Don't buy a huge one and expect her to be able to take it right off the bat. I'd suggest getting one of the "set of 3" butt plug kits they make. It contains one each of a small, medium, and large. Yes, it can wonderful!

Think about a good quality silicone plug- Tantus and Happy Valley are good brands that have nice beginner plugs. I'm a huge fan of silicone because it's so durable and easy to clean. Just make sure you use a water-based lube.

As a side note I'd avoid anything made from jelly latex- it smells horrible and degrades easily, and emits possibly toxic chemicals.

So far you've gotten a lot of good advice. My wife doesn't use our butt plugs though, I do. One brand I'd consider when upgrading, as Dani suggests, is the NJoy line. They're stainless steal and comfortable enough to leave in for hours. I had some experience with plugs so I was able to use the large (equivalent to the medium one I have) with no problem.

I'm actually considering getting the 2.0 to feel a bit more full.
