I don't know how old you are, but if I had to guess I'd say it is just your perception of America that has changed since your childhood. The aftereffects of slavery and Jim Crow have never been absent (at least not since those evils were still current), and there has always been a social norm that encouraged people to refuse to do anything that anyone in authority even suggests maybe you ought to do, simply because they can. People like Plum Tiger and FF have been calling everyone an inch to the left of centre "communists" for a hundred years.

What I do think has changed is that we are finally coming to a sort of reckoning about our failure to fully address the realities of racism and how real they still are. That's why the Confederate statues are finally coming down (about damn time). It could get worse before it gets better, but I do believe it will get better. Also, the harsh realities of what 40 years of economic policies favouring only the rich are becoming impossible to ignore, so one of these years we might even see renewed support for progressive taxation and investing in our infrastructure in a big way again. Sadly, that's a ways off. But people are aware of the reality that falling real wages and crushing student loan debt are doing real damage, and that's a start.

As for Trump, remember: he lost the popular vote!

let me preface my comments by saying this
there are many things about trump that i do not like
i wish someone would take his twitter away from him
i wish he would be less condescending/smart alecy and just stick to the facts

but here is why i voted for him and will vote for him again:
he is a patriot. i love America and i can not support anyone who i believe subverts the country, sells out, or puts themselves ahead of America.
trump tries to put God first. like it or not, this is a Christian nation....founded on Christian principles. i certainly believe in freedom of religion....but govt can not restrict religion.
trump is probably the most business oriented president in our lifetimes. our country has been sold out to foreign countries. NAFTA almost bankrupted the country. we need manufacturing jobs, we need trade parity, and we need our people to be working and have good jobs and good opportunities. trump gets that and has done more to onshore manufacturing than all former presidents combined.
trump is for the sanctity of life. abortion is a blight on this country. we have legally murdered minimally 60 million babies......babies God made and sent to us......perhaps great artists, scientists, inventors, patriots........we will never know because they are dead. America will be most harshly judged for the murder of babies. i believe trump sees this issue the same way i do.
trump can not be bought. it is why the democrats hate him so bad....he is dangerous because they can not lure him into their club. they have no leverage over him. they trade in favors, clandestine deals that make them millions.....but they are all in it together. they all work to enrich themselves far above the any benefits for american people. trump is just the opposite he gives and gives and gives.

so.....those are a few of the reasons why i have and will vote for trump

now when it comes to biden harris:
both are staunch socialists
both agree with murdering a baby up to the second its born
both will definitely drastically increase taxes - people are already taxed to death
both support every form of immorality imaginable
