"This Is Not a Porn Board"

This isn't a porn board. This isn't an erotica board either. This isn't a sex board. We have those, namely the Sexual Role Playing Board and the Amateur Pic Feedback Board.

This is a community. We were brought together by a common interest in pornographic/erotic/smut stories and happened into this particular place. This is a place where we discuss everything from politics, war, and social ills to who is wearing green panties, what kind of fruit would we be, and fun flirting. This is a well-rounded community where people get together to talk about anything that pleases them.

We are all human beings. We all have good days when we're friendly and we all have bad days. Some of us are passive, most assertive, some aggressive; just like every other community in existence. Because we are a whole community of human beings, we will have things that aren't necessarily fun, that aren't very friendly, and that generally demonstrate the ugly side of human nature. This is, actually, a good thing. It gives the people who come here a place to be completely themselves.

You can be whomever you want here. Most of us figured out that the best person to be is yourself. One of the greatest, and rarest, qualities of this board is the fact that you do not have to censor yourself. Only three things are taboo: spam, posting another's private information, and physical threats. This is a freedom that no one has anywhere else in the planet. There is no where that you can say whatever you like without fear of retribution from the local constabulary.

To call this place a porn board is to cheapen the friendships that have developed here. If this were just a porn board, or even an erotic board, then there would be no lasting friendships, there would be no lives touched and changed. Why not? Because the only thing that would exist here would be sex and that is not something you can base a commitment of oneself on.

Every last one of us has made good, close friends here. We didn't do with cybersex. We didn't do it looking at pornographic pictures or erotica art. We didn't do it by discussing sexual issues. We did it by reading a wide variety of opinions by those friends, deciding we liked their posting style, and then we began a personal dialogue that deepened into friendship. People have moved to different countries because this board and the people in it made that possible. People have left abusive homes and moved across the country to have the basis of a successful start in life all because of this board.

When anyone refers to this place as a porn board, then they are denying the very friendships that surround this place. They are denying the strong and wonderful communications that exist here. They are denying the fact that people in this community touch each others' lives and make a real difference. To say this is a porn board denies the humanity in it.

People come here for solace when they hurt. They come here to vent when they are angry. They come here to flirt when they want to have fun. They come here to discuss issues that disturb them. They come here be with their friends. They come here to troll because they have an inadequacy within themselves to fill. No one comes here only for sex. People who start out that way quickly leave or come back for other reasons. Why? This is not a porn board.

I've always wanted to ask, and I haven't since I didn't want to appear rude. But, does using "Jesus H. Christ" as a kind of a swear have the same effect for a Jew as it does for a Christian? Does it qualify as "taking God's name in vain?" Or is it meaningless?

Discuss. :)

KillerMuffin

that was the most amazing post I've read in a long time.

Thank you.

Good question, Cheyenne, you should start your own thread and see if anyone answers it.

My post wasn't intended to offend anyone. My apologies.

God, I can see the spinoff threads now.

Since Jews do not consider JC part of Judiasm, technically we are not taking the Lord's name in vain. That doesn't mean we run around saying it and offending goyim all over the planet, however worthless they may be.

I was kidding. But now I am curious. I say sweet jesus all the time? Am I fucking offending people?

You do realize Jesus was a practicing Jew? Why do you not consider Him part of Judaism?

You consider goyim worthless?

Nope, I wasn't offended! Swearing really doesn't bother me. If I'd been offended, I would have said so. I really just was curious.

For those who claim to be Christian, I can see where "Jesus H. Christ" would be considered "bad language." But I didn't see how it could be for a Jew, since Jesus was just a man for those who don't believe. So how does it get into the vocabulary then? Is it just generic?

jesus fucking christ

Note to everyone:

no, I dont think the Lit board is worthless

yes, I know it's a community to some people and you all have the right to say whatever you want.............

Yes I know JC was a Jew. BFD. So is Groucho Marx, but he's not mentioned in the Old Testament. That's where Jew-dee-ism comes from.

No, I don't think goyim are worthless. Well, maybe some.

Finally, 99.9% of what I post is with tongue in cheek.

it is a porn board.

just cause people add other shit to it, doesn't make it something else.

I have friends here. Yes there is a community. But guess what? It's a fucking porn board. If you can't deal with that, you're in denial.

:D :D :D

goyim schmoyim

Holy Mary Mother of Jesus H Tap Dancing Christ on a Pogo Stick.

I agree with Perky. If it wasn't a porn site then I could access it through the firewall at work, but I can't so it is!

Actually, I did. And to call this anything other than a porn site is denial. Now to call in just a porn board, that I'd disagree with. But then, the whole thing was said tongue in cheek, eyes rolling. I'm with Miles.

----------------------------

I believe anything is a cuss word if you make it. For example, I can say "Jumpin' Jahoosaphat!" and mean the same thing as "Jesus Christ!" The only difference between my saying it, as an Atheist, from a Christian saying it, is that they're not supposed to say it (in vain).

But for some reason, they do.

See, that's what I was looking for.

Hmmm... maybe the "Jesus Christ" is meant to have more effect on the person hearing it than the person saying it?
