Simplest solution I can think of: Stories are not all that big in bytes. Keep them on a floppy disc or two. Or on a cd-rw of you have the hardware for that.

Good luck with the writing.

I think lin's right on the hiding your writing front!

As for advice on writing your first story....let me think...

Ok first of all don't be too eager to get your work online..make sure you edit it thoroughly before submiting it.

Make sure you have plenty of hot, interesting action..it is better to have a long interesting story than a short yawnsome one.

DON'T EVER use height, weight, boob or penis size in your character descriptions. Describe them don't give us a list of stats (personal gripe of mine if you'd not noticed)

Oh and have fun!!!

:D

I may be new to posting my stuff online, but I'm not new to writing or reading erotic literature. I agree with the previous posts. And I'll add a tidbit.

My pet peeve? Use correct grammar. Capitilize I. Keep your tenses corresponding.

Dear Ph,
As a first step, I'd suggest you explore the wonderful world of capital letters.
Helpfully,

Dear Perdita,
Doesn't WHAT he reads also count? I don't think the back of cereal boxes and Budweiser labels are necessarily the springboards to awakening nascent authitorship. But what do I know? I'm just a temporarily writ-out lexicographer.
MG
Ps. Why should people be encouraged to become authitors, anyway? There already seems to be gridlock on the path to acceptance at Lit., and this would only make it worse. Can't walk through the park anymore without stumbling over some damn authitor. More people should write dictionaries.

Well, Maths, if you're going to be picky, yes. I needed to presume Phill would know I meant good books or good stories. That's all I'll say. If he can't figure that out, tough.

not extraordinarily encouraging on purpose,

Hiya, Perdita,
Well, yes, one can certainly understand how one would not wish to be, can't one?
MG

Yeah, it's owner is all chipper and flirting with Pops already on that other thread. Some women!

You're thinking of writing your own stories?
You certainly do need help, but I'm not sure that there are
any qualified psychiatrists on the board.
Seriously, though.
I'd echo what others have said, especially about putting
your stories on a floppy. I find that people who write
tell of starting with one of two motivations: I want to
write just like ..., and ... writes shit; I could do better
than that. Generally, I'm more impressed with the work
of people who start from the second basis.
So don't try to write like Uther does; try to write better
than the crap Uther churns out.

thanks......?

well im gratefull for all the advice although i get the feeling one or two people are far too...whats the word....hmm....maybe ill just say i can picture you sitting in a jazz club dressed all in black (including stupid french head dress) smoking and complaining about everything.
but thanks again ;)

Well, I guess that's probably the last we'll hear from phil the lower case.
MG
Ps. "French head dress" my firm, shapely ass!

Snapping fingers for applause and drawing on a Gauloises.

C'est magnifique.

I'm normally one to give perky, happy (possibly translated into annoying) encouragement to new arrivals.....but I'm not sure I can stomach the mental image of me in a french head dress. Although, with my coloring, black is quite stiking on me.....

Hmm....maybe just a little welcome.

Welcome, sit down and enjoy yourself.

Whisp :rose:
