turn voting on and off at will. If this is not working for you currently, please let me know and I'll have Manu look into it.

We know that there is a bug right now that allows Voting Off stories to still show up in the Top Lists. This is something that needs to be fixed, but our tech priority right now is dealing with the hardware and server issues that have been causing some slowness at peak usage times.

The ability to turn off and on voting is a brand new feature, and a few glitches are expected while getting it up to speed. Rest assured, the voting on/off issue will be fixed as soon as we have a moment.

As far as the Anonymous feedback, feel free to blame the problem on us. In theory, when you turn the voting off, your score should disappear from view, and your story/poem should be gone from the Top Lists. When you turn voting back on, all of that should be restored. Only stories or poems which are voluntarily accepting votes should be included in the voting part of the site.

As I said, we've had some more pressing issues to deal with, but this is on our list. I apologize if someone(s) is haranguing you because of our naughty script. On the other hand, if someone is haranguing you because you deserve it, then I give them my full support.
