I'm sure someone can prove that United Healthcare would have continued her policy if ACA hadn't passed. Let's see it.

It's impossible to prove or disprove speculation but the best way to predict future behavior is by looking at past behavior. The patient had been covered for the last seven years.

Furthermore, I believe what you are suggesting would have been illegal, one of the few good qualities of Obamacare.

Where's the rest of the unholy Trinity?

Pookie too...

They promised us Nirvana, instead all we get is, next year, more money, blame the Tea party, don't judge us...,

We have already seen that the close interdependence of all economic phenomena makes it difficult to stop planning just where we wish and that, once the free working of the market is impeded beyond a certain degree, the planner will be forced to extend his control until they become all-comprehensive. These economic considerations, which explain why it is impossible to stop deliberate control just where we would wish, are strongly reinforced by certain social or political tendencies whose strength makes itself increasingly felt as planning extends.

Once it becomes increasingly true, and is generally recognized, that the position of the individual is determined not by impersonal forces, not as a result of the competitive efforts of many, but by the deliberate decision of authority; the attitude of the people towards their position in the social order necessarily changes. There will always exist inequalities which appear just to those who suffer, disappointments which will appear unmerited, and strokes of misfortune which those hit have not deserved. But when these things occur in a society which is consciously directed, they way in which people will react will be very different from what it is when they are nobody's conscious choice.

From Who, Whom?
FA Hayek, Road to Serfdom, Chapter eight p. 137

It is one thing when the evil enemy, free enterprise, denies you, but when the government you voted for, to protect you from what free enterprise (your life choices and Fortuna) does it to you, how do you feel? Who do you appeal to? Gawd...?

When confronted by government and the brutality of man empowered, were there no God, someone would invent one out of necessity if only to render the illusion of hope, even if in the next life.

Reminds of that popular old song sung at union Labor Day picnics, SHOO FLY PIE, and OBAMAMANGINA!

See... the thing about emotional appeals is that they don't work if you, yourself, have been through the same exact thing. As a cancer survivor I know for a fact that her quality of care won't deteriorate if she can't pay for it. She just goes into debt. The doctors who are treating her are already legally required to continue treatment, regardless of whether she can pay for it or not. In the states you cannot discontinue a life-saving treatment because the patient can't pay. You're required to bill them later. In Kentucky you're required to work out a payment plan. And I think this is national, but I'm not sure: That debt doesn't count against a credit check.

This article really wants a dumbass audience who's never had to deal with any of this shit. What has happened here is either 1: This chick really wants attention and decided to use the "I have caner, pity me" card that ANNOYS THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME because it's used so frequently- there are a lot of reasons to pity me, and my body being so fucking stupid that it doesn't know how to grow properly isn't one of them. Especially since i smoke and we have no idea what this woman has done to contribute to her own cancer.

or 2: Someone has lied to her and told her that hospital policy has changed to where they CAN deny life-saving procedures once they've been started, which is a flat out lie. And they've told her that just to scare her. And anyone who would fuck with somebody when they're in a life or death situation can suck my dick because they don't have a moral leg to stand on and sure as fuck can't call anybody else out.

Either way this has nothing to do with Obamacare. The only thing that's going to affect is how much she winds up paying, not the type or quality of care that she receives.
