I talked with my parents this morning. (Not to mention received an E-Mail with an attached picture last night from them.)

It seems my father spent the past couple of weeks cutting a fallen tree out of the other trees on his property. That tree and two others have been sectioned and sold to a local lumber mill. Each tree was in excess of fifty feet tall. He did this alone, including the work of climbing into the neighboring trees to cut the one tree free. (My wife states that she knows I get my insanity from my father.)

They also informed me that my father is in training for a local Mini Triathalon. This is one that includes a half mile swim, (In sub 60 degrees waters known for waves.) a fifteen mile bike ride and a ten mile run.

Now my father has informed me that he isn't planning on placing or anything like that. He just plans on finishing it within the alloted time. (He said the same thing last year when he ran a mini marathon of thirteen miles, and he finished in the middle of the pack.) Oh I suppose I should mention that my father turned 70 last January.

My dad only stopped running five miles everyday when his eyesight failed enough that he couldn't be sure of his footing on the roadside.
He was 80 at the time.

My father is fat and lazy. The closest thing that he does to fun is skeet shooting.

I love the guy, but his stories from before he had children are so much better than I have heard of him doing in the last twenty years, and he is only in his mid sixties.
