My wife and I went back to the beach today. We went to a fairly popular one and were having a good time. I grabbed my mask and fins and did some snorkeling.
When I finally came out of the water I pulled off my fins and started walking towards our blanket. I was about half way there when I heard and felt a crunch in the sand under my right foot. I stopped, lifted my foot to see what I had stepped on expecting to see something like a crab shell.
No such luck, there in the sand was a broken Beer Bottle. Oh shit. I lifted my foot a bit higher and twisted it around a bit to look and sure enough I could see green glass sticking out. Now it started to hurt, and it hurt even more as I sat down and started pulling the shards out of my hide. (Dropping them onto my fin as I did so.)
I finally got all of the pieces I could grab with my fingers out. I carefully picked up the remaining glass from the sand and with that on my fin I slowly hobbled over to the blanket.
When I reached the blanket I sat down and dug in the pile of clothing and pulled out my brand new Multi-tool. I used that to carefully pull the rest of the glass out of my foot. While I was doing this one of the lifeguards came over to see what was going on. When he saw my foot he didn't ask any questions, he just called for an ambulance. (At the hospital they pulled two more pieces of glass out of my foot and gave me a ton of Anti-biotics to take.)
So now my foot hurts like a son of a gun. I'm not allowed to go swimming until my foot heals up and it's supposed to be over 90 degrees ever day for the foreseeable future.
Oh how I would love to get my hands on the scum who left his trash on the beach. The only good point was it was me that got cut and not some kid.
