"They" say I belong here, because my sigline is too long for the general board. Some of them are so snobby its pissing me off. I've been on lit for around a year and all of a sudden people are jumping on my ass because I have an expressive sigline.

Isn't this place for hooking up and 'playing around'? I'm attached! What does that have to do with pictures in a sigline? What kind of crappy prejucice is this to tell me where I can and cannot post because of a sigline? By the way there pretty snobby in the way they say "you belong in the playground" too, as if they are so much better or something.

I'm sorry to blow off my steam here, but this is really irking me.

I think the same thing I've thought since about my second week here. The people who in general make the GB their home base are the people who in high school thought if you didn't listen to "this" muscian or wear "those" clothes you were a lesser person.

It's no less retarded now, and it's why I never go there.

Some just forget there is a freedom of speech and I show mine in my sig line. GBers like to play who can be the biggest asshole. I love games but I don't play that one.

Read the thread, sorry to see that you were treated so rudely. I think on this board siglines are seen more as a personal expression. Some of them are really long, but we all have the option of turning them off if we want to. I don't turn them off for a few reasons: some give you a glimpse into that person's soul and/or personality, some contain wonderful quotes from music and literature, some have poetry that a member has written and some are just downright hilarious.

I think we're more likely to tease about a sigline here. A week or two ago I teased someone about their sigline, and suggested they start a sigline competition thread. See who could fill an entire page with their sigline first. (Kind of a revolt against all of those who hate them, but done in good fun) I still think it would be funny, but then again, I am kinda warped.

No, you don't have to be looking around or looking to play around as a prerequisite to post here. The Personals area is set up for those that have a dire need to find someone. Most of us are just friendly people from all walks of life. Some are looking, some have partners. Some of just come to visit friends we've made here.

.....I tried like hell the first few weeks to even join in with the GB's and had a lukewarm welcome.....then I met a few wonderful people here and decided I liked the company a lot more......of course, we do get bashed for being to touchy/feely......but it's better then getting cast down for your views......people here just hang out......joke around.....play a lot.....and just try to have a good time leaving the real world behind for a moment in time.....and just for your information....once in awhile they sneak over here and try to stir things up......and once they realize "we're beneath them".....they get tired and run off to call each other names back on the GB........to bad to....nothing wrong with a serious discussion.....but it always turns into a name calling event......I for one out grew that in elementary school......I mean....if you don't want to grow up......which would you rather have it.....picking fights all the time.....or living in a fantasy land.....me....I prefer friends and fantasy.....too much hate already in the real world.....why bring it to Lit.....

Hope to see you in some of the many hang outs in the playground....there all wonderful.....so enjoy.....

Welcome to the playground Sweet. I don't post on the GB much, I've always felt that was a rough crowd. Though there are a few roughians here too, they're not as common. The Playground and Amateur pics are the two best places on lit to be if you ask me. I hope you enjoy it here.

The GB....has some really nice people also....it's a shame that some people get tossed there by just a few people that seem to like to hurt peoples feelings.....it's only a few but can seem like many...

Welcome. It used to be together and then they seperated them and created the playground. My own experience with GB is that they are very cliquish and rude and very argumentive. I know that is not so for all of them. But the times I went over there it just is not fun. I have met and have alot of great friends that I come here to check in with and there is a great bunch of people here that are always there for you if you are ever going through rough times or need a shoulder to cry on or lean on. Whether you go back to the GB or stay here or visit both, you are always welcomed here! Hope you have a great evening and even better week.

I like the GB, but I like to pop over here occasionally too.
Sometimes the GB requires you to have a thick skin, but, I enjoy the diversity.

I think you should be welcome wherever you go in the lit community, no one has any special rights to a particular board.

I'm another echo to all of these thoughts. I am another who comes here by choice because the people are warmer and less judgemental of others. It's not the sig line, they can turn that off if they choose. It's a matter of expression of individuality and threatening the pack. Herd mentality. They appear to want to be different, just like everyone else that is the same.

I understand long term relationships that produce inside jokes amomg the clique members. But, read their posts, they don't treat each other very well either.
