Navy Could Sideline 17 Support Ships Due to Manpower Issues

Military Sealift Command has drafted a plan to remove the crews from 17 Navy support ships due to a lack of qualified mariners to operate the vessels across the Navy, USNI News learned.

The MSC “force generation reset” identified two Lewis and Clark replenishment ships, one fleet oiler, a dozen Spearhead-class Expeditionary Fast Transports (EPF) and two forward-deployed Navy expeditionary sea bases that would enter an “extended maintenance” period and have their crews retasked to other ships in the fleet, three people familiar with the plan told USNI News Thursday.

Based on the crew requirements on the platforms, sideling all the ships could reduce the civilian mariner demand for MSC by as many as 700 billets.

A defense official confirmed the basic outline of the plan to USNI News on Thursday. Two sources identified the forward-deployed sea bases as USS Lewis Puller (ESB-3), based in Bahrain in U.S. Central Command, and USS Herschel “Woody” Williams (ESB-4), based in Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Greece, and operated in U.S. European and Africa Command.

In WWII we had over 6700 surface combatants in the US Navy. Today we have fleets with a combined total of 293 deployable ships and Joe Biden thinks he can take on the Middle East, The Russians, and the Chinese in the Indo Pacific and projecting power to each. It's insane. In WWII if you joined the Navy you were likely gone for the duration. Today's "sailors" start whining if they're out for more than six months.

You want the simp with multiple fake health deferments, who thinks our stealth fighters are literally invisible and also thinks we have a jet called an F-32, to lead the most manliest bigliest lethal military on God's earth as well as hold the nuke codes?

Yeah, no.

In WWII we were fighting the Axis powers in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in a WORLD war. America was mobilized on 100% war footing, something not likely to ever be seen again.

Ronald Reagan demanded a "600-ship Navy" which was found to be a massive overreach. President Clinton had the unenviable task of winnowing down the bloated Navy into an effective naval force.

Battleships were replaced by aircraft carriers as the centerpiece of the naval armadas. Chinese hypersonic missiles are causing aircraft carriers to be obsolete, no matter how kewl they look in Top Gun remakes.

Today's sailors complain less than you do. You and Bonespurs never served. Calling the Navy "feminized" is your routine dig at the military, it is tiresome. Everyone knows you are projecting your own insecurities onto the military..

We don't need all those men sitting on huge floating targets. The next war is lots of little flying things and speedy little floaty things.
That's not getting through to so many. I have my little drone, the controls are the same no matter what the size. Hell, even my youngest grand-daughter can out fly me. She's becoming a pretty damn good shot too.,

Have you even served in the military or do you just post this stuff because guns make your cock hard?

Maybe you’re Navy and you’re mad because you can’t get any dick on ship because the girls are stealing it from you. Don’t swallow, don’t tell?

I guess this is all Biden’s fault for some reason?

Rightguide never served in the military (with this iteration of his userid anyway , his previous userid won two...TWO Silver Stars in the 'Nam as a USMC Force Recon "snipper"(sic) ). He's retconned this userid to reinvent himself as a Gen-Xer, not a crusty old boomer any more. He left the military in 1974, stating it wasn't fun anymore since there was no more open season on "hunting gooks". That's his story anyway, there are posts around here about him trading military supplies and secrets for Viet Cong pussy.

Many of his military exploits were purportedly adapted into an old Clint Eastwood movie "Heartbreak Ridge". They used quite a number of his adventures in the film. His critics claim that Rightguide adopted the war exploits of the film as his own.

Rightguide is the most closeted homosexual on this board, primarily because his best buddy on Lit, JoePepsiCo, is a "recovering homosexual" who now claims to be the most "Alpha as fuck" guy on this board and has an intense loathing for his former "lifestyle choice". JoePepsiCo was also a Marine, go figure.

Rightguide has never met a problem in America that could not be solved with either another tax cut for the rich or a stern lecture to the poor. Every shortcoming in his life/lives has been the fault of a Democratic president in the White House.

The sailors referenced in this matter are in fact not in the Navy at all. They are civilians.

Doesn’t he proudly wear the Vietnam Canned Corn ribbon?

Damn. This threadfail was a seriously unforced error on RightyGuidey's end.

Literally served no purpose whatsoever and will subsequently sink to the muddy bottom of the river bed to join all the other countless forgotten threadfails.

aw look at Zumi here, waxin' poetic and stuff. 😊

Rightguide, I hope you appreciate this kindness Zumi is showing you.

That's a decoration he got from the VFW center. I wish he'd shared his numerous "can of corn" stories in the fetish/nonconsent writing forums before his untimely departure.

The story about paying for a weekend orgy for his entire fireteam with a pair of Keds seemed a bit far-fetched though....

While the uS Navy is not the largest in the world, it is considered the most powerful. The US has 11 aircraft carriers, which are the world's largest military vessels, while Russia and China have one and three, respectively.

The military has people planning for the next war.

The internet has people asking why the military isn't planning for the last war.

We always called ships her for all the obvious reasons and "she who must be obeyed" was the reason men took all the long voyages in all those rickety boats..
