We're making progress! It used to be that we were too compassionate.

Brilliant. Fucking brilliant. The Iraqian soldiers behaved so badly, that the American soldiers had to behave even worse!

It's good to see that you don't have to have more than 10,5% IQ to join the army.

Goodgawdalmighty, that made me choke and laugh. I'm still trying to take it in, I mean the fact that he said it, that it came from the depths (or surface) of his mind. I don't think I'll work on the content though.

Perdita

I didn't mean to make you choke.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, though, because these are so easy to Google that I felt a little ashamed of myself for posting it. Just type "Bushisms" and you'll find more sites devoted to our boy than Dan Quayle ever dreamed of. The sites were stale until recently. Then the spring crop matured enough for harvest, and the roadside stands are overflowing with fresh, vine-ripened Bushisms...I don't want to be greedy. I'll just post this juicy morsel and let somebody else post the rest.

"My job is to, like, think beyond the immediate."

Sher, please stop! I'm going to have to go home sick. P. ;)

Oh, right. Blame me.

I couldn't resist this one. Swallow your coffee first, okay?

[color=dark red]"The ambassador and the general were briefing me on the—the vast majority of Iraqis want to live in a peaceful, free world. And we will find these people and we will bring them to justice."

George W. Bush—Washington, D.C., Oct. 27, 2003

Stop me!

These Bushisms are salted pistachio nuts. I can't stop at one, even though a fistful of them will make me sick.

Perdita, get into crash position for this one.

"The march to war affected the people's confidence. It's hard to make investment. See, if you're a small business owner or a large business owner and you're thinking about investing, you've got to be optimistic when you invest. Except when you're marching to war, it's not a very optimistic thought, is it? In other words, it's the opposite of optimistic when you're thinking you're going to war."

—George W. Bush, Springfield, Mo., Feb. 9, 2004 (Thanks to Garry Trudeau.)

Sher, thanks for the warnings, and the really big laughs. I'm really speechless. P.

He called the astronauts spatial entrepreneurs! In January of this year!

I'm dying here. P.

"The best way to find these terrorists who hide in holes is to get people coming forth to describe the location of the hole, is to give clues and data."

I have given up wondering how this putz became president. Obviously, I don't understand politics on that level.

But, tell me, would you trust this man to collect your garbage?

Yes, I would. With absolute confidence.

To collect it? Yes.
To describe the process of collecting it? No

-Colly

If someone can’t find their way from the subject through the verb to the sentence’s object, then I won’t trust them to find their way from the garbage can to the back of the truck to dump the garbage.

They would be just as likely to dump the garbage into some parked car’s window.

What about Rush Limbaugh's piece about the Abu Ghraib guards just "blowing off steam"? It was after he described the abuse as no more than "hazing".

"If they want to find that man (Osama Bin Laden), Grandpa, why don't they just ask whoever keeps taking his picture."

Dr. M. - Here are a couple more Rush quotes I found.

Our armed forces shouldn’t be over there - they’re good at killing people and blowing things up, not peace-keeping.
--Rush Limbaugh on Clinton’s deployment of troops to Bosnia.

Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.
--Rush Limbaugh

And a couple more Bushisms -

More and more of our imports are coming from overseas
--George W. Bush

Not in French, nor English, nor Mexican

Spoken by one of the most unattractive Hudson River blowfish to ever swim through the airwaves.
