There's also the National Progressive Party (the Vermont Progressive Party's attempt to go national) and the Working Families Party (a New York party's attempt to go national), but their politics are more or less identical. The People's Party appears to be a bigger deal because it builds on the Sanders campaign. They all might as well merge.
And various socialist and communist parties, but they don't amount to much beyond an online presence.

Politics1.com's page on parties is a good place to find an impartial thumbnail description of (and link to) every American third party now in existence. It's an interesting read -- did you know the Prohibition Party is still around?

No, they're more or less equally extreme ends of the spectrum, but not equally wrong. The three parties linked in the first two posts, and the politics they represent, are pretty much America's only hope of a tolerable future.
The question is whether they will grow into a significant independent force, or take over the Dems the way the hard-right and Tea Party took over the GOP.
One or the other will happen, because conservatism is demographically doomed -- not by racial/ethnic demographics, but generational.

Wanting to kill anybody who can't trace their ancestry to North western Europe and wanting to protect the rainforests, elephants and get clean energy are not two sides of the same coin.
The progressive or social-democratic left is eco-friendly, to be sure -- but the most important things about it are economic. No other movement in American politics is going to push us toward a more equal distribution of wealth, or seriously challenge the power of the plutocracy -- which is just about the most important problem our society has, now and at all times since 1980. Yes, the existence of the plutocracy is a more important (if less urgent) problem than covid. Less important than climate change, but those two are directly linked -- it is only the plutocracy that obstructs effective remedial measures.

That is not what the People's Party, National Progressive Party or Working Families Party are after. The world's existing social democracies -- where things in general go much better than they ever do here -- are not "authoritarian" or "totalitarian" or even "socialist." America urgently needs to be more like them (not like North Korea), and that is all these parties are aiming for.

This thread is about progressives or social democrats -- something well to the left of "liberal" and well to the right of "socialist." They are America's only real hope. And they find no comfortable home among the Democrats.
