Things are awfully quiet around here lately

Is it just me, or has CHYOO really gotten quiet lately?

I know I've been out of the loop for a while, but I can remember back when it seemed a lot more active around here. People were swapping threads left and right, we were talking about them, we were having some fun with it. Now, it seems that the topic of the day is how much the site sucks.

What can we do to get the spice back?

I have some ideas about that. Here's what I think should happen:

Step 1: Write two threads for someone else. Two different people or the same one. Two different stories or the same. Write more than two if you feel like it. Let's get the threads flowing again.

Step 2: Review someone else's work. We all like to receive kind words, so find some threads by other people that you like and tell them so. One good thing about CHYOO 2 is that it takes a lot less time to submit a review than it used to.

Step 3: It has been pointed out that CHYOO 2 has no link to this message board. Find a new author, or just one who you haven't seen here before, and suggest that they come on over. Do this only once, though, because some authors are bound to get more than one invitation as it is and we don't want to pester people.

Step 4: Be patient. CHYOO 2 won't be in beta forever. They're bound to do an overhaul soon, if for no other reason than to put advertising back on the site.

Does anyone see any fault with these ideas? I'd like to see this site jump again. Let's make it happen.

Cheers,

Good thinking!

Some great ideas... now if I only had the time to get it done! Hopefully I can get back into the Chyoo swing of things soon. I have lost touch lately. Busy real life and all.

Gystex,

Thanks for the concrete suggestions on getting things going again. They sound like good ideas to me.

I had been feeling that it was quiet, so was mostly trying to find places to contribute until things pick up again. (rather than just complaining more than I already had).

Guess I'd better get in my next contributions before I head out of town for a couple weeks...

got #1, 2, & 4 covered

I've been quietly plugging along, continuing to add threads to my cycle of approved ones, and trying a few new (4!) listed in the 'new stories' recently. Like you said, its more enjoyable when you get some feedback, though I haven't from the additions so far.

I always enjoyed the stopping time stories and the latest by analplay is very enjoyable, though with 12 threads deep by the second day, its hard to find a place to contribute that hasn't been covered.

I recommend jakelyon's "The Email". See who can add other spins on this interesting introduction. jakelyon has about the fastest approval turnaround of late, and near always has some helpful feedback.

So I guess I need to work on recruitment to the board now.

I have far too much time on my hands and an overactive imagination. I tend to write at least a couple of threads a week although lately I seem to have been writing a new thread daily.

I've been looking around for new stories to add to, currently I'm adding lots of threads to Life Of A Senior as i'm on trusted status.

As far as reviewing people's work, I must admit i'm a little lazy on that front and haven't commented on too many threads.

If anyone wants a new story to write for feel free to write me a thread for Rock Festival and i'll write you a couple in return.

I just added to a new story, "Fairy Tale" minutes before seeing this post. :)

I think simply fixing the link from chyoo.com would bring a lot more traffic here (posters or lurkers)...

Now that voting is almost instantaneous, I seem to get votes every day or so instead of twice a month! But commentaries are still awfully rare... :( But I do make a point of writing something every time I rate a thread, for good or bad.

It has seemed a little quiet as of late, but there seem to be plenty of new stories popping up everytime the site updates so I think there is a lot of activity, but maybe less people on this board.

The quality of the new stories has improved as of late, so I am hopeful that as the site improves the pace will pick up a bit. I have been less active in terms of adding new material as my work has been all consuming as of late. Soon as I have things under control again I plan to catch up on all the ideas I have half done out there.

I guess I would suggest that if it seems slow the best way to get it moving is write for someone else's story, preferable one on the first time authors and let them see someone else is looking at their story.

56 is not slow

I noticed that there have been 56 stories added to Chyoo in the month of June. That is not slow and seems to me to be an increased level of activity.

Maybe they just can't find the message boards.

:D

I've not looked through too many of the new stories. I've added a thread to Summer Break a new story in Erotic Couplings. A couple of the ones I did look through didn't grab me at all.

New stories = New crap.

I am going to agree with Deathofcards. Most of the new stories I have checked out are not all that exciting. To be honest a lot of them are more of the old things we have so much of. Everybody likes writing about a party or highschool. What's up with those two topics? I came, I saw, I added to some of those stories so long ago. I want something new... something more story based... and plot driven. Something that involves more than the climax being an orgasm.

Any ideas?

I think there is a natural evolution in the writing on Chyoo. When I started I tended to focus only on the sexual acts and any plot was moved through quickly to get to the sex. While I still enjoy that from time to time I do like to try and think about stories that are actually stories and not just porn.

What I am hoping is that some of the new authors will make the transistion that some of the people that have been around for a while have made and we can see some stories develop into actual stories with plots and characters and such.

Well, i dont wanna sound like im talking myself up, but I try to avoid the cliche's like that, cos i hate reading them. theyre more like a list than a story. get with girl, have oral sex, screw for a bit then cum in her arse/face. If you write a story like that with no background, where do you go from there? more oral-intercourse-orgasm? It's poor, very poor.
If i write a story like that, tell me that it sux, please

With my threads there tends to be a contrast between some of them where as with certain stories I tend more to concentrate on plot and feature the occasional sex scene, my stuff for Secret Agent is a good example. Or i'll write what is more obviously just pure sex threads with less plot. A lot of the stories I've written for so far seem to be stories set in school or colleges, as they're seems to be quite a lot of them.

With the stuff I've written for Life Of A Senior I am trying to develop a sort of storyline and feature several consistent characters, which I'm developing rather than one sexual encounter after another with a new character each time.
