I just found out that a friend of mine who is a high level programmer guru but happens to specialize an an ancient programming language has been secretly out of work for six months now. Nobody knew. I just found out today that he is working at Dunkin Donuts. Holy shit, I feel bad. My co-worker went to go get donuts and coffee and got served up by my friend. She came back and told me he was working there and it was really weird. I also just found out that evidentilly in the last couple of days his secret has gotten out and quite a few people know now.
There is no shame in that, but I know it hurts his pride. I called him on his cell phone and he hung up on me. I think it is because he is ashamed or something. He shouldn't be. I don't know how the hell he has been working at Dunkin Donuts for months and no one knew.
What should I do? I don't want him to feel weird or ashamed, and I know he does, even though he shouldn't.
Today sucks really bad.
