This is in the news in Atlanta right now. As of a few minutes ago the news said 6 adults and 5 juveniles are in jail. Three of them can be seen laughing while being led into court.
MARIETTA, Ga., Nov 2 (Reuters) - Authorities in Georgia said on Thursday they have obtained a videotape that allegedly showed up to 25 men molesting and raping a 13-year-old mentally disabled girl.
The tape, which has led to the arrest of six adults for rape and aggravated child molestation, shows a posse of men engaging in sex with the unidentified girl in an apartment in Marietta, about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of downtown Atlanta.
The girl, described by police as "severely mentally handicapped," said the men lured her into the apartment building and raped her for several hours on Oct. 13 and 14. She was released the following morning.
"We have a tape that does depict some of the conduct and activity that occurred that evening," said Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head, who described the case as one of the "most despicable" he had seen in 22 years as a lawyer.
Head said he expected further arrests. He added that consent would not be a legal issue in the case because the victim was under the legal age of consent and had a significant mental disability.
The six suspects in police custody were Jamon Aiken, 17, Charles Grant, 19, Christopher Wyatt, 24, Cornell Lyons, 17, Taurean Green, 17, and Isaac Cummings, 18. They were held without bail on Thursday.
Police said they had additional warrants out for two adults, Raphael Joseph and Deon Bowman. Five juveniles, including a 12-year-old, have also been charged in connection with the alleged gang rape.
"So far we have 13 (suspects) identified. We're hoping to identify the rest of those 20 to 25 so we can get names on them and hopefully get warrants on them," Cobb County police spokesman Brody Staud said.
