Do you remember things that strangers say to you?

Off handed remarks? Said only in the brief moment shared.

Do they stay with you? Do you remember those brief encounters when the words are echoed once again?

The other day, some dope fiend said "don't smile too hard." like that was supposed to make me smile, or something. Pishaw!

Huh...

okay ..I'll share mine. I've shared them before.

When I was 16, I took a train to visit my grandparents, I met a much older gentleman in the beverage car. He cam eout of no where. Tucked a loose wild curl behind my ear and told me I reminded him of Rita Hayworth. I had no clue who he was talking about at the time.

A few years ago, a young punk came into a bar I was working at. It was late, I was tired & hot. He walked up to me & said, "Nice Rack". I won't tell you here what I did to him.

A total stranger told me two months ago in the park I had the most beautiful eyes...Yeah...that one I like a lot.

I tend to remember the strange things...
A few months ago I was waiting at a bus stop with some friends, and this woman came up to us and started talking. At some point she said,
"My son's father is Polish. He had good blood, and I didn't want it to go to waste, so I had his child. I didn't love him or marry him, but he had good blood."

You can only hear "Get your hands off my thigh" so many times before it permanently sticks.

About 7 years ago when my son was 18 months old he was a chubby baby for sure. He was in his stroller outside the post office one day when a REALLY FAT LADY came near us to post a letter in the slot. She looked down at my son and commented to me. "Oh what a fat baby he is."

Being a proud mother I said in return to her, "Oh what a fat woman you are." She looked at horror at me and huffed away.

But stuff it, if she could tell me my son he was fat, then why couldn't I tell her!!!

Damn bitch.

Yeah!!! Why do adults think it's ok to go at kids and not get the same back at themselves !!!!!

Anyways, I've had this conversation in my heads a few years now..

Yes, I do remember what strangers say to me ...

I was 16 yrs old, was working at my first job and an older man commented on the color of my eyes, he said when he looked up into the night sky he thought of the color of my eyes. I did not say anything to him... I thought it strange he would just come out and say that ...

Another time my friend & I had just gotten back from the clubs, it was 3am & we stopped at a convience store to get some cokes & use the restroom. We were the only ones in the store, I was waiting for my friend to come out of the restroom when a man came out of no where, he comes up to me really close and says

" Would you get mad if I told you some thing... " I just looked at him and he continues with " You have some thing I have not had in a long time... " by now I am backing up & wishing my friend would hurry... then he smiles" & he touches my hair and says I have such beautiful black hair " he was bald so hence saying I had some thing he did not have.... :p

I can go on forever ... my friends always make fun of me because they say I seem to attract strangers like there is no tomorrow.
