Aerosmith, U2 and Linkin Park are nominated for "Best Rock Album" at the Grammys.

In a year with outstanding relases from the White Stripes, the Strokes, The Hives and The Dismemberment Plan the Grammys seem hellbent in their bizarre plan to make it 1986 again.

The world sucks.

Allthough I appreciate that Ryan Adams was acknowledged.

The Grammys have never shown any integrity before, so why would they now?
In my opinion, they are not to be taken seriously.

I can't remember when a band i actually liked has ever been nominated for a Grammy... i don't even pay attention any more....

Well, I wouldn't go that far. This years Grammy's have some awesome acts nominated. From A(Ryan Adams) to Z(Jay-Z) good music is represented. Just poorly.

It makes me sad that none of my favorite music will ever be nominated for anything.

To be fair I think that says more about your taste in music than it does about the Grammys.

The White Stripes reminded me how much fucking fun music can be.

Kudos to those two crazy fuckers from Detroit. Well Done!

I'm sure I wouldn't be sad about a music award, or lack thereof.

Aren't they great? I don't think there is a song released in the last 5 years that I like more than "Fell in love with a girl"

I hope that's a good thing. :)

It's not so much the award as it is the general lack of recognition for the great music out there today.

Mine will never be either... though I’d be so proud to see Hammerfall, Manowar, the Misfits
etc. get a little public attention... but I don't think the general masses will ever
understand/appreciate them enough... their loss :)

Um, well, not really. I mean, if a band is good enough they tend to get recognized. My three favourire musical acts right now are

1. Fountains of Wayne
2. Elliot Smith
3. Snoop Dogg

Snoop's been nominated for many awards. The other two have been nominated for Academy Awards.

Its so hard to narrow it to one song but this certainly is on the short list of their best.

Just digging into their older stuff now so lots more to discover.

And the thing about them is that they proove without a doubt that you can still be making great rock music. Rock's not dead but the morons who listen to Matchbox 20 and Limp bizkit seem intent on killing it.

Hmmm, to be fair my favorite music usually doesn't have lyrics in it. Instrumental/classical is my thing.

Yeah but they have grammys for that too. Daft Punk is nominated this year in the instrumental category.

Eeebz, don't tell me you're even surprised Aerosmith got nominated again for the sixty-third year in a row. Maybe they'll do a duet with Eminem if we're lucky. Bleccch.

What you should really be sad about is how bad the Swedes kicked your ass in hockey the other night.

I thought that this thread

would be good for a laugh.
And I was right.

Well, everyone knows that Detroit rules, don't they?

Woohoo!!

And since this thread is really about music, I'll just add that ABBA kicks ass.
