My Cardiac Surgeon has suggested that I wear support thigh highs to improve circulation. Any suggestions on brands? And the sizing charts? Are the shoe/thigh size or measurements the same?

Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllppppppppppppppp :D

He probably meant some sort of support hosiery, not go-go boots!

Ya think? :D

I had no clue either on how those things were sized. But it is shoe size and thigh measurement.

I broke down and ordered from Amazon. Got them Monday and lets just say I have a whole new appreciation for what women go through for us!

No, your cardiac surgeon, cardiologist, GP, or any other MD has not recommended "support thigh highs" without a prescription. Unless I am reading way more into this, you need compression stockings (typically for just below the knee). These are custom made by your local medical supply company and have a partial length zipper on the outside (lateral) side of the stocking for ease of ingress/egress. If you truly need thigh compression (extremely rare), again, your medical supply company can custom fit you with full length lateral zipper compression wraps.

Neither of the above can be worn for a full day so you'll also need a pair of MAST leggings for night time (sleeping) or periods of rest with legs elevated.

The reason for the compression stockings (MAST leggings) is to prevent fluid build up in the lower extremities do to fatigue of the venous gated channels.

The reason these need to be custom made is to ensure proper fit and compression to avoid gangrene. Amputation, sepsis, and death is not something you'll enjoy.

If you want to wear some sexy stockings, rock on. Do NOT expect medical benefit from sexy stockings.

My apologies if I misunderstood your original post.

I went back and listened to the recording of the meeting. His words were, "I recommend you get some nurses support hosiery." His nurse then spoke up and raised her pant leg and said, "These are thigh high and do really well." He agreed that would be fine.

Nothing against those that do wear them for pleasure, but that is not the intent here at all. I could care less how "sexy" they are as long as they help the circulation so that in the years to come I still have feet to fit them over.
